Good point! Some fundamentalist christian seem to think they have the monopoloy on marriage. It was around before their religion and it will be around long arter their religion is added to the list of mythologies. Its time we stopped people from legislating their religions.

That is just awesome. I was actually thinking about that the other day. If marriage is a religious institution, the government has no place to regulate who marries. If one priest in one church decided to allow it, it should be their choice. If marriage is a legal state, then laws should not be made on the doctrine of any church.
I’d be fully willing to become a priest of the church of the FSM if only to marry people to piss of these intolerants. Of course, you’d have to find a couple that wants to marry on an old boat, with a pirate themed ceremony…

It’s a fact that we ‘mos are almost always pastafarian. The boys are all about noodly appendages and meaty balls, and us lady lovers totally dig on things that are hot, wet and slippery. I mean seriously, think about it, butt pirates are still pirates :p

Our Master, the FSM works in mysterious ways. Of course, He likes for us to be happy, so He really does not care if we marry or not. He just wants us to respect one another and play nice.
Why can’t some christians understand this?

I love it when the tables get turned like that. More signs like this should be present in every rally from gay marriage to abortion and everything the Christians can’t “let to Caesar.”

As a Gay Jewish Pastafarian who is under direct attack by Prop 8 I think that this sign really makes me happy. The good news is that I recently applied for ordination from the Christian church (or one of them) and I am now allowed to religiously marry people! The 1st Gay/Jewish/Pastafarian priest! I will marry almost anyone as long as an eye patch, a peg leg, and a worthy sea vessel are present.

I’m converted! From this picture and discussion I now am convinced that the Church of The Flying Spaghetti Monster is the One True Church!
P.S. Prop 8 protests have spawned some wonderful homemade signs. A couple of my faves: “Jesus had two Daddies” and “The Bible: Slavery Good, Gays Bad, Snakes Talk”….

By the way, if this is from Florida, it’s Amendment 2, not Prop 8. It’s Prop 8 in California.
If this is, in fact, from Florida, I’d like to borrow this for various Facebook groups against Amendment 2.
-Floridian, voted against Amendment 2 (Note: Amendment 2 passed, but I think Prop 8 didn’t.)

Both Prop 8, and Amendment 2, as well as Arizona Prop 102 were passed by majorities in direct democratic fashion. The government had no religious affiliation in this matter. It went to the people as a true secular democratic government should, and the majority of people voted for these laws.
Now I’m not saying it’s right morally or whatever, but in this case I think the governments of these states did the right thing so complaining about the government for this reason is stupid. There are many other things to complain about the government for.

well, with prop 8 you were seeing tons of secular arguments FOR prop 8, now if any of them were true, I’d vote yes on 8, but, none were true, at all.
prop 8 will be overturned.

Ban straight marriage! The weakness of straight marriages today undermines the sanctity of good relationships between all of us! Plus, most perversions are done by straight people to other straight people, including the perversions of terrible, terrible haircuts and clothing. Just visit Wal-Mart and see the perversions perpetrated on us by the Straight Agenda!
Let’s get the signs and head to WalMart! Anyone with me?

In response to #37, I would be particularly sure to wear it to Wal-Mart!

Stop calling people by their comment numbers, they’re all wrong and it’s very distracting when you’re trying to read the comments! Just call them by their names, sheesh!

An elaborate spoof on Intelligent Design, The Gospel of the Flying Spaghetti Monster is neither too elaborate nor too spoofy to succeed in nailing the fallacies of ID. It's even wackier than Jonathan Swift's suggestion that the Irish eat their children as a way to keep them from being a burden, and it may offend just as many people, but Henderson, described elsewhere as a 25-year-old "out-of-work physics major," puts satire to the same serious use that Swift did. Oh, yes, it is very funny. -- Scientific American
