Wow. Before today I had never heard of FSM

Published July 17th, 2008 by Bobby Henderson

Wow. Before today I had never heard of FSM. Now that I have read your comments, it is clear that most of you are quite bitter and outright nasty. Don’t know why anyone would want to be a part of a group like this. It seems to me that you are all somewhat threatened by Jamie. It seems to me that if I was going to follow a “religion” with “no proof”, as you say, I think I would rather choose the one whose strongest values are in loving others. Oh, and for those of you who say that you reject Christianity because some Christians are hypocrites, grow up. That is the sorriest excuse I have ever heard. We are all hypocrites at some level. Take some responsibility and evaluate it based on its own merit, not on the fact that there are some stupid people who participate. If you have the guts, ask God to show you the truth. If you really want the truth, you will find it, rather than blasting someone who thinks what you believe is a little absurd.

    Cat,

You are absolutely right. I do feel somewhat threatened by Jamie. His beliefs are frightening.

He is a closed minded, evidence denying, believer in a mythological supernatural being whose stories are outlandishly absurd. You and he really need to study up on Bible inconsistencies, errors, and lies before making comments that will otherwise display your stupidity.

Read more here and learn somethings.

    CAT.
Obviously you do not read very well or comprehend what you read. If you notice all the blasting comes from the so called religious Christians. By the way, Christianity is just as absurd as any other religion. When are you idiots going to learn to read the about page. Don’t teach ID in a science class.
CAT go back to your sheltered life.
As for a religion with high Values, none get beat FSM. Love one another, We don’t care what you believe in, we don’t tell you that you will go to hell. Wait the Christians do that? Again, who is absurd?

  4. that1guy says:

Oh yes, christianity has the “strongest values are in loving others.” what with the crusades and the inquisition and of course the ever favorite Salem Whitch Trials that show the strong values in loving others. You are so right CAT thank you for convincing me otherwise.

I’m a little bemused by this. Jamie completely missed the point of our website, and this person has read that thread and also managed to miss the point; it’s like they are stuck in an endless loop. Thank you, oh mighty FSM, for filling the world with such amusing creatures as this. RAmen!

  6. Hibbo says:

My friend, you are very much mistaken – we are certainly not nasty people.

If you think that, may I direct you to read some of the bile-filled emails listed in the hate mail section, the worst of which seem to be from xtians. I can only presume that their anger comes from realising that they have wasted their lives following a false god.

    Poor fellows.

    RAmen.

Talk about completely missing the point. Criticism of Xtainity among most of the posters centers on the fact that it’s tenets are untrue, fictitious, created by men to justify their heinous behavior against their fellow men.

The history of religion is that its followers use the bullshit put out by their “Holy Books” to injure those of their fellow humans who do not subscibe to the truth of the religion. It’s a classic insider-outsider dynamic, and religion allows the “insiders” to feel fully certain that they are doing the right thing whatever that thing may be including waging cusades (against Jerusalem for example), conducting genocidal wars of conquest and enslavement ( Joshua and the Hebrews against the Caananite city of Jerhico), inquisitions, witch burnings, final solutions against the Jews, persecution of blacks, foreigners, people who choose alternate lifestyles, the list goes on an on.
Christians only love other Christians. Did Jerry Falwell love his enemies? Hell no, he demonized them and blamed them for all the ills of our society. He blamed feminists and the ACLU for 911, John Hagee blamed gays for Hurrican Katrina, and Pat Robertson blamed the failure to post the Ten Commandments on the wall of every public school classroom for Columbine. Fundamentalists gave us George Bush, fundamentalists during the past decade lied through their teeth to get themselves elected to numerous school board in order to place “Creation Science” on the public school curriculum. In short, many if not most of the ills of our current society can be blamed on what Xtains have done over the last ten years to undermine our system of government and replace it with one more congenial to their own prejudices. They are why we have Fox news, Rush Limbaugh, Sean Hannity, Glenn Beck, and a whole host of other right wing scumbags. Evanelical Christians are their audience, and they constitute the “base” for an administration so heinous that no less a personage than the man who brought Charles Manson to justice, Vincent Bugliosi, now wants to try them for war crimes and suggests all of them—Bush, Cheney, Rumsfeld, Wolfowicz, Rice, Pearle, Tenant ought to be placed in capital jeopardy-in other words, if conviced, they ought to be executed.
Also, I have personally known a number of evangelical christians and I am amazed at how blatantly racist they are. I knew one woman who professed to be incredibly devout, and she always referred to people of color as “niggers”. Hardly suprising when you consider her ancestors used the bible to justify African Slavery, and later Segregation from the pulpits of their churches.
How about the Catholic Church, Pope Pius was an ally of the nazis, his church was an integral part of allowing Nazi war criminals to escape justice by providing them with Vatican passports after World War II.
For Christianity, as with other religions, this insider-outsider dynamic is the primary value of the religion, rather than a universal love for mankind. Evangelical call such a universal love “secular humanism” and consider it an evil that they wish to use the entire aparatus of society including, of course, the government, to supress it. Chat’s why it’s so dangerous to have “faith based initiatives”. I can’t imagine anything worse than having to listen to a bunch of Xtain bullshit just to get a bowl of soup. And with the way the economy is going, quite a few people may be needing that bowl of soup to survive, and they shouln’t have to compromise what remaining shreds of dignity they have by listening to that garbage.

Well, CAT, I’m sorry to say that I think you’ve completely missed the point, and like all people who missed the point, went on to say that the purpose of FSM is to bash religion. What you and the countless other dunces who send mail like this fail to see is that followers of FSM could care less what you believe, even if we think it to be utterly ridiculous. FSM exists to show people that religion has absolutely no place in science classrooms, hence the term “separation of church and state.” FSM is a thing called satire, if you had read the open letter, which I doubt you have, you might actually understand what it is a satire of.
