I can’t believe that you are buying into this.

I can’t believe that you are buying into this. This was only created three years ago. If people actually read the Bible and got insight and understanding from the author instead of trying to get meaning from it on their own they would know what it truly means. God knows what He is talking about. Just read the law in the old testament and you will see that science was proven even before the scientists proved it to be true. God has created mankind. We were created with something called a free will. We can believe and do what we want to do but our main purpose and goal should be to please God our creator because He created us and He is the one who knows us best.

The reason why the world is experiencing these fatlities is because it is full of sin and disobedience towards God. Since the time of Adam and Eve’s separation from God, because of satan’s deception, He has been redeeming His people back to Himself. The children of Israel, God’s chosen people, turned their back on God many times and fell away from His commands but He continually gave them chance after chance after chance to remain in right relationship with Himself. Finally He sent Jesus, His son, to be the final sacrifice. Jesus was an innocent man who died the cruelest death on the cross, a death for criminals. The great thing though is that He did not stay dead. He defeated death and rose again on the third day. Jesus is the only way to God the Father now. “I am the way the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father but by believing in my name.” “Jesus did not come into the world to condemn the world but to save the world.” I think that people don’t want to believe in God becuase there are consequences for their actions and if they don’t believe that there are consequences that they will feel better about what they do. Negligence isn’t going to keep you out of Hell. If you believe in Jesus and His claims, and desire to be transformed onto the likeness of Him, you will be. He has the power to change lives if they are willing to surrender to His will rather than pursuing our own fleshly sinful selfish ambitions. The trick is to know what is TRUTH.

the proposition is that religion is rediculious
Where is the “proof” for such a claim?
Proof: I can create a religion as “insane” as christianity. FSM

This is the purpose… The man who started this whole “religion” wrote to the Kansas School board complaining about ID being allowed into the class room. This was not started as a “farce” or a “joke” you are participating in a proof by example argument. This is why you are getting people angry.
No one really cares if you want to worship a FSM. Go ahead worship it… but judging by your post you’re an atheist posing as a believer in FSM which is an argument by example about how rediculious christianity is. Is it any surprise you anger people.
The basic fact is your “belief” is held disingenuously. You said it yourself… you don’t really worship FSM. So if you and everyone who hold to FSM hold it disingenuously how is it anything like Christianity where not only do people genuinely believe it but put their lives on the line for it? People are angry because an unfair and irrational comparison has been made.
How would you feel if science was compared to witchcraft? Boiling pots, incantations, changing one substance into another, causing people to see things which are not there, puting people to sleep with or with out their permission. Would you like it if such a comparison was made for science? Of course you wouldn’t like it and scientists from all over the world would decry such an obvious misuse of logic.
More over if your goal Mitchell is to help people understand the “truth” how about making a proper analogy? Belief in God is NOT like believing in the flying spaghetti monster. It is an obvious and fallacious argument. I am angry not because you believe this stuff but because you want to pass this off as a rational argument. This is irrationality at its absolute finest. So in the end you make a plea for reason with irrational examples… What a demonstration of impeccible logic.

_I_ can’t believe that _you’re_ actually buying into this. You’re taking a satire of religion and responding with the very attitude that makes people satirize your religion. Lighten up.

Didja hear the one about the two monks? They were members of a very strict order that forbade them to even speak to a woman, much less touch one. So one day they were walking down the road when they came to a rushing river. A woman was waiting for someone to help her across; she knew she was to weak to resist the strong current. The older monk offered to carry her across the river on his back, and she accepted. After they were all across the river they all went their separate ways. Of course the younger monk was troubled by his older brother breaking the rules, and hours later he found the courage to ask about it. The older monk answered, “I only carried her across the river. You have been carrying her ever since.” You gotta know when to let go.

(By the way, they were Buddhist monks. Don’t worry, god will forgive you for learning from them.)

The reason why the world is experiencing flatities is because it has a severe case of flatulence – much like you.

So, god keeps giving the Jews chance after chance after chance after chance after chance after chance to follow him – I bet they wish Hezbollah and Hamaz felt the same way.

No, no, no, please, I don’t want to be transformed and look like Jesus. He has an anorexic hippie who wore diapers and had fleas and lice. I don’t wanna look like that….waaaaa….

Obviously you haven’t read the bible cover to cover. If you had, you would realize that it is a shit ton of hypocrisy and contradiction. How, seriously, how credible is a book written by some 600 men that claim they were commissioned by god to write it. even the four “gospels” contradict each other. Not to mention that Luke provided enough detail about historic events to prove that it wasn’t true. And we are the stupid ones? Seriously

    :P I haven’t read everything on this website yet, but how do pirates tie in…? @___@;

    I guess I’m just saying to everyone who’s flaming FSMism;;
You don’t need to have qualifications to start a religion (I don’t think anyone has ever had any…?). If you, by some unknown reason feel the desperate need to express your opinions, please do so in a civilized manner… ^^

I think the writer is missing the point that the texts they allude to are entirely fictional while the texts that tell of the ‘The Noodly One’are quite obviously fact and a message by which all right minded free thinking individuals can live their lives. I believe there is no requiremnt to ‘hate’ at other and opposing religions or faith systems.

Are you implying that “God” is the author of the bible?

…You do realize that “God” didn’t write the bible. The bible was put together by a group of men – a council, as a matter of fact. They chose what did and did not go into the bible. How can it truly be the word of your god if he had no say over what actually made it into this bible of yours?

The Gospel of the Flying Spaghetti Monster is all the true word of our FSM. You should read it, and become enlightened. Please, let His Noodly Appendages caress him and accept Him into your heart.

Do you read what you say before you publish it?

    Take this memorable quote:

“God has created mankind. We were created with something called a free will. We can believe and do what we want to do but our main purpose and goal should be to please God our creator”

So, God gave us the power of choice, purely so that we may choose to serve him. Would it not be simpler to command us to obey instead of giving us the option (if that was the intent)?

You also imply that God is the author of the Bible (both the Old and New Testament). The Old Testament is said to have been written by God. However, the New Testament was written by MEN, not God. That is an undisputed fact. In fact, the New Testament was written based on various accounts by a heavily prejudiced council.

Have you ever heard of the “Gospel of Thomas”? It was a collection of sayings of Jesus that were recorded by Thomas. Why haven’t you heard of it? Because it was left out in the writing of the New Testament by that council. What about the “Gospel of Judas”? It too did not make the cut, maybe because it didn’t spur hatred towards Judaism as much as some of the other ones.

Quote the Old Testament as being God’s words as much as you want, but do not say that the New Testament is God’s words. You believe that to punish us for our many sins, God sent his son to educate us, he then proceeded to walk on water, turn water into wine, then after he died came back to life. And the only proof you offer is text written some 2,000 years ago by MEN, based on the conclusions drawn by other MEN.

I can’t believe you bought into that crap.

And Christianity is only 2000 something years old. The pagan religions that Christianity has tried so hard to stomp out through history have been around MUCH longer than that. And I’m sorry, but if you are willing to call what’s written in a 2000 year old book that had chapters chosen and thrown out by a committee of men the “Truth”, then I feel bad for you. I prefer to actually think, and decide for myself, rather than just take a book at face value. Who says the Quran isn’t the correct way? Or the Book of Mormon’s? Or the teachings of Buddha?

It’s hilarious that Christians pick up their Bible and quote mindless scripture whenever they want to make a point. Why don’t you just tell us the simple, straightforward truth to Christianity? Tell us your attitude towards people who are different from you, and don’t hide your true feelings in repetitive verse. Do you always fall back on a poetic book because you are well aware that if you make your claims and demands clear, people will not be impressed? I think that you know that if you just tell us the truth about your feelings–”you are wrong. I am right. Be like me or burn,” people won’t follow you. You say that it’s just the truth, but it sounds an awfully lot like you just want to control people.

I can’t believe that you are buying into this. This was created 2000 years ago & you are still reading it? If people actually read the FSM Gospel and got insight and understanding from the author instead of trying to get meaning from it on their own they would know what it truly means. The FSM knows what He is talking about. Just read the gospel and you will see that science was proven even before the scientists proved it to be true. FSM has created mankind. We were created with something called a free will. We can believe and do what we want to do but our main purpose and goal should be to praise the FSM as noble pirates! Because He created us and He is the one who knows us best.

The reason why the world is experiencing these disasters is because it is full of sin and disobedience towards FSM. Since the time of the early migits, we gave the FSM second thoughts, because of our gluttony over the delicious breadsticks, He has been redeeming His people back to Himself. The great pirates of old, the FSM’s chosen people, turned their back on Him many times and fell away from His commands but He continually gave them chance after chance after chance to remain in right relationship with Himself. Finally He sent Mosey to free the pirates from the toils of unjust labor. The FSM proved to be an angry adversary, delivering disastrous plagues to the chef Phil. The great thing though is that He did not stay angry. His mercy was revealed again on Mount Salsa. The FSM is the only true way to Heaven, yet He Himself said: “If people don’t believe in me, thats ok.” The FSM is not an evil force in the world but to is a tolerant force, who may indeed save the world. I think that people don’t want to believe in FSM becuase they like to control people and if they believe that there is an intolerant god on their side, that they will feel better about what they do. Using God’s name to justify intolerance isn’t going to keep you out of Hell. If you believe in the FSM and His claims, and desire to be transformed onto the likeness of Him, you will be. He has the power to change lives if they are willing to surrender to His will rather than pursuing our own fleshly sinful selfish ambitions. The trick is to know what is TRUTH.

Being crucified isn’t the cruellest death.

Being impaled by infinite spikes, set on fire and pushed under a tank is the cruellest death. Also while being mauled by tigers and having scorpions thrown at you. And being laughed at. And naked.

Thankfully, to my knowledge noone has had to suffer this.

I foresee great difficulty in trying to obtain “insight and understanding” from the author of the bible because there were tens of thousands of them. After all, the bible was hand copied until the fifteenth century and many of those who were copying it could not even read the language it was in because a vernacular bible was considered heresy. Errors were introduced, ignored and built upon (although I would argue that it is hard to make an error in a work of fiction).

    RAmen.

P.S. Jesus of Nazareth was a criminal. He organized a group that opposed the empire, even if it was indirect. That’s a crime. Someone who commits a crime is called a criminal and is punished according to the whims of whoever is in power.

An elaborate spoof on Intelligent Design, The Gospel of the Flying Spaghetti Monster is neither too elaborate nor too spoofy to succeed in nailing the fallacies of ID. It's even wackier than Jonathan Swift's suggestion that the Irish eat their children as a way to keep them from being a burden, and it may offend just as many people, but Henderson, described elsewhere as a 25-year-old "out-of-work physics major," puts satire to the same serious use that Swift did.
