Portland Powells

Powell’s Books, I like you guys because you put The Gospel in the Philosophy section, not in the Humor section.

Also, I’m the one who always arranges them face-out so they’re more visible. Sorry.

I was very disapointed when I found the gospel in the humor section. I was a little offended as a future Pastafarian.

I’ll be sure and keep an eye out for your work next time I make it up to Powells.

I’m so proud of the Portland Powells!
I believe I have seen the employees eating pasta there on several occassions!

Maybe the next time you’re in there, you should put a few copies next to the bibles… :D

I saw a book once. It tried to bite my leg off.

Kudos to you for your successful placement. As a practicing cookie cutter munchiekenarian Christian, I have to struggle with the fact that our literature is relagated to the cooking section.

Next time, put the Bible (the stupid bible not the RAmen kick ass one) in the fiction section.

I was astounded and overjoyed to find my first copy of The Gospel in a special “Books That Will Make You Think” section of the Barnes and Nobles in Lynchburg, VA (home of Jerry Falwell’s Liberty University)! It was included among works such as “god is not great: Why Religion Poisons Everything” and “The God Delusion”.

When I bought additional copies for family at my local B&N, in Roanoke VA, it was in the humor section. I asked the manager to consider placing a copy in the philosophy section, but His Noodly Appendage has not yet seen it fit to guide me back and check.

Purchase the Gospel

An elaborate spoof on Intelligent Design, The Gospel of the Flying Spaghetti Monster is neither too elaborate nor too spoofy to succeed in nailing the fallacies of ID. It's even wackier than Jonathan Swift's suggestion that the Irish eat their children as a way to keep them from being a burden, and it may offend just as many people, but Henderson, described elsewhere as a 25-year-old "out-of-work physics major," puts satire to the same serious use that Swift did. Oh, yes, it is very funny. -- Scientific American
