how many believers of the fsm have died for their belief when they could have simply renounced that belief and lived?

Perhaps you could explain why you think martyrdom is a sacrifice for a true believer, not just a selfish shortcut to the best seats in heaven.

Yes, I love this religion more than any other right now, for a few reasons, it doesn’t have commandments, only recomendations, it is at peace and is a peaceful religion otherwise, the whole story is intruiging, and most of all it is humble, and doesn’t press people to join, like some other religions i can name.

Us Pastafarians don’t have any original arguments because we are parodying and satirising your arguments in order to show where the are wrong.
But we do have a better heaven than you. And a sense of humour. And beer.

I’m sure Henry thinks he has made a point here, but I have no idea what it could be. Not really surprising, if my assumption that he’s a fundie is correct. If I’m wrong, and he’s not a fundie, I’m sorry for the mischaracterization. Still can’t see any point being made, though.

We are peaceful we try to keep people from dying.

I too am shocked by the body-count of our last Holy War with the dreaded Pizza-lovers down the street. Oh if our fallen comrades had renounced themselves as Pasafarians, this tradgedy could have been prevented!
I wish I was actually saying this, it’s far easier to make your voice drip with sarcasm. *laughs*

Dying for your beliefs does not make them any more true. How many Nazis have died for their beliefs?
“I’ve noticed that atheist and / or FSM “believers” don’t have any really original arguments either.”
If a religion that worships a Flying Spaghetti Monster and links number of pirates to global warming isn’t original enough for you, I can only assume you worship the chicken god a la the aliens from Jimmy Neutron. [forgive me for not remembering the name of the god or aliens; I haven't seen the movie in years]

What? Die for my beliefs? Why? I’m open to the concept that I could be wrong. Besides, up here in the Great White North we need pasta, beer and strippers to keep us warm throughout the long sunless winters that drag on and on and on and on and on. While I truly respect anyone who joins the military to fight for there country as well as the freedom of others, the idea of dying for a religious belief is frankly nuts.

bloodshed = existance of god? my god that is the most lame argument ever! well if it comes to that don’t you think jewisch believe is the most true of all? they have been slaugthered by millions! by nazi’s, christians, muslims. they endure the most suffering for they faith, so they must be the true religion! cuz everyone steals they religion, transformes it into another religion en then justify the slaughter of jews =) or what to think about inca’s? they where happy to have their harts ripped out for the rise of the sun god, so they must be right?
Or is the religion most peacefull like pastafarianism the one truely blessed by it’s God? I thing a LOVING God would! =)

Btw, why do you care. Ask yourself why it matters to you what someone else believes. Could it be that their very existence pulls on the strings of doubt and disbelief in your own belief system, and you then feel the need to compensate by writing hate mail?

how many believers of the fsm have died for their belief when they could have simply renounced that belief and lived?
As yet, I haven’t been challenged to death for any reason. Actually, when’s the last time you or your religeous buddies were thereatened with death to change your religeon to Pastafarianism. If it’s never, then why are you complaining HERE? All those dumb-asses who died for a fake religeon, and yet here you are, still believing in it…guess the wrong ones died for it. Would’ve been nice if the child-molesters, the manipulative asses in preachers clothing, or the fear-drivers would’ve been the ones who died…but no…it had to be people who actually believe what they’re told JUST BECAUSE that’s what they were told.
I’ve noticed that atheist and / or FSM “believers” don’t have any really original arguments either.
That’s because we spend half our time trying to get someone to refute us with logic on issues that are already known. Odd how, once we’ve proven something with logic, the question dies away as people understand the concepts. Maybe it’s that we should finish answering the original questions before we pile yet more on top to never be answered.
The real question is ‘How do we get people like you to answer questions without resorting to the same lack of understanding as you’ve always held to?’, which is a far more worthy question than any we may ask about your beliefs, and a requirement of questioning unfounded beliefs successfully. If you try to avoid doing that, then you’re a total moron, and we don’t even want you around unless it’s in a clown suit, or on the platform of a drop-tank.

WOW, the sheer audacity of this guy to say that Pastafarians have died for our beliefs is amazing.
.
Hey Henry, last time I checked, us Pastafarians have never had a Crusade, or a Jihad. Both terms, by the way, mean holy war. We live and let live, Henry, unlike many other religious groups who shove it down everyone else’s throat.

Well, do we, as pastafarians, really have to die for or beliefs? It’s been awhile since I last read the Gospel, but I would say that His Holy Noodlyness wouldn’t really care if we renounced our faith to avoid a lame death. By renouncing him we get the chance to once again celebrate the most holy of days, the Friday. Surly, that must be more important to Him than what we say on top of a pyre tied to a stake?
.
Are we not known for flimsy moral standards? Would it not be all sorts of ok to renounce the FSM? I mean, He knows what we mean, and actually I don’t think he care that much.

The Gospel of the Flying Spaghetti Monster tells us that the original pirates from which we are all descended were hunted and killed by Hare Krishnas because of their faith. Sadly, Henry D, we’ll never know how many candy-giving, pasta-loving pirates were killed by those fanatics. I hope, however, that you’re not suggesting that the true worth of a religion is whether or not you’ll die for it. If such is your thesis, then get thee to an Army recruiting office. You’ll have a chance to die for W’s religion in short order.

We must count many of those who practice Christianity, Islam, Judaism, … as anonymous Pastafarians. Or like me, not so anonymous. In keeping up the wall between Church and State, men and women of both athiest and religious backgrounds have fought for keeping this American institution.

Oh, how could I have forgotten that the number of martyrs is proportional to the truth of a religion?
And perhaps we have forgotten that to parody something, one generally uses entirely original material.

hmmm, I believe that the body count due to an overindulgence in pasta, beer and strippers is enormous. The only god that comes close would probably be the Tobacco god… now don’t be messin’ with the tobacco god… his followers die by the hundreds of thousands every year.
But pasta, beer and strippers is a pretty close runner-up!

The point is why should anybody die for a religion? There’s so much else in life worth dying for. Terrorism is a radical sect of one religion taking on another. Neither of which have been touched by his noodily goodness. So to answer your question, nobody has died in the name of the FSM, and that pleases him. Please refer to the 2nd “I’d Really Rather You Didn’t” for more clarification if it is needed. You will find your answers in the holy gospel.
As far as not providing original arguement, what is not original about claiming a flying wad of spaghetti (may his holiness forgive me for refering to him in such a heathen way) as the creator of being. If you say that it’s just a spoof of Christianity, are you not just opening your religion up for comparison to ours? We don’t need to make original arguements because that’s not the point of Pastafarianism.
Let’s just say I don’t feel any overwhelming urge to strap explosives on myself and do anything crazy, nor do I feel the urge to start a bloody hundred-year long war in the name of a set of beliefs.
