Why do you feel the need

Why do you feel the need to publish hate mail? Is it to prove a point that can’t be made without it? Was the rest of the site so insufficient that you have to make people feel sorry for you?

Maria, try to imagine a stand-up comedian making fun of other people’s stupidity. That is essentially the idea behind this section, although it takes more than mere stupidity to cause someone to write hate-mail to a website like this…it takes stupidity combined with closed-mindedness and the inability to take a joke.

    It is for comedy.

I live for Hate Mail! My day just isn’t complete until a 30-something bible-thumping hillbilly with an imaginary friend tells me I’m crazy.

Do you ever read the comments on hate mail. Pastafarians only try to help the troubled souls understand. All the hate mail that i can think of has been commented, broken down, and then has had all the wrongs pointed out.

But I really don’t like hate mail. After seeing some of the hate, I have lost almost all hope in humanity.

Hey there St John the Blasphemist. I was just wondering how this whole “non-censorship” deal might work. I certainly haven’t seen it here since oh-so-long-ago, and my memory seems to be slipping with old age. As a matter of trivia, are only opponents allowed to share their concerns, or are groups within CoFSM allowed to voice their concerns about things too?

P.S. How many things are you a saint of now? I bet it’s not more than the number of YECs it takes to screw in a light bulb. :)

Added entertainment value. Isnt it obvious?

BTW: Ths site is not the only one that gets hate mail from the fundies. I am quoting from Richard Dawkins “The God Delusion” Chapter 6 P211 of the hardcover edition. ‘this is a letter that was addressed to Brian Flemming autuer and director of the Film “The God Who Wasn’t There”

“You’ve definitely got some nerve. I’d love to take a knife, gut you fools, and
scream with joy as your insides spill out in from of you. You are attempting to ignite a
holy war in which some day I, and others like me, may have the pleasure of taking
    action like the above mentioned.

However, GOD teaches us not to seek vengance, but to pray for those like you all.

I’ll get comfort in knowing that the punishment GOD will bring to you will be 1000 times
worse tahn anything I can inflict. The best part is that ou WILL suffer for eternity
for those sins that you’re completely ignorant about. The Wrath of GOD will show
no mercy. For your sake, I hope the truth is revealed to you before the knife
connects with your flesh. Merry CHRISTMAS!

PS You people really don;t have a clue as to what is in store for you…I thank GOD
    I’m not you.”

The letter is signed “Burn while we laugh”.

This contempt for people is held in some instances at the highest levels of go government. George Bush Senior, in an interview by Robert Sherman in “Free Inquiry” was asked if he recognized the citizenship of atheists and replied: “No, I don;t know that athiests should be considered as citizens, nor should they be considered as patriots. This is one nation under GOD”.

Both of these quotes were culled form the Dawkins book as my secondary source.

Dawkins also recounts a story of how David Mills, Author of Athiest Universe was preparing to picket an intinerant faith healer who was coming to his home town and request police protection for his lawful and peaceful protest and was told by three separate police officers that if he showed up they would personally kick the hell out of his athiest ass, because they believed in the faith healer.

All of this serves to illustrate how far the culture was is going in certain parts of America, the deep south especially where athiest hold the place on the social ladder formerly occupied by people of color and homosexuals. Indeed, athiest bashing is one of the last safe prejudices which is why so many people inclined to prejudice have gravitated to it to get their jollies. As always, beware your public utterances, and vote for those most likely to change this.

You WANT hate mail? Yeah, i can see why blindly ignoring sound proof against your insubstantial religion is morally satisfying.

I’m not even being sarcastic here. Truly I understand. But i don’t believe.

If we didn’t post “Hate-mail” you would be complaining that we are suppressing free-speech etc.

We’ll leave that to the rest of the keepers of the faiths.

    Ya’ know.

Give me one example of a sound proof against our belief posted as hate mail, and only then will there be the slightest chance that I will take you seriously. This is what I love about hate mail. It is just plain idiotic. Oh, and you also just convinced me that the stereotype of atheists being tolerant and logical people is wrong. Or maybe you’re wrong, and actually you’re not an atheist, but just think you are.

Because the people who hate it love to publish it. Imagine how pissed off they would be if Bobby refused to publish their hateful, critical comments!!
Don’t they deserve a voice too, no matter how much they hate us.

And of course, we LOVE to argue with them.
    PL&P!!

  18. 58 Thomas May 6th, 2008 at 2:04 pm

I think it’s rather obvious, this hate mail section is to make fun of the people who sent it. It’s just funny to read how those arrogant ‘my church is all, we should burn the others alive’ believers overreact on this.
Admit it, those youtube movies of little kids freaking out over something totally trivial are fun to watch too.

  19. 59 Felipe C May 7th, 2008 at 8:59 pm

so we can laugh at the people who whine at their stupidity.

  20. 60 Chris May 8th, 2008 at 8:53 pm

It’s funny yet disturbing reading hate mail from people who miss the point of the FSM message. It gives us entertainment and reminds us how stupid some people are.

Purchase the Gospel

An elaborate spoof on Intelligent Design, The Gospel of the Flying Spaghetti Monster is neither too elaborate nor too spoofy to succeed in nailing the fallacies of ID. It's even wackier than Jonathan Swift's suggestion that the Irish eat their children as a way to keep them from being a burden, and it may offend just as many people, but Henderson, described elsewhere as a 25-year-old "out-of-work physics major," puts satire to the same serious use that Swift did. Oh, yes, it is very funny. -- Scientific American
