Hacked

Our server has been the target of a ddos attack for the last couple of weeks. Many have noticed how infrequent the posts have been, and that the server has been down altogether several times - this is why.

We have a pretty good idea of which group is behind it, but I won’t mention their name here. You may be able to guess.

There have been some huge developments in FSM over the last couple of weeks - I’ll be putting up these posts soon.

Thank you for your patience.

Well, Pastafarianism creates enemies in every religion, namely Christians and Scientologists.

Here’s a suggestion. Get proof of who did it, and since we are all assuming who it is, post who did it, then let all the awesome Pastafarians analyze how their actions completely go against what they supposedly stand for. I love how these unnamed cyber terrorists are the definition of hypocrites.

If this “Anonymous” group were only attacking Scientology I would probably join them. But unfortunately they have also decided to target FSM. What a bummer! So far as I know, no one in this group has ever been brainwashed or scammed out of their life’s savings, and no Pastafarian has ever ended up like Lisa McPherson. So how did we get compared to them? Besides pissing off the fundies, who have we ever harmed? Why don’t they go after Westboro Baptist Church instead? They piss everyone off.

I had been wondering why there had been so few posts, especially with the Florida “academic freedom” law being moved out of committee to be voted on by the full senate. I had hoped you would provide us with email addys so we could tell lawmakers to make sure that Pastafarian views are included in the protections.

Anyway, I have no clue who you could be referring to as the culprits behind the DDOS attacks. Could you give us some more hints?

It is always good to hear from our beloved Prophet Bobby Henderson. I am disappointed that so many posters have jumped to various conclusions about the perpetrators of the DDoS. The Prophet never mentioned any names and no evidence has been presented. And, of course, we all know how important EVIDENCE is, right?

I don’t think that it is anonymous that is doing the DDOSing. I haven’t seen any negative mentions of the FSM on any of their sites, and they enjoyed the scientology spoof. Normally, they broadcast on several different sites when they DDOS someone to try and recruit them to help. They haven’t done that for pastafarians.

“If this “Anonymous” group were only attacking Scientology I would probably join them. But unfortunately they have also decided to target FSM. What a bummer! So far as I know, no one in this group has ever been brainwashed or scammed out of their life’s savings, and no Pastafarian has ever ended up like Lisa McPherson. So how did we get compared to them?”

    Urm,

Hate to break it to you, but a fair amount of us are quite fond of the FSM.

I personally am wearing an FSM shirt and leafing through the Gospel right now.

Many of us included FSM related images on our banners and such for the last two real life protest. There is a youtube video of Anonymous retelling his road to finding enlightenment through Pastafarianism.

    The way I see it, there are two explainations;

Scientology did it; the Gospel did not paint them in the best light, and with all these ‘connections’ caused by us in protests, Scientology may have attacked.

If that is the case, I personally apologise on account of the Collective for causing such an attack on you which was no doubt meant to target Anonymous.

The other is it was Anonymous, but not the Anonymous you think. Anonymous started out on the Chans, as did we, the Protesting Anonymous.

However, not all Anonymous believe that peaceful protests in order to raise awareness of Scientology’s wrong doings are the right thing to do.

Some are still stuck in the mindset that Habbo Raids and Hacking Myspaces are constructive uses of time.

If this is the case, I once again apologise on their behalf, if only to remind you that the men, women and children donning the masks and trying to make a difference are not like these people, and I would hope that these ddos attacks would not push you away.

Or, of course, it was another party. The internet is vast.

Anyway; I anticipate your update, Bobby.
    Signed,
    Anonymous.

Hmm, Tom Cruise is spending too much time on his computer lately, I think we should deliver some good Chinese noodles to his house to convince him that we are not a threat to anybody but ourselves (evil laughter in the background).

  49. 49 Anon Mar 29th, 2008 at 10:25 am

This is not the work of respected Anons. It is not endorsed by Anonymous. On websites where Anonymous reside, FSM is held in high regard. Do not blame every DDOS attack on the internet as coming from the same source; that’s absurd conjecture. For a non unified, non hierarchical group such as Anonymous, open communication is the key to organizing anything, and were there lulz to be had by harassing this website and it’s adherents, Anon would be here. However, most of Us know that there are far, far more lulz to be had through our support of you and your efforts.

    We are Anonymous.
    We are Legion.
We like our pasta with extra sauce.
Expect us . . . to work with you, not against you.

  50. 50 Anonymous Mar 29th, 2008 at 10:26 am

Hi there. I am a member of Anonymous. Please believe me when i say that we have not attacked you(To the full extent of my knowledge this is true). We have no reason to, nor would we want to (FSM makes us lulz too much!).

I do believe that if we are being framed for this then you should look to the “Church” of Scientology for answers. They run a Fair Game policy: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Fair_Game_(Scientology). Every member of Anonymous has been branded a Suppressive Persons, please read the Wiki page on Fair Game to see what that means.

They are trying to make us seem like the bad guys. We are not. We are your doctors, engineers and teachers etc. Everything needs a balance, we see the “Church” of Scientology as it is now as something very evil which needs be changed. We are the balance, I am in no way saying we’re heros or knights in white armour.

So please, believe me when i say. We have not attacked you, we do not hate you and we are not your enemies - we do not wish to be either.

That is all i can say really. We’ll be taking to the streets again on April 12th - http://forums.enturbulation.org/

  56. 56 anonymous Mar 30th, 2008 at 12:56 pm

Techno-babble need not apply here. Sufficive to say, some idiot or another has decided to focus their efforts on the FSM. They didn’t go after gas companies, foreign countries, the government, sites that proclaim anarchy, file sharing sites, well established churches, or chinese production plants. They went after a social spot on the web with a propensity to attract people who are tired of those who wage rage wars on the basis of “I don’t like it” on implied religeous grounds, and those who’s life goal is to act without any thought at all, yet know with certainty that they can do no wrong.

I hope you can find them. I know that I once tracked down the real name of someone giving me trouble on the internet. All I had to do was wait until they got me into a good ranting mood before I posted the info I found publicly.

  57. 57 NintFJr Mar 30th, 2008 at 3:12 pm

No, I doubt its Anonymous. Anonymous has gone to more peaceful ways to protest, and they certainly haven’t protested us. Nor do I think they’d want to.

On the other hand, while it wouldn’t surprise me to learn Scientologists are behind it, the site does have that one picture on it, it seems more likely to be Christian extremists, or Bored-Again Christian Teens.

  58. 58 NotSage& the Namefag Mar 30th, 2008 at 4:16 pm

Greetings and salutations, members of this respective church. I will tell you now that Anonymous is a beast unchecked when his wrath is unleashed, and the Scientologists WILL have deliverance dealt upon them. Your friends down at the seven eleven approve of your pro-piracy stance, and welcome you into our bosom as allies; if ANYONE supposedly rooted with Anonymous has targeted you, we have some very choice words for they who believe targeting one false religion opens the floodgates to target ALL religions.

  59. 59 Caveat Lector Mar 30th, 2008 at 4:34 pm

It’s hard to say, probably anonymous; because if either the scientologists or christians did it they would do it under the anonymous umbrella. Scientologists are more likely because they are much more active when it comes to finding and destroying any criticism of their faith while begging for freedom of religion. Christians are also likely because our faith makes almost as much sense as the literaly interpretation of the bible, and we flaunt the simularities to them.

Even tho 99.9% of christians are too dumb to leave hate mail that has good spelling in grammar, let alone hack a network, 0.1% might be capable of it. But scientologists are more into silencing contradicting viewpoints than any other religion in america these days, so probably them under the veil of anonymous.

  60. 60 Sam Hudson Mar 30th, 2008 at 6:40 pm

no, it wouldnt have been anonymous, our religion doesnt kill people. scientology does, so they wouldnt waste their time attacking peaceful religion’s websites. My vote is on the hubbard worshipers though.

  61. 61 Rev. Connor Mar 30th, 2008 at 7:49 pm

i don’t think it was Anonymous, it was probably Scienctologists who think we are part of Anonymous, or who are upset over the fact that we make so much more sense than they do.

Sure - I’ll give you two answers:

    1. Our bodies have a natural defense mechanism that prevents us from injuring ourselves by pushing ourselves to our absolute physical limit. That defense mechanism is “pain”. But under extreme circumstances, there is a “Fight or flight” response, with a huge surge of the hormone Adrenaline. When you, or a loved one, is in extreme danger, this response overwhelms your normal defenses, and allows you to use your muscles to their true maximum ability. It might appear superhuman, but it’s not. It’s just impressive.

Or - 2. There is really no gravity, the FSM got distracted and just stopped holding them down for a moment.

    Take your pick.

    RAmen

  68. 68 Devout Heathen Apr 1st, 2008 at 4:40 am

By the spicy meatballs of the FSM - you don’t pay attention for a few weeks and see what happens! Personally, and without a shred of evidence, I think this hack attack exudes the odour of a CoS smear campaign. There have been more attacks on various websites, all attributed to “Anonymous”. Including one especially filthy one where epileptics were exposed to fit-inducing flashing images. Of old, CoS would counter any argument with “But $FOO is a pedophile!” So now Anonymous rejoices in the undivided attention of these gits. Unwelcome, but hardly unexpected.

    - I would suggest you not. If, as I speculate, it is the work of Scientology; do you really want to stoop to their level?
    - In addition, if you did, this would further give Scientology the ammunition against Anonymous. We’re trying hard to make a difference, but every blackhat and Ddoser with a problem is another step backwards.

I think it’s time for us to unite and team up with a large noodle factory to wage the first carbohydrate war (CWI) against trans-fat, non-organic foodstuffs, GMO’s and low-quality kitchen implements. That may help us win over some converts and quite a few admirers in other religious camps, especially those who claim to have extraterrestrial origins (aliens for sure can tell good pasta from bad).

    I retract my statement.
I no longer believe it was Anonymous who boarded our ship.
I believe it was Scientology doing it and blaming it on them, and that the same thing goes for the attacks on MySpace.
I got paranoid when I saw the YouTube video where Anonymous “attacks” Pastafarians, thinking it was the same message to the Scientologists. That was when I wrote my previous comment.
But then I watched the YouTube video again, and realized it was a spoof.
I also saw the videos of the news reports of the attacks on MySpace, and other non offensive websites, with the claims that Anonymous is a threat to us.
Then I thought, “What’s wrong with this picture?”
Doesn’t this sound like something Scientology would do?
    I apologize to Anonymous.
    Please forgive this humble pirate.

  77. 77 Song Apr 4th, 2008 at 3:06 pm

    @ all the Anonymous posters:

Anonymous is the first group you think of when you hear about targeted hacking, but it is true that there’s no percievable motive. Scientology is indeed a possibility too- their MO seems to be more sueing into silence than hacking, but as Caveat Lector said, this could be another way to silence us. They may have a hacker or two along with all the lawyers.
Of course, there’s always a third option- unaffiliated hackers that are offended by our site for other reasons. There are enough of those without senses of humour out there.

If “Anonymous” is attacking this site it will be purely for fun (for the lulz). That is their only motive. The Anti-Scientology protestors are a VERY small minority of people who considered themselves Anonymous before the Scientology Raids.

“It’s all very simple, let me break it down for you:
The Rand corporation, in conjunction with the saucer people, under the supervision of the reverse vampires are working to destroy the meal of dinner…
    Think about it…”

LAUGHS! I remember this! Ah! Love it.

Does Scientology really hate FSM that much? I thought i was mostly the illiterate Christians…

Does anybody know how I can become part of the Anon? It is very confusing, I go on the website and it is pretty much blank.

Purchase the Gospel

An elaborate spoof on Intelligent Design, The Gospel of the Flying Spaghetti Monster is neither too elaborate nor too spoofy to succeed in nailing the fallacies of ID. It's even wackier than Jonathan Swift's suggestion that the Irish eat their children as a way to keep them from being a burden, and it may offend just as many people, but Henderson, described elsewhere as a 25-year-old "out-of-work physics major," puts satire to the same serious use that Swift did. Oh, yes, it is very funny. -- Scientific American
