I don’t understand why you all hate God

I don’t understand why you all hate God. Why don’t you believe He exists? I read in an earlier message that the Bible is filled with historical errors. Actually, it is very historically accurate. Christianity has been around since the beginning of time – it just didn’t have the name Christianity. The belief in God was the very first religion, until man sinned.

We don’t hate God . We just don’t believe in It (yes , It) . Instead we believe in a much more concrete , proof laden belief of His Great Noodlelyness .

I believe that if God exists and allows all the suffering in the world to continue than God is on really bad drugs. Since I do have a fairly good idea of the size of the universe: really, really big!: I find it highly unlikely that God isn’t too busy to really pay attention to such an insignificant speck like the planet we live on. Face it COG, we’re on our own. Feel better now?

More importantly – how do you do both of these things at the same time?

    LMFAO!!! Nice one.

COG, I cannot believe you state that Christianity was the first belief. That wasn’t Christianity; That was just a monotheïstic religion. Back then the bible wasn’t there and no one ever heard of Christ (who is the reason why it’s called Christianity)

And yes, the bible IS filled with historical errors. Such as there being miracles. Miracles have never been. There you go, historical error.

@mig: “And yes, the Bible is filled with historical and scientific of errors.
Here you have a list of 313 errors found in the bible, choose your favorite: http://skepticsannotatedbible.com/science/long.html
    .
WHAT THE HECK are you talking about?!! Most of those aren’t even what someone thinks are errors, they’re things that are recorded in the Bible that the author thinks aren’t believable. For example:
#233: Jesus gives his disciples “power against unclean spirits, to cast them out, and to heal all manner of sickness.” #258: Jesus believed the story of Noah’s ark.
    .
And on top of that, there are so many crap conclusions that the author makes that aren’t even true within the Bible. #236: # Jesus casts out a devil from a man who was blind and dumb. (Thos we are unable to see or hear are possessed by devils.) No, ONE man who was blind and dumb was possessed by a devil.
    .
If you’re trying to prove that the Bible is inaccurate, at least try for its facts. Twisting its words and challenging things that you say couldn’t happen but were said to have happened 2000+ years ago will get you nowhere.

Historically accurate… right. The bible says that the universe was created in 7 (or is it 6) days by a magical sky fairy. It also says that one person (Noah) managed to cram 2 representatives of all the roughly 10 billion species in existence and that one man (Adam) named all of them. From a neutral standpoint, I’d say that the bible is as historically accurate as the lord of the rings. They both seem to describe alternate universes.

CHRISTIANITY HAS NOT BEEN AROUND SINCE THE BEGINNING OF TIME!!!

Unless the first single celled organisms worshipped Jesus billions of years before his conceptions.

or maybe you believe in the whole adam/eve thing, in which case they weren’t christian either!!! Christianity didn’t come around until AFTER the death of Jesus, which I might add “The Bible” states there were people around before that, and they were mostly Jewish. Ok! Deep breath! (Be warned this is long and has an argument that totally destroys Christian teachings!)
    .
“I don’t understand why you all hate God. Why don’t you believe He exists?”
Well that’s not a very good statement to make now is it? How can you hate something that doesn’t exist?
You might as well ask why I hate Dracula.
But if, hypothetically speaking, god did exist; I’ve compiled a list of reasons to hate him.
    1. God made everything, including things that are nasty.
    2. It set us up for a fall as shown in Genesis 2:8-17, by putting the tree Adam was not meant to eat from there in the first place. Now Christians often make the claim god is omnipotent and omniscience. If this is the case he knows everything, so would know Adam and Eve would eat from that tree. Therefore he planed for them to eat from that tree! Therefore his intention from the start was to punish them! Therefore he is a cunt! Bearing in mind that he said “…but from the tree of knowledge of good and evil, you shall not eat. For the day that you eat from it you will surely die.” Also bearing in mind that humans did not have knowledge until eating the fruit, this was akin to putting bleach in a coke bottle and putting it out in front of your kids. Bad parenting from your heavenly farther? I think so.
    3. He lied! The Supreme Being has to resort to out and out lies. “…but from the tree of knowledge of good and evil, you shall not eat. For the day that you eat from it you will surely die.” Yet this is untrue as this never happened.
    4. He lied again! He told the snake “…’Because you have done this, you are cursed above all livestock, and above every animal of the field. On your belly you shall go, and you shall eat dust all the days of your life.” But snakes don’t eat dust; they are predators and so eat other animals. Therefore god lied! Therefore he is a lying cunt!
    5. He hates women; In Genesis 3:16 he said to Eve “’I will greatly increase your suffering during childbirth. In pain you will bring forth children. Your desire will be for your husband, and he will rule over you.” Therefore he has shown he hates women and has no respect for them. Therefore he is a very bad deity.
    6. God loves incest- he only made one man and one woman, so all there children where brothers (as only Cain and Able are mentioned) and so they could only have kids by having sex with their mother! Nice one god, wonder what Freud would make of that?
    7. He incites brother to kill brother by showing favouritism. This is also not very nice.
    8. In the story of Noah he commits global genocide, which isn’t very nice. Once again, being omnipotent and omniscient, he knew this was going to happen in the first place. Therefore he planed to commit global genocide from the beginning, therefore he is a cunt!
    9. God gets his jollies from incest again, as after the flood there is only one family to repopulate the world. So every one from the first generations would have at least been first cousins!
    10. God is vain and jealous! The story of the Tower of Babel shows that god didn’t like the fact the humans were achieving something great that unified them, so made them all speak different languages so they would become separate from each other.
Ok I’m going to stop now because there is just too much! I’ve got ten reasons to hate god and I’m still in Genesis!
I will mention Exodus, Joshua and Judges. Here god commands genocide (clearly he can’t be bothered to do it himself any more) and in Judges, he punishes his chosen for not killing enough people! Wow! What an arse hole! And once again I’m barely scratching the surface.
So in conclusion; if god did exist he would be the biggest cunt in the… well universe.
    .
“I read in an earlier message that the Bible is filled with historical errors. Actually, it is very historically accurate.”
No its not! A global flood, which there is absolutely no evidenced of, whipped out almost all life on earth? I don’t think so!
Things are written out of sync and in the wrong time periods. There is just so much!
If you want examples let me know I’ll be more than happy to list them!
Also the bible contradicts itself on a number of points.
Lets have a look at some shell we?
    .
God good to all, or just a few?
PSA 145:9 The LORD is good to all: and his tender mercies are over all his works.
JER 13:14 And I will dash them one against another, even the fathers and the sons together, saith the LORD: I will not pity, nor spare, nor have mercy, but destroy them.
    .
    War or Peace?
EXO 15:3 The LORD is a man of war: the LORD is his name.
ROM 15:33 Now the God of peace be with you all. Amen.
    .
Who is the father of Joseph?
MAT 1:16 And Jacob begat Joseph the husband of Mary, of whom was born Jesus, who is called Christ.
LUK 3:23 And Jesus himself began to be about thirty years of age, being (as was supposed) the son of Joseph, which was the son of Heli.
    .
Who was at the Empty Tomb? Is it:
MAT 28:1 In the end of the sabbath, as it began to dawn toward the first day of the week, came Mary Magdalene and the other Mary to see the sepulchre.
MAR 16:1 And when the sabbath was past, Mary Magdalene, and Mary the mother of James, and Salome, had bought sweet spices, that they might come and anoint him.
JOH 20:1 The first day of the week cometh Mary Magdalene early, when it was yet dark, unto the sepulchre, and seeth the stone taken away from the sepulchre.
    .
Is Jesus equal to or lesser than?
JOH 10:30 I and my Father are one.
JOH 14:28 Ye have heard how I said unto you, I go away, and come again unto you. If ye loved me, ye would rejoice, because I said, I go unto the Father: for my Father is greater than I.
    .
    Which first–beasts or man?
GEN 1:25 And God made the beast of the earth after his kind, and cattle after their kind, and every thing that creepeth upon the earth after his kind: and God saw that it was good.
GEN 1:26 And God said, Let us make man in our image, after our likeness: and let them have dominion over the fish of the sea, and over the fowl of the air, and over the cattle, and over all the earth, and over every creeping thing that creepeth upon the earth.
GEN 2:18 And the LORD God said, It is not good that the man should be alone; I will make him an help meet for him.
GEN 2:19 And out of the ground the LORD God formed every beast of the field, and every fowl of the air; and brought them unto Adam to see what he would call them: and whatsoever Adam called every living creature, that was the name thereof.
    .
The number of beasts in the ark
GEN 7:2 Of every clean beast thou shalt take to thee by sevens, the male and his female: and of beasts that are not clean by two, the male and his female.
GEN 7:8 Of clean beasts, and of beasts that are not clean, and of fowls, and of every thing that creepeth upon the earth, GEN 7:9 There went in two and two unto Noah into the ark, the male and the female, as God had commanded Noah.
    .
    Human vs. ghostly impregnation
    ACT 2:30 Therefore being a prophet, and knowing that God had sworn with an oath to him, that of the fruit of his loins, according to the flesh, he would raise up Christ to sit on his throne;
MAT 1:18 Now the birth of Jesus Christ was on this wise: When as his mother Mary was espoused to Joseph, before they came together, she was found with child of the Holy Ghost.
    .
    The sins of the father
ISA 14:21 Prepare slaughter for his children for the iniquity of their fathers; that they do not rise, nor possess the land, nor fill the face of the world with cities.
DEU 24:16 The fathers shall not be put to death for the children, neither shall the children be put to death for the fathers: every man shall be put to death for his own sin.
There are even more but I’ll run out of space!
(You can see them at http://www.infidels.org/library/modern/jim_meritt/bible-contradictions.html)
So how can you claim the bible is accurate when it even contradicts itself?
And lets not forget claiming that bats are birds and that locusts only have four legs!
No, your holy book is not accurate at all!
    .
And a quick word on morals.
    1. If you rape a virgin and are caught you have to marry her. So rape victims are forced to live with the men who raped them (presumably to be raped even more) and the farther given 50 pieces of silver?
    2. If you lose part or all of your genitals you aren’t welcome into heaven, yet you should still be circumcised?
    3. If your children talk back to you or disobey you (like refusing to marry their rapist) they must be stoned to death!
    4. A woman is unclean when menstruating, and anyone she touches will also be unclean!
    5. If you hear of a single person in a town preaching about a different god, then the whole town must be put to the sward and burnt to the ground!
    6. If your wife fails to prove to the whole town she was a virgin on her wedding night she must be stoned to death! (Not sure how this works with the victims of rape as stated above).
    7. You can sleep with your slaves, but if they don’t satisfy you, you can get rid of them (it doesn’t count as adultery unless it’s a mistress doing it rather then the master, but then god does hate women).
    8. You can’t eat pigs, rabbits, camels or shell fish.
Once again only scratching the surface here.
So COG is this why you like the bible so much? Is it your hope you can someday rape yourself a wife?
    .
“Christianity has been around since the beginning of time”
No it hasn’t! Christianity is the following of Christ! Part of it is the Old Testament that covers the start of all Abrihamic religions (Christianity, Judaism, Islam).
    .
Also, even if you don’t believe in evolution, it has been shown humanity is a relatively new species to the earth. This is fact! It’s shown in the fossil record!
So unless Jesus was actually the second coming and the first Messiah was a microbe that died for our sins, your statement is not only false but an out and out lie!
You’ve done nothing here but expose your ignorance, even of your own faith!
    Well done.
“ – it just didn’t have the name Christianity.”
    See above.
*But wait there’s more! (This is the good bit)*
If you are right Mr COG, you are going to hell!
Yes that’s right! Hell! Where you will be tortured for all eternity in a lake of boiling faeces! Where the Devil will rape your rectum with a razor studded dildo! Hell! Where the indescribable holes of a billion souls in anguish will be the sound track to endless agony!
    I’m sure you’ll ask: Why?
Well even if you don’t eat meat (which most Christians do), eat shell fish or squid (which I’m sure most Christens do) or worship an Idol (which ALL Christens do! You call it a crucifix.)
You worship Jesus Christ as the son of god, as god and as the child of the Holy Spirit!
This is what would condemn you to hell if you if you are right
    How? You might ask
    .
You couldn’t have seen this coming!
Deuteronomy 13:1-6! As you obviously don’t know it (or you wouldn’t be advocating you religion) here it is!
“If a prophet arises among you offering some sign or wonder and if he then tells you to follow other gods and worship them (i.e. when Jesus.) Do not listen to that prophet’s words. Yahweh your God is testing you to find out if you love him with all your heart and soul. That prophet must be put to death. You must banish this evil from among you.”
    So well done, yet again!
(Take not of this everyone as this is an awesome conversation winner with Christians. You can end any argument with this as soon as they bring up that ‘The bible is infallible’ crap.)
This can be found in a bible or here http://www.thebricktestament.com/the_law/false_prophets/dt13_01.html
    .
“The belief in God was the very first religion, until man sinned.”
Actually it was a form of nature worship as I understand it. Gods came as people tried to establish a hierarchies amongst there fictional spirits.
    .
    “-COG”
You’re a total idiot, offence meant. You lack the slightest understanding of even your own pathetic religion. You argument lacks even the barest shred of evidenced or reasoning, therefore I’ll treat it as what it is; A declaration of idiocy!
And may god strike me dead if it’s not!!!
    .
    .

Still here? Your Imaginary friend has failed to strike me down, so ether way you’re wrong then?

the fact that you are asking these questions is good. however, simply asking questions is not where you get off the train. you have to want to know the answers as well. do you really want to know why pastafarians believe in what we believe? or do you want us to throw our beliefs away and believe what your church has told you throughout your life?

if you merely want us to believe what your church believes, then you are preaching to the wrong crowd. most pastafarians have some amount of religious background. many of us have read the old and new testament and have spent some time in one judeo-christian sect’s church or another. what most pastafarians have in common is that we were not satisfied with fallacy after fallacy, contradiction after contradiction found within all three of the judeo-christian religions (including your christianity). if you genuinely want to know why pastafarians believe what we believe, please try the following:

the next time you find something within christianity that contradicts itself, that seems to be untrue, that seems to go against the teachings found within the bible, ask one of your preachers or elders about it. most of the time they will be able to explain the contradiction or the fallacy based on some previous theologian’s assertations. most of these responses don’t truly explain your inquiry. rather, they simplify it by correlating it with a story found in the bible, or say that god works in “mysterious ways.” if it is a real doozie (to use a cliche but still quite relevant example), such as “if god is benevolent and merciful, why do so many innocent children suffer every day in this world,” take the time to really think about your minister’s/elder’s/father’s response. if they say something as horrendously rediculous as “god created evil to balance the good in the world,” “god created evil so that man may appreciate that which is good,” “they are acts of satan that are eventually overcome by the love of god,” or even worse, “god is punishing those children for committing sins prior to their birth,” i strongly encourage you to think about these responses and how naively self-important they are. do you honestly think a young child in kashmir/sri lanka/sudan/afghanistan that has never heard of jesus christ deserves to be the victim of gunfire or aerial bombing simply so that your god can prove a point to you? think about how self-centered that is. or to use an example closer to home: when you hear of a man in alabama throwing his four children to their deaths from a high bridge, or hear of a man repeatedly raping his adolescent daughter in missouri, do you honestly believe that those children are paying for sins they committed in the womb? do you really think those children are the price the world pays for the struggle between good and evil/jesus christ and lucifer? if this is truly what you believe, then you have just answered your question for us.

these are examples that have been used innumerable times, but they are questions many pastafarians have asked themselves as they moved away from the belief in your god. pastafarians continue not only to ask questions, but to analyze answers and seek truth. every pastafarian on this website could quote dozens of question they’ve asked themselves regarding the existence of god.

to paraphrase a quote used by TC in an earlier response to you: we cannot simply hand you everything that we have learned in a simple paragraph. you have to seek this wisdom for yourself. you seem to be probing the right direction, because you at least are asking us why we believe what we believe, rather than rediculing us and mentioning the fact that our god doesn’t have a weiner or SCREAMING IN CAPITAL LETTERS that we will all burn in hell hell hell.

may His noodles embrace you and His spicy marinara provide warmth on cold nights,

CHRISTIANS ARE WOEFULLY IGNORANT; the bible was written by primitive men(not any god) to control other primitve men. Look at it’s prohibitions and commandments:

(From Evilbible.com) God orders the killing of innocent people even after the Ten Commandments said “Thou shall not kill”. For example, God kills 70,000 innocent people because David ordered a census of the people (1 Chronicles 21). God also orders the destruction of 60 cities so that the Israelites can live there. He orders the killing of all the men, women, and children of each city, and the looting of all of value (Deuteronomy 3). He orders another attack and the killing of “all the living creatures of the city: men and women, young, and old, as well as oxen sheep, and asses” (Joshua 6). In Judges 21, He orders the murder of all the people of Jabesh-gilead, except for the virgin girls who were taken to be forcibly raped and married. When they wanted more virgins, God told them to hide alongside the road and when they saw a girl they liked, kidnap her and forcibly rape her and make her your wife! Just about every other page in the Old Testament has God killing somebody! In 2 Kings 10:18-27, God orders the murder of all the worshipers of a different god in their very own church! In total God kills 371,186 people directly and orders another 1,862,265 people murdered.

The God of the Bible also allows slavery, including selling your own daughter as a sex slave (Exodus 21:1-11), child abuse (Judges 11:29-40 and Isaiah 13:16), and bashing babies against rocks (Hosea 13:16 & Psalms 137:9).

Jesus also promoted the idea that all men should castrate themselves to go to heaven: “For there are eunuchs, that were so born from their mother’s womb: and there are eunuchs, that were made eunuchs by men: and there are eunuchs, that made themselves eunuchs for the kingdom of heaven’s sake. He that is able to receive it, let him receive it.” (Matthew 19:12 ASV) I don’t know why anyone would follow the teachings of someone who literally tells all men to cut off their privates.

God also apparently wishes for any of you who work on sunday, eat seafood, or wear clothing made from more than 1 type of material to be stoned to death.

My god has touched me with his noodly appendage which is loving and delicious.

Signed your faithful pirate in pasta

I donàt hate God. I hate religions, since religions have cteated that u call God. No religion, no God.
Thus becoming fondamentalism, as we know very well. Get people to think with their own brain is the main goal of this book, I believe.

Okay, I’ll admit it… I do hate God. I detest everyone, real or imaginary, who acts like Jehovah does in the First Testament. I wish all Christians would just read their own book already.

You religious idiots have not got a clue have you. You believe all you read in your individually related paraphernalia.
You don’t have the ability to think for yourself and have circum to the brainwashing of your parents or forbearer’s.
You waste your time, energy, money and life wondering what your respective heaven will be like and if you will get in when you die.
And your energies are wasted trying to brainwash more SAPS or berating them if they don’t believe in your particular Brand of crap.
The world would be a better place without GOD/Jesus, JEHOVE, BUDDHA,MOHAMED(oh no i said it)ETC,ETC,ETC.
Those with any sense at all manage to contribute, morally, to the world without belief in an outdated, fictitious, omnipotent being.

OH! And by the way i am Atheist and proud.

    Dear COG (child of god?):

If your god wants everyone to believe he exists why doesn’t he just book time on CNN or FOX and do some interviews. He could share some stories with Anderson Cooper like why he did what he did to Sodom & Gomorrah, and why nothing less than having his own kid nailed to a tree in his underoos would propitiate him for the sin of Adam and Eve. Matter of fact, he could explain why he was holding all descendants responsible for the sins of their first ancestors. (Kinda like the types of blood feuds we see where Hitler wanted to kill all the jews, isn’t it). Then he could explain what he had in mind when he created Cancer, heart disease, diabetes, and flesh eating bacteria like Ebola.

Finally he could explain why nothing less than eternal torture is true justice for unforgiven sin. In a nation that has turned its head away in revulsion from such things as Gitmo and Abu Graib, (except of course for the fundie supporters of Bush-Cheney) it will be interesting to hear how such explanations play.

Of course, this will never happen because your god is a human invention-fabricated by primitive peoples who saw genocide, blood feuds stretching over generations, torture, and absolute rule by kings as the natural order of things. Your religion is the vestigal remnant of that earlier, bloodier utterly inferior culture, and you hold on to it because it was programmed into you before you developed the capacity for critical thinking, by well meaning parents, teachers, neghbors and clergy who were in their turn, programmed in a similar manner.

It is good that you are reading here. It is a sign that perhaps the programming doesn’t have an unshakable hold on you. You are after all questioning what underpins the belief systems of others who are differet from you. Your curiosity is really your cognitive dissonance (look it up) about your own beliefs. Trust that-it can lead you to the truth.

You don’t want to be some unwashed fundamenalist who denies the vast truths of modern science; attempts to undermine the nations 250 year tradition of Church State Separation just so you can indoctrinate your neigbors’ children in your faith with publicly held resources (i.e. the public schools), ; tries to control the reproductive rights of women; dictates to fellow citizens who they can love and marry; and supports a government where the president and vp come to power by virtue of a fraudlent election ratified by a right wing supreme court that plunges the nation into illegal wars based on blatant lies. We have millions of people in our nation who have supported that kind of nonsense. It has brought us to the brink of ruin. Don’t you be one of them.

I will say this. Those people who incorrectly accuse others of hating God are really just being insecure about the validity behind their own ideas and opinions. So my advice to you is this: before you ask others why they hate God, or gods, why not ask yourself why you need to know, or care? I don’t think it’s right of you to question other religions but defend your own; it’s somewhat hypocritical when you really think about it. So from now on, instead of asking other religions why they “hate God,” you’re going to ask yourself why you are such an intolerant asshole, and why you can’t just mind your own business for one shameless minute of your own woefully meaningless existence.

There’s a difference between hating God and believing in Him. I’m perfectly okay with other people believing in God, as long as they aren’t attacking other people over faith. Also, Christianity came after Christ. The predominant religion was previously Judaism. The only evidence that that was the first religion comes from something believed in only by Jews and Christians, thereby not convincing any of us.

Do you just realize that you want to convince us that god exists by pretending that christianity have always been around (which is false, but it’s not the point), and so that we should believe it!
    .
This is a nonsense circular argument!!!
    .
Yeah, but : “we just don’t remember it because man sinned and then we lost what we knew…”
    .
Niiiiiiiiiian! Wrong answer… It would be AGAIN too easy…

I cannot hate something that does NOT exist, therefore I cannot hate god… Just do us ALL a favor and actually READ the ENTIRE bible… it is a giant contradiction… One part says “God loves all and forgives” another is “God hates us and allows misery and death” If Jesus is the son of god, how the hell is David related to him???? Why does the bible make NO sence??? I find it disturbing that more NON believers have read the bible and UNDERSTOOD it then believers. Think for YOURSELF! Read the bible and THINK about what is being said…

An elaborate spoof on Intelligent Design, The Gospel of the Flying Spaghetti Monster is neither too elaborate nor too spoofy to succeed in nailing the fallacies of ID. It's even wackier than Jonathan Swift's suggestion that the Irish eat their children as a way to keep them from being a burden, and it may offend just as many people, but Henderson, described elsewhere as a 25-year-old "out-of-work physics major," puts satire to the same serious use that Swift did. Oh, yes, it is very funny. -- Scientific American
