An elaborate spoof on Intelligent Design, The Gospel of the Flying Spaghetti Monster is neither too elaborate nor too spoofy to succeed in nailing the fallacies of ID. It's even wackier than Jonathan Swift's suggestion that the Irish eat their children as a way to keep them from being a burden, and it may offend just as many people, but Henderson, described elsewhere as a 25-year-old "out-of-work physics major," puts satire to the same serious use that Swift did. Oh, yes, it is very funny. -- Scientific American
Isn’t that supposed to be “God”. I think you’d better get back in touch with the one true entity worth worshipping–FSM.
LIES!!! Christianity did NOT originate at the beginning of time…It originated less than 2008 years ago. Judaism was around since the “beginning” of time, biblically (old testament based) around 6000 years ago. And the FSM gospel does account for the discrepancy in the fossil record; Yahweh makes no assertion of the power to manipulate radiocarbon, acceerator mass spectometry, or any other dating techniques.
I think you need to re-read your ancient history books, dude. And we don’t hate god. How can you hate something that doesn’t exist?
i lol’d!
I’ll take this one step at a time.
.
“I don’t understand why you all hate God. Why don’t you believe He exists?”
Tsk, tsk, tsk. Making an assumption without bothering to do careful research. I think a significant number of us actually believes in God (I don’t, but as an Animist, I believe in souls and spirits). We’re merely united by one cause that to teach the Creation of earth–according to the Bible–as science is wrong.
Notice my wording: “creation of earth AS SCIENCE”. We have nothing against believing that the Universe was begun by an omnipotent force. We have A LOT against thinking that this count as science: exactly what is that force? Can we see it? Is it detectable? If there’s no way we can observe or detect this Creation force directly, then it doesn’t abide by the strict limits of science.
.
To summarize: God is not scientific. This doesn’t mean we hate God, or that we don’t believe Him. It means he is not an observable force, and is strictly not in the realm of science.
.
“I read in an earlier message that the Bible is filled with historical errors. Actually, it is very historically accurate.”
Well, considering that the Bible is rather vague (and occasionally self-contradictory), you have to be careful at considering what is accurate and what isn’t. For example, the fruit that Adam and Eve ate could not have been an apple due to the warm climates of the garden of Eden. It’s also worth noting that any “magical” event in the Bible is wildly exaggerated. The part where Jesus walks on water is found that the accounted water body iced up at correct climates; that is, Jesus walked on ice. Even Moses’ water dwelling to the promise land is found to be a strip of landmass traversable only when the tides recedes, and only for a short time.
.
Basically, the Bible may have some historical accuracies, but most of them are either exaggerated or have incorrect details.
“Christianity has been around since the beginning of time - it just didn’t have the name Christianity. The belief in God was the very first religion, until man sinned.”
This is blatantly wrong. We have too much evidence that Christianity was NOT the first religion, and further evidence that humanity has been around longer than 10,000 years. A little research should teach you that much.
Upon the origins of religion, we have no idea what the first religion was, but we do have a very good idea what the earliest religions were. Would it be surprising that humanity considered woman to be more divine than man for having an ability to give birth? Is it hard to believe that the earliest tribes believed in more than one god (as I do, too)?
.
Anyway, I’ve been curious to figure this out, but if humanity started with two white people (Adam and Eve), where does Asians and Africans come from (as with other nationalities)? I doubt thin eyes and dark skin came out of nowhere.
Key words: “I Don`t understand”….
To begin: “Christianity has been around since the beginning of time,” wow where did you grow up, it certainly wasn’t earth. Even if you follow Christianity to its roots in Judaisms and its possible Islam, you will not get back to the beginning of time…. unless of course you are one of those that argues that earth was created in 7 days, and even then men wasn’t day one… thus no, Christianity does not exist since the beginning.
Further, who says we hate god? Just b/c we don’t believe in god, but rather life for the sake of living rather then to guarantee a good afterlife, Pastaferians are a rather peaceful bunch. We have no signs of crusades, religious warfare or child abusing priests.
Lastly all types of cultures have pasta! They don’t all have burning bushes, doesn’t that mean something!?

How can we hate somthing that doesn’t exist? And by the way, Christianity was not around till about 40 CE.
I canot hate something that I do not believe in and yes it contains many historical errors and it contains many many contradictions
Well, where to start?
I don’t believe your god exists because there is no evidence he does, or at least none that I don’t find to be fabricated. Why do you believe he exists? Where is your proof, other than a book you have read? As I don’t believe in your god, I don’t hate him/her/it. Hating something that I believe doesn’t exist would be a mentally unstable thing to do.
The bible is filled with historical errors. It is a fact. I suggest you check up on it. As an example, the bible cannot even agree with itself on the nativity, so why should we agree with it? As a work of fiction I really recommend that people do read the bible, it has everything someone interested in the darker side of humanity could possibly want to read about - genocide, betrayal, human sacrifice, rape, all in the name of your god.
Oh, and I think you’ll find that other, older, religions would deny that Christianity is the first religion.
“I don’t understand why you all hate God. Why don’t you believe He exists?”
Hating something you don’t believe exists is quite the stretch COG, really quite immature projection on your part, just because you have feeling towards something you perceive existing, to be, doesn’t mean those that don’t believe in your conception automatically “hate” him/her/it, they simply don’t believe at all (the feeling part is negated from the decision to believe/not believe its simply apathetic COG), I know its a foreign concept for you but try to rap your head around it.
“I read in an earlier message that the Bible is filled with historical errors.”
It is, even evangelical biblical scholars agree on this, do more studying, your ignorance is very apparent.
“Christianity has been around since the beginning of time - it just didn’t have the name Christianity. ”
“The belief in God was the very first religion, until man sinned.”
Actually archeology, sociology, and anthropology would tell us that it goes animism-> more so anthropomorphized animism-> (eventually the figures just become people)Polytheism-> Usually splits into two channels of development, usually->
1. Henotheism -> Monotheism
2. Heterodoxical mixture of spiritualesque philosophy (i.e. Janism->Bhuddhism)-> to actually the first materialist school Carvaka (which died out not to come back for awhile).
But uhh… don’t let facts stand in the way of your own world view COG, you can always just stick to recreating your own version of reality every time the revealed truth of the world comes your way.
Translation: “I need a sound education.”
Question: How can I hate something that doesn’t exist? (Or in your case, “[I] don’t believe he exists.”
The buybull is very historically inaccurate. However, the Iliad is dead on. Is this proof in the existence of Zeus, especially since there is a Mount Olympus in Greece, but no visible “heaven.”
Oh and I forgot, my his noodlyness be with!
Ramen
Recognition that one does not understand is the first step toward wisdom.
that is untrue… back before christianity the people believed in, in chronological order: Spirits, Ghosts, then many Gods for about 3000 years, THEN Judaism was born and mono-theistic religion was born which wasn’t even that popular. So people did not always believe that God was watching them.
Behold a miracle! He has moved His noodly appendage and converted nonsense into the Truth!
“I don’t understand why you all hate the Flying Spaghetti Monster. Why don’t you believe He exists? I read in an earlier message that the Gospel is filled with historical errors. Actually, it is very historically accurate. Pastafarianism has been around since the beginning of time - it just didn’t have the name Pastafarianism. The belief in the Flying Spaghetti Monster was the very first religion, until man sinned.

Hallelula, truely He is great! RAmen!

I don’t hate God, sweetie. I love God. Especially with a nice rich meat sauce and a little red wine.
Albert Einstein once said that insanity is doing the same thing over and over again and expecting different results. I’d like to take that one step further to say that insanity is asking the same question over and over again and expecting different answers. We DO believe that god exists, but our god is not the same as yours. We don’t believe in the Xtian bible, so making arguments based on what it says is futile. I am happy to see that you are actually reading some of the posts on this site, unlike many of our hate-mailers, but please support your arguments with scientific facts next time.
Thanks for writing, RAmen!
Christianity is an organized religion. Simple belief in God - one or many - is merely deism. It is impossible to have Christianity without calling it such.
