Who do you support?

Published January 6th, 2008 by Bobby Henderson

candidates.jpg While religious organizations are prohibited from recommending and supporting specific political candidates, I want to know who you’d like to see as the next President of the United States.

Mike Huckabee seems to support the inclusion of Creationism into schools/government, and that would be good for Pastafarianism – if our theories were allowed. We’d almost certainly be excluded, but we could then fight for equal treatment.

Ron Paul stands for equality and fairness – I think he’d support Pastafarianism, too. But then, he’s a doctor; with a science background, would he be skeptical of our supernatural theories?

It’s hard to know what Barack Obama or Hillary Clinton would do in office. John Edwards was a trial lawyer. Who knows if he supports Pastafarianism, but if he did, it would be nice to have him on our side.

Mitt Romney is a Mormon and therefore probably has a soft spot for far-out supernatural theories. But would he support our far-out supernatural theory?

Who do you support and why?

I know very little about them all, except that Huckabee is a six-day creationist. So he’s out for sure in my book. I know little about Clintons stance on science, except that I recall her saying that if elected she would shield stem cell research from religious impediments. So therefore she embodies the pro-science spirit of Pastafarianism best, from what little I know. Not saying that that means I would (or would not) vote for her.

Obama just screams “I’m a pirate”. I’m sure he’d allow our noodly theories in the classroom.

Mike Huckabee was as Christian baptist. Somehow, I think he will do everything in his power to suppress the Flying Spaghetti Monster. Obama is the most pirate-like candidate. I would definitely put my support in him.

Not that I support her, Clinton did recently say she would end the war on science. I believe that this was mostly an issue with global warming, but I have no doubt it also pertains to the classroom.

A plus for Ron Paul is his decreasing of Fed government. I dont like some of his views mostly that it would eradicate the civil rights of homosexuals and women’s rights to choose on the national level. It would be up to states to decide what liberties they offer their citizens. And if this can happen, just imagine if states can form their own consensus on global warming, id in schools, or a number other issues. A plus though is that it might be easier to rebuild the Fed govt after Paul that it going to be to fix it after Bush. Maybe it will be a chance to start over.

But, Im liking Obama. I never thought of him as a pirate but I have to agree.

Ron Paul is the only logical choice.

He stands for the constitution which gives us our first amendment and allows us to be Pastafarians.

    He’s the greatest candidate ever.

Mike Gravel. Mike Gravel. Mike Gravel.

Well… I think of the choices given Obama would most support our right to worship as we choose. Indeed, most Pirate-like of the rest for his youth and willingness to confront “the system”. But I think Kucinich would have been most likely to be found out as a closet Pastafarian. Especially after admitting to having seen a UFO.

Ron Paul would support FSM, because he is very “open minded” about theories of evolution/creation:
