I came across your site through Answers in Genesis. I have a couple of comments to make.
Anyone can make up a religion these days. What you propose to people is just silly. Lets be real here.
What is your authority to say how things started? I ask because we must go back to some authority in which we can say such things. Also, how can you then get to Heaven? How are we saved? Why are we in the mess, that we are?
Jesus Christ died for us, so that we could have life. Can you say the same thing about your “God”?
2Pe 2:1
But false prophets arose among the people, just as there will be false teachers among you. 1 These false teachers 2 will 3 infiltrate your midst 4 with destructive heresies, 5 even to the point of 6 denying the Master who bought them. As a result, they will bring 7 swift destruction on themselves.2Pe 2:2
And many will follow their debauched lifestyles. 1 Because of these false teachers, 2 the way of truth will be slandered. 32Pe 2:19
Although these false teachers promise 1 such people 2 freedom, they themselves are enslaved to 3 immorality. 4 For whatever a person succumbs to, to that he is enslaved. 57:13 “Enter through the narrow gate, because the gate is wide and the way is spacious that leads to destruction, and there are many who enter through it. 7:14 But the gate is narrow and the way is difficult that leads to life, and there are few who find it.

“Anyone can make up a religion these days.”
Nothing much changes does it? Seems that anyone could make up silly religions 2000 years ago too.

Why is it that so many people feel the need to insult His noodley goodness?
Who is to say that there is “God”?
You support your cause with a biased old book.
Quote all the nonsense from there you want.
This is a website for people who don’t believe in your “God”.
You can’t convince anyone with that bull you call “the word of God”.
No, I do not hate “God” either.
I just refuse to believe is almighty power over my life when he has done nothing for me and, therefore, I will not devote my short, precious life to his pathetic cult.
Yes, I just called your religion a cult, just like so many of you people call mine.
Hopefully you will be touched by His noodley appendage.
Believe FSM.

‘What is your authority to say how things started? I ask because we must go back to some authority in which we can say such things.’
What’s Christianity’s authority? No evidence supports its claim that the universe was produced by some god. It’s assumptions aren’t based on anything more reliable than human imagination. At least our story is entertaining.
‘Jesus Christ died for us, so that we could have life.’
I’m not sure about this, but I think people lived before Jesus died. If you’re referring to the afterlife I refer you to my previous comment.

‘Jesus Christ died for us, so that we could have life’
No Jesus Christ died because he was a nutter who belived he was the son of God
‘Anyone can make up a religion these days. What you propose to people is just silly. Lets be real here.’
Imagine there was no religion, then someone created a religion where an all mighty being created the world in seven days, made a sacred garden, made a man called adam then made a woman called eve with adams rib. Then banished the only two humans in existence from his sacred garden for eating an apple, got sick of the world so he flooded it but told a man to build a big boat and take two of every animal on and knocked up a virgin (respect)
A person who could come up with that should get locked up
The Flying Spaghetti Monster doesn’t seem so silly now, eh?

What is OUR authority to make up a religion? What was JESUS’ authority to make up a religion? Do you need a special religion-making license? Because I will certainly check in with local law officials if we do.

“Anyone can make up a religion these days.” Hey he’s right. I just made up one about worshiping your socks. And another one about standing on your head on Tuesdays. This is fun!!! Everyone should try it.

Your proposal is just plain silly, how are you and an (approximately) 2000 year old book in any position to say how things started?
The FSM was never pissed at us, so we didn’t need to be saved, as long as we are not a-wholes we get into heaven believing or not, FSM is more forging than your god so get off our backs, stop quoting an old book and actually think for yourself for once.

Hi Joel,
In a page full of so many petty and spiteful letters, it’s nice to find one that’s polite and calm (and grammatically correct)! What you wrote about needing an authority is interesting, and if you’d like to read some classic thinking along those lines, try An Enquiry Concerning Human Understanding by David Hume, and especially chapter 10, which you can find at http://18th.eserver.org/hume-enquiry.html#10. It’s an interesting read and not at all “silly”, to use your term– not a meatball in the whole thing. Hume talks a lot about authorities who “say how things started”, and I think you might find his perspective interesting. It’s not from “these days”– Hume wrote it in 1748. His basic point, though, is this: you get your ideas on religion handed down from people. So do we. Have you ever played telephone? Messages tend to get more garbled over time, not less. Just because a religious revelation is older doesn’t mean it’s automatically “better” somehow. As to how to get to heaven– I’m still not sure there is a heaven (I’d have to just take people’s word on it), but if there is, most religions worldwide agree that generally being nice to people is a good first step. In fact, that’s about the best agreed upon idea among religious persons of all denominations: being nice is a good way to get any existing deity/deities to like you. And pastafarians support the whole be-nice-to-each-other thing: we’re non-violent and like good food! So we agree on that fundamental point, I think.
And, hey, in terms of “being in a mess”: your religion has had 2,000 years to try to fix things. We’ve had three. Has there been a dramatic world decline since 2005?

“Also, how can you then get to Heaven? How are we saved? Why are we in the mess, that we are?”
Why is it the primary goal of Christians to try and escape to heaven?
Dont you think that any reasonable God would like you to at least attempt clean up the mess we made?
The Holiness that is the Flying Spaghetti monster would ask you to help and fix this world. Not blow it off and run away.
Praise to his Noodleness!

What is our authority to say how things started, i will answer that as soon as you tell me what yours is. Our religion isn’t more “silly” then yours. And, if your religion is “right.” and your book is factual, which i highly doubt, then you need not care what we do for we shall, by worshiping a “false” Prophet, bring destruction apon ourselves. Or…. mabye we’re are right and you are wrong. Did that thought ever cross your mind.. How is your book more factual then ours? How is your god more real then our. Just cause our god desides to look like a tasty food he made for us?

Honestly, religion has no authority as realistic. It is the human idea of metaphysical order in which some deity constructed everything. Quite frankly, nothing can prove or disprove such ideas because the very core concept of this idea is that no one can even comprehend it. Its a giant paradox that just pisses off a lot of people.

Actually, thats something i never understood about Christianity. They say “Jesus died so we could live”.
In what way? Would the universe just have exploded or something if he didn’t die for us?

Ahhhh, my favourite christian technique. Showing quotes from the bible themed:
Listen to me. not that guy, no me.
As we dont belive in his god, or the nonsensical ramblings of long forgotten prophets, telling exactly where in thier great book of nonsense certain lies can be found, wastes everyones time.

Captain Joe – they don’t actually mean that. What they mean (and someone correct me if I’m wrong, all I have to go on is primary school teachings) is that when Jesus died, he basically took the blame for all the bad things that Man did before he died, so it was like a clean slate after he died.

Well, your right about one thing. Anyone can make up a Religion, *cough Christianity. Our god didnt have to die for our sins. and, whew, he died for 3 days, but then came back to life? Do you think zombie’s are real too? Im sick of people saying, “well prove god doesnt exist.” it is the most aggrivating line ever uttered. If there is no proof to say something exist’s then it should be considered that it does not exist. Take Superman for instance. There are Countless books written about him, how can you say for a fact that he doesnt exist. Prove he doesnt exist. And dont say he doesnt exist because what he does is physically impossible, cause im fairly certain coming back to life and being able to pass through all matter, along with being invisble is impossible. Prove to me that he or the Flying Spaghetti Monster doesnt exist.
