Google Trends says we’re neck and neck with Intelligent Design. I had no idea it was this close.

Man and even with the complete lack of news we’re doing extremely well!

You should see if you can combine flying spaghetti monster and fsm and then intelligent design, I think that would tip us over.

I think we need to push harder spreading the word, so we can finally rise above intelligent design as the number two theory to evolution.

    Ummm because we’re amazing?

No, you can’t search for FSM: it means “Finite State Machine” in computer science.

Arr, me thinks that soon enough, we shall overcome ID, and maybe THEN we will get closer to our goals!

You know He altered the results with His noodly appendage, right? We will never know what the real situation is…

Where did that sudden surge come from?

  9. 9 Pastopia Jan 27th, 2008 at 3:46 pm

Hahaha, that’s pretty cool. Did something crazy happen in November?

  12. 12 Pixel Pete Jan 27th, 2008 at 9:17 pm

I did one extra and added “FSM” to the bunch, figuring that some people would refer to our Noodly Creator by his abbreviated name. Check it out.

I think hoping to overtake ID is just silly. Without ID, FSM would have no purpose. Of course there’s going to be extremely tight correlation. I’m sure sooner or later, FSM will be included in at least one or two ID classes, as long as the education program that’s providing it isn’t run by devout extremists.

    Way cool !

is there a chance it’s related to Richard Dawkins’s “The God Delusion” taking off ?

  16. 16 Xikaze Jan 28th, 2008 at 6:14 am

I wonder why searches for both peaked so high in november?
Was there some religious uprising I don’t know about?

Ran the trend in google, and I just want to thank the members in Phoenix. The only US City with a higher rate that ID…..you do us and Him proud.

The thing that concerns me is that we seem to be on a greater downward trend then ID, we must pray to the Noodlie one to alter the results.

  19. 19 Ninjaramen Jan 28th, 2008 at 8:20 am

I tried it with FSM and noticed many of the FSM results were for random non-pastafarian links.

The peak occurred because of the new Florida science standards. A few people in Florida don’t like the fact that evolution is actual science and ID came up again. FSM was mentioned in several newspapers as an alternative theory.

Purchase the Gospel

An elaborate spoof on Intelligent Design, The Gospel of the Flying Spaghetti Monster is neither too elaborate nor too spoofy to succeed in nailing the fallacies of ID. It's even wackier than Jonathan Swift's suggestion that the Irish eat their children as a way to keep them from being a burden, and it may offend just as many people, but Henderson, described elsewhere as a 25-year-old "out-of-work physics major," puts satire to the same serious use that Swift did. Oh, yes, it is very funny. -- Scientific American
