As a moderate Christian pastor

As a moderate Christian pastor, I’m afraid I can’t join your religion, but I certainly appreciate its goals. Let it be known that not all Christians are goober-heads and some do believe in more of a live and let live philosophy. I figure that if all religions kind of kept it to “Love God (as you understand God), love your neighbor, and share what you have,” we’d all be better off. Any way, thanks to the FSM prophet for the peace offering.

    Amen and Ramen to that brother. I totally agree with you 100%. You basically summed up what every major religious text is trying to say (at least at the time it was written, rather than re-interpreted by people with a 40 IQ). In a way it’s why I really like the “8 I really rather you didn’ts” because they are perfectly clear and make perfect sense.

    If the old testament, new testament and Koran were all just the one sentence you wrote, can you imagine how much peace and love we would have in the world?

    As far as the live and let live philosophy, I am pretty sure Jesus was one of those. He was a very cool man. He would be proud.

    Thank you for your nice words.
    .
    I can go along with “love your neighbour” and “share what you have” up to a certain point but I do not understand what “love God” is supposed to mean (I am not being ironic, I really do not know).

    Finally a Christian that gets it. It doesn’t matter if he joins or not, that point is that he gets it.

    RAmen, Dread Pirate David. Sounds like you’ve been touched by His Noodly Appendage, whether you choose to acknowledge it or not. Why not try the 30 day free trial? If you’re not completely satisfied with His Noodly Goodness after 30 days, your old god will probably take you back!

    I KNEW there were some cool Christians out there. Dread Pirate David, the FSM will welcome you with open noodly appendages should you ever decide to convert.

    P.S. I liked, particularly, the use of the word “goober-heads.”

    I was moved by both of these quotes (although I am not Christian).
    @Dread Pirate David
    “Love God (as you understand God), love your neighbor, and share what you have,”
    @Anim8or
    “I am pretty sure Jesus was one of those. He was a very cool man. He would be proud.”

    Thank you.

    Nice post brother. Keep up the tolerance. Always good to find someone who is willing to play along. We’d be in a better place if that sorta thing were widespread.

    @Perna de Pau
    As a working definition for “love god”, try using “love the advancement of society and civilization”. Thats all that the belief in god really aims to accomplish.

    @Maurog, Sarah, and especially Dread Pirate David,

    My fellow Pastafarians have pointed out - rightfully so - that on its face your letter is one of if not the most tolerant and embracing of the “opposition” mail sent here. For this I applaud you.
    However, while I cannot say you made any overt false claims in your letter without arguing the logic of the existence of god, let me simply state that the perpetration of mythology as truth carries inherent dangers not otherwise explicitly expressed by your correspondence. Furthermore, I am reasonably sure that if you would elaborate on your religious views, apparent falsehoods could be highlighted.
    In light of the general tone of acceptance and lack of threats in your letter, perhaps I could have been kinder. You are relatively benign and seem somewhat reasonable. Based on your spelling and ability to construct a sentence you really belong on our side anyway. I think maybe you’ll come around. -Fizzmick PaChee

    Why do so many of us seem to imply that Dread Pirate David isn’t quite as ‘good’ as we are if he doesn’t convert?? Who’s being the christian now?!

    I’d like to believe that the Noodly One is just as happy to keep David right where he is, doing what he’s doing… teaching love and tolerance within his own belief system.

    When you think about it… if folks of all religions were more like Dread Pirate David, the FSM would probably never have had to make His presence known to us.

An elaborate spoof on Intelligent Design, The Gospel of the Flying Spaghetti Monster is neither too elaborate nor too spoofy to succeed in nailing the fallacies of ID. It's even wackier than Jonathan Swift's suggestion that the Irish eat their children as a way to keep them from being a burden, and it may offend just as many people, but Henderson, described elsewhere as a 25-year-old "out-of-work physics major," puts satire to the same serious use that Swift did. Oh, yes, it is very funny. -- Scientific American
