Okay, so I know you’re probably not even going to read this, but I had to express myself.
First, a bit of my religious background. I was raised a Baptist, slowly came to realize that I didn’t believe a word the Bible says, and became Wiccan for two years. Then I had a “long dark night of the soul,” more commonly known as existential crisis, during the course of which I became agnostic. However, my closest friends are two devoted Catholics, an atheist, and another Wiccan. I do not make fun of or demean their beliefs, and they do not make fun of or demean me. None of us attempt to convert anyone, although we are willing to share information if asked for it. I am not sure what I think about the Kansas School Board issue, as it concerns the definition of science as well as faith, but I do know that even if I do not agree with some of my friends, I would never tell them they are being illogical.
Recently at my college, a spoken word artist performed. He was also agnostic, and one poem he wrote in particular spoke to me. He compared God to Diet Coke, saying that Diet Coke helps him get through the hard times in the same way that God helps others. So why take that away from people? The majority of Christians aren’t hurting anyone, are they? If their beliefs help them get through their lives without the despair I feel everyday due to my doubts, why ridicule them for it?
If you have actually read all this, thank you for your time. A reply, if you have time to write one, would be appreciated, but you do not have permission to repost my words anywhere.
Sincerely,
Z.E.

ZE listen. christians are hurting America by continuing with this religion nonsense — just like every other religion. Already Europe is begining to get beyond stupid shit like religion. THere a many more athiests (yes athiests, not agnostics) there then here. Remember, Persia was once the most advanced and powerfull empire on earth. Today, we call it Iran. What happened? They fell from power because the people there could not get beyond their stupid ass religion and childish tribalism.
America will probably fall the same way because of christians, so yes, they are hurting someone, our decendants.
And if you are agnostic, then you do believe in at least one thing the bible says… the bible says there is a god. You took that one idea with you when you left that backward religion. I am glad you are at least agnostic, but unless you are a true athiest, and don’t even let in the possiability that god created man… then you took an idea from religion. Don’t deny it.
look, i am kind of agnostic, i don’t believe in a god, but i don’t disbelieve in a god. i guess you could say that i am anti faith, because atheism is a form of faith. it can never be proven if there is a god, but it can also never be disproven that there is a god. I don’t like to just blindly accept something as true, and i respect your beliefs but you are forcing them on other people and claiming that you are better than they, like the line about Persia, which may not be true, and the line stating “I am glad you are at LEAST agnostic…”. this site began as an effort to show the absolute ridiculousness of organized religion, christianity in particular, but you are going so far into atheism that you are beginning to disrespect other people’s reasonable beliefs. And yes, I agree that religion is hurting america, the religious right in particular, remember that religion once inspired people to do good in society. It is the priests, the men who brainwash nations for personal gain, that forced religion into some weird, twisted route.
Atheism is not a form of faith. Faith is believing something w/o evidence, or despite evidence. Atheism is not believing in something because it has no evidence. Also, what are the reasonable beliefs we are disrespecting? Haven’t seen any yet.
Why does this have to be explained to so many?
Faith: (n) 1. To accept a claim as truth without evidance to support the claim. 2. A religious belief system.
Theist: (n) 1. One who believes personally in any god 2. One who discriminates on basis of religion.
Atheist: (n) 1. One who lacks belief in the existance of any god or dieties. 2. One who lacks any religious beliefs.
You said that you would not tell a person if they were “being illogical.” A person’s statements are either logical or illogical. You cannot control this (this is a constant in the universe and it is commonly called “truth”). You can control whether you tell someone or not, but this would be, by definition, deceitful.

DECEIT
1. the act or practice of deceiving; concealment or distortion of the truth for the purpose of misleading; duplicity; fraud; cheating: Once she exposed their deceit, no one ever trusted them again.
2. an act or device intended to deceive; trick; stratagem.
3. the quality of being deceitful; duplicity; falseness: a man full of deceit.

You asked if the majority of Christians were hurting anyone. This is subjective, as it depends upon your definition of the word hurt.
—
HURT
1. to cause bodily injury to; injure: He was badly hurt in the accident.
2. to cause bodily pain to or in: The wound still hurts him.
3. to damage or decrease the efficiency of (a material object) by striking, rough use, improper care, etc.: Moths can’t hurt this suit because it’s mothproof. Dirty oil can hurt a car’s engine.
4. to affect adversely; harm: to hurt one’s reputation; It wouldn’t hurt the lawn if you watered it more often.
5. to cause mental pain to; offend or grieve: She hurt his feelings by not asking him to the party.

All Christians accept truths without proof (such as the creation of the universe, which is not provable). Many also plead others to accept these truths. I am unsure as to whether this is a majority of Christians, but their teachings do state that they should spread “the word of God.” Spreading this “word” causes others to be delusional. If you believe this affects a person adversely (fourth definition), then many Christians are hurting others. If you believe that accepting facts without evidence is not an adverse effect of this, then their beliefs are not inherently hurtful in this sense. Their teachings are predisposed, however, towards causing violent and intolerant action. For instance, their God has stated in his holy book that he is a “jealous God” and does not accept those that hate him. Therefore, a Christian might be led to believe that Pastafarians are an enemy of his/her God and should be harmed. There are also numerous examples of violence brought on by Christian beliefs dating back hundreds of years (from the Crusades to Pastor Fred Phelps). If you believe that causing violent and/or intolerant tendencies in another is harmful, then Christian teachings are inherently harmful. If you believe that causing violent and/or intolerant tendencies is not harmful, then Christian teachings are not harmful.
I appreciate you being so very respectful and not as cruel as the other hate-mailers. This is more or less a movement against any and all Creationism being taught in classes. That’s why we’re keeping this up, in case someone tries to do this again. We want science in the science class, and if you want ID so much, homschool your kid.

I think every one in this world believes in God but they all think in different ways. Every religion has different concept about God. All the people believe in God but in different aspects.
I don’t
Ahhhh, No. If that’s what you think then you are wrong, very wrong.
Um, Danimal, Canada Bri, you do realise you’re responding to a spambot, right?
HA! I can’t tell the difference between a theist and a spam bot!
Theists are like spambots – they try to sell you crazy shit and they never listen to reason.

DOGH! I mean .. ARRRR! Those dirty bots’.
It’s not the powerful weapons that make our military the strongest in the world. It’s not the sophisticated systems that make us the most advanced. The true strength of our military lies in the spirit and skill of our men and women in uniform.
If you are talking about China I would say it is the unquestioning slave mentality and rule-by-fist over a people who are forbidden to have an opinion or think for themselves.
So, XinXin, what the hell does your arrogant post have to do with this website? You appear to be a victim of your own propaganda. Yeah, I noted first-hand the spirit and skill of some of your countrymen in a long-ago war. They kept attacking like zombies even though we slaughtered them in huge numbers. Human life apparently had no value to their commanders. I’m sure they haven’t changed much.
See Keith’s post regarding the unquestioning slave mentality of your military.
It’s another spambot, guys. Proper spelling, a dotcom site in the signature, and a generic, ambiguous message – the signs are all there.
Helpful info you have displayed here thanks.
Dam this Blog is AWESOME. If you wrote this any better i would think you were a super human. lol nice.:)
