Polk County to include Intelligent Design

The Ledger reports that the majority of Polk County, Florida, School Board members support teaching Intelligent Design in addition to evolution in public schools.
It’s unclear if they’re prepared to change the definition of science. Some people are concerned that a supernatural theory will not mesh with the study of the natural world.
Board […]

The Flyers section is growing nicely. The Church is always open to contributions. Thank you.

For years, I have been forced to call myself a Taoist

For years, I have been forced to call myself a Taoist, noting that the rabid believers of God (also known as Allah) stare down my back everywhere I go, demanding that I follow one of their churches. I remember a particular fellow: Anwell, who demanded that I join the Christian faith.
But being an Atheist […]

neat-o-rama’s myths and truths about pirates

From our friends at neat-o-rama, 7 Myths and Truths about Pirates:
We’ve all got an idea of what it was like to be a pirate in the 1700s - but a lot of it is pure Hollywood hooey. Here’s a few of our most common misconceptions about pirates … and the truth about them.
Here’s the link

i think your website is amazing

I think your website is amazing, it’s surely one of the best things to come out of the interweb. I think there is so much misinformation out there, being perpetuated by countless interest groups, religious organizations, governments and such, it is just refreshing to have people like you who make us question what we are […]

aristotle on the phony religiocity of tyrants

A tyrant must put on the appearance of uncommon devotion to religion. Subjects are less apprehensive of illegal treatment from a ruler whom they consider God-fearing and pious. On the other hand, they do less easily move against him, wrongly believing that he has the Gods on his side.
–Aristotle, Politica bk v (ca. 340 […]

Scalzi’s Creation Museum report

Author and blogger John Scalzi has posted an amusing report of his visit to the Creation Museum.
Some time ago he said that he’d visit the museum, which was built near his home, on the condition that his readers donated $250, with the added incentive that any extra money would be given to Americans […]

Even being a Christian, I get it

Great site. Even being a Christian, I get it. :) I don’t think the teaching of so called Intelligent Design has any place in public schools. Faith is not science. Anyhow, long live the FSM. I won’t worship him, but I’ll enjoy his noodly goodness… :)
Have a great day
Tony

Statue resemblance

I took this picture in Thailand a few days ago. Does anyone else thing there is a resemblance between this statue and the FSM? With the many arms, etc. Also, another similarity: both Pastafarianism and Buddhism are peaceful religions. And.. there were a lot of pirates in this area […]

NOVA: Intelligent Design on Trial

NOVA’s most recent program is about the Intelligent Design debate over the last few years. They’ve put together an excellent companion website, and as of November 16th, you can watch the entire program online - I highly recommend it. NOVA always does a fantastic job on their programs and this is no exception. […]

cult takes refuge in cave

CNN reports that a Russian doomsday cult has barricaded themselves in a cave and are waiting for the end of the world.
It’s strange to me that they believe the earth is coming to an end in May 2008, but they’re already in the cave. Six months in a cave is a long […]

iterpretation of inferred evidence distinctly biased

After going through your website, I find that is is ostensibly possible that the world was put into existence by the grace of his noodly goodness. However, I find that your interpretation of the inferred evidence is distinctly biased. Who is to say that the divine noodly appendage did not belong to a Flying Chow […]

FSM Spotted in Second Life

Kevin captured this photo for us:

I don’t really know anything about Second Life - I wonder what the FSM is doing there. Converting people, maybe.. Anyone know?

religious snakebite lady part 2

I received a lot of emails about the post I made yesterday. I’ll try to clarify.
I don’t think the snake-cult lady deserved to die. Just the opposite, I think it could have been prevented.
I don’t support making religious snake-charming cults illegal. Unless they’re endangering other people, government has no right to […]

Woman dies from religious snakebite incident, family sues hospital

A woman in London died after she was bitten by a rattlesnake during a religious service of some sort. Her family is now suing the hospital, claiming that hospital employees made fun of her instead of providing proper treatment.
I want to say something, and it might be offensive.
If the hospital employees ignored her […]

I really find this whole discussion to be rather hilarious

From Beth:
I really find this whole discussion to be rather hilarious…
Let me explain, I’m a xian. Indeed, I am a grad student of theology. Did Bible College… the whole bit. And I also absolutely love CoFSM. I promoted it around the College, and even hosted a pirate day there (though most people didn’t know ALL […]

Greetings from Columbia

This drawing was sent to me by Pastafarian Nicolas from Columbia. I’m happy to see that FSM is spreading worldwide. I think that Che would have approved of our Cause.

Teen challenges moment-of-silence law

ABC News reports:
A 14-year-old girl and her outspoken atheist father filed a federal lawsuit Friday challenging a new Illinois law requiring a brief period of prayer or reflective silence at the start of every school day.
Kulis said the law is an attempt to inject religion into public schools in violation of the First Amendment.
A spokesman […]

Purchase the Gospel

An elaborate spoof on Intelligent Design, The Gospel of the Flying Spaghetti Monster is neither too elaborate nor too spoofy to succeed in nailing the fallacies of ID. It's even wackier than Jonathan Swift's suggestion that the Irish eat their children as a way to keep them from being a burden, and it may offend just as many people, but Henderson, described elsewhere as a 25-year-old "out-of-work physics major," puts satire to the same serious use that Swift did. Oh, yes, it is very funny. -- Scientific American
