The MSU Pastafarians are in the news:
A group at Missouri State University is raising eyebrows with it’s not-so-mainstream take on religion.
The national “Church of the Flying Spaghetti Monster” has a local chapter at MSU, and it’s sending a strong message to students on campus.
It’s the second-largest religious group on Missouri State’s campus, with more than 200 members, including MSU staff.
The article is very good, I encourage everyone to read it here.

This is one of the greatest things I’ve ever seen. Everyone watch:

Update 2: This was Fark’d.

No wonder you’re tired if you haven’t been to bed yet, Nikkiee – it’s lunch time here!!! ;P
Go and enjoy your beauty sleep – You’re looking 15 years younger already! ;)
@ Lizard I finally realised why you think I am such a freeloader! You must be one of those lovely people responsible for the fact that, even though soldiers often work as many as 18 to 20 hours a day for up to six months at a stretch, and that’s during “training,” many of their families still require food stamps to feed their children! I bet you helped put down any silly ideas about giving the soldiers a raise! After all, when someone whose profession would pay oh, at least $65 to start, and he’s making only $24, plus he has to deal with all the extra fun of the added duties only those in uniform deal with, although he works alongside civilian counterparts who are making exatcly what I stated. Plus, he or she can be ripped from their family at a moment’s notice and sent to another country, sans said family, for a few years. Bye daddy, see you after I learn how to walk, talk and cry where are you. But hey, if he or she gets killed, thats ok! As long as they died with all the right conditions met, like they were wearing their seatbelt, that family will get the insurance money! If not, ooopsie! I guess that other parent has to figure out how to move that whole family back to their hometown, since they are now stranded states away from family and friends, and figure out how to support the kids, since they no longer have their soldier to support, and that malfunctioning seatbelt on the last three safety inspections just cost them the insurance money. Or, if they’re lucky, Johnny or Jane comes nack with a serious injury or illness, and the overloaded VA system Waits about a year to process their claim. Off to McDonald’s for you, Military spouse! Since you left your good job in hometown, USA to follow love with your GI. Yeah, disabled vets really are JUST like welfare recipients. I see welfare recipients risking their lives every day for no pay and no thanks too, working 72 hour days (on several occasions I did this, some hallucinations are funny, some scary), going days without bathing because there just is no facility available, even for women… yeah welfare…
Wench Cyka, Brilliant essay, and passionate attempt at trying to make me look unsympathetic to military personnel. Only one slight problem–I’m a veteran of military service– USAF, where I was NCOIC of several Aeromedical Services (Flight Surgeon’s Office) and have so many personal and unit awards and citations, that they require a two page DD-214 in order to document them.
It’s getting late, so I’ll try to address your comments tomorrow.
Let’s just start with a little “teaser.” You claim that a military soldier is making “$24/hr,” as opposed to a civilian, “$65/hr.”
Consider that $24/hr translates to just over $49,000/yr. Now take into consideration; paid housing, pay increase per dependant, hazardous duty (combat) pay, flight pay, paid utilities, no state taxes (if not stationed in home state), cost of living adjustments(COLA), free health care for entire family,(including prescription medication) free education, rediculously low commisary (BX) prices on groceries, shopping, etc.,etc.
Not such a bad deal. I’m not sure how you “spun” my question of whether any of you “heros” on this thread are going to do military service to support the freedom of speech you love to abuse so much, into me being anti-military?? Spinning and blame must be the “in” thing for today’s college limp “noodles.”
$24K a year, sorry I wasn’t more specific, that’s counting all BAH COLA etc etc etc
Versus $65K a year.
And that particular vet that I pulled from for that info was my ex, who got a med discharge after 12 in when they were about to promote him and did not give him retirement, then handed him a lousy 10% disability, so no great veteran’s benefits either, but they still did him a huge favor, since it has now cut his stress and tripled his income, because the civilians get pay raises much faster too.
And no, I am not a “commissary queen” either, I served for 7 myself, to include a light infantry support battalion, that would be army, not air farce. But I am glad you mentioned that “free” housing. I loved trying to keep my son from eating lead paint for the first year of his life, thanks! You really get exactly what you pay for, every penny. I do believe I said that I had defended your right to be an irritating, annoying self-satisfied little prat in my first rant. Right now I am fighting with all I have got to find my way to enough health to stumble my way through enough college that I actually can give back to the VA, because they have helped me greatly, although they are quickly collapsing under crushing weight right now. I am glad you mentioned tons of citations. In my unit, they were generally given to the guy who had his nose so far up the CSM’s behind, he was the first to know what the man had eaten for dinner. He was also the guy who got on everyone’s nerves so bad he got sent to every school, just to get him out of our hair. Therefore, he got promoted quickly, to become Someone Else’s Problem. So, SEP?
PS thanks for tightening my shot group, now I can simply go for know-nothing No-Chance-Outside with a big mouth just looking to get some attention. Bashing others is an easy way to go about it, so you came in here and opened fire, hit a few nerves, got a few responses. I happen to be bored, have insomnia, and yes, have a weakness for knocking bullies down a few pegs. But hey let’s cut to the chase. What you are really after here is just the same old “mine is bigger than yours” routine. Let’s just say I snuck down to the Washington Monument and carved my initials in the stairwell. There, that’s my phallus. What are you packin bud? You are getting very boring and this is the last time I shall allow myself to be baited by you, and to rekindle a favorite old expression JT reminded me of, (much thanks for that JT) go give it a yank, cretin!
Well, Hi there again Lizzy!
Nice to see you are still around :)
Hi Cyka – Nicer to “see” you :D :D
Hey Booty! Well, ya know, it was that old emperor’s new clothes bit. Something is only biting if it is both obvious and true. Like I am sure this dear Lizzy guy will inspire generations of troll with the vitriol I have inspired him to spew, although few other than another vet probably understood half of the insults I hurled at him. I wonder if this guy will even get that I am at this point simply laughing and baiting him? Probably not. Usually the ones who have to roll out their little shadow boxes full of medals (I guarantee you he has them all in order) go ballistic once they hear the NCO joke – No Chance Outside – had to make sure he got that one, they can be a bit slow, although I must say, Lizzy is a bit coherent. I bet I only would have had to put away about three quarters of my vocab to talk to him. Ah dammit, now I have gone and waxed nostalgic. Lizzy has reminded me of a certain sergeant who told me she’d get me kicked out of the army, then she was booted out of an on post class and moved up to HQ. Another classic example of a chestful of medals and nothing underneath. Vitriol anyone? I now serve up Lizzy’s next foaming response, it should be a beauty, to anyone who cares to pick up the baton. Booty, I shall see you soon! And I promise to be just as obnoxious as ever!
