National Geographic promotes FSM

natgrap.jpg

I received the following email from Jonathon:

It is very gratifying to know that Pastafarianism is becoming a mainstream, accepted and acceptable, religion.

The October 2007 National Geographic magazine contained two articles of great interest. One was on global warming. The other was on the decline of the Malacca pirates. Although National Geographic may not have been brave enough to explicitly put two and two together, the connection is there for anyone with open eyes to see.

I completely agree. I don’t think it’s a stretch to think that they’re making a reference to the Pastafarian belief that global warming is related to the decline in pirates. It is a subtle message, but it’s there.

WAIT I was asking if they were making a hobbit movie! I wasn’t saying they had. Otherwise I’m fine (except for maths assignments). Say “hi” to Old Man Willow for me.

I have heard rumours though of a Hobbit movie, though. Have you seen the animated one?

I’ve heard tell of a Hobbit movie, because Sir Ian McKellen is sad that beardy bloke won’t be directing it.
Regardless he wants to play that beardy character (Dumbledore?) he played in the Lord of the Flies(?) movie.

I thought they were still in court over the Hobbit and who was getting the rights to it. Although extremely cautious, I wouldn’t mind Peter getting a crack at it. Although, once again I reiterate, it is a CHILDREN’s book.

BTW. Did you hear Dumbledore was gay? Well he was according to JKR.
He had a crush on Gellert Grindelwald apparently.
There must be so many jokes about Dumbledore taking Gellert Grindelwalds elder wand that the universe isn’t big enough to write them down.

Purchase the Gospel

An elaborate spoof on Intelligent Design, The Gospel of the Flying Spaghetti Monster is neither too elaborate nor too spoofy to succeed in nailing the fallacies of ID. It's even wackier than Jonathan Swift's suggestion that the Irish eat their children as a way to keep them from being a burden, and it may offend just as many people, but Henderson, described elsewhere as a 25-year-old "out-of-work physics major," puts satire to the same serious use that Swift did. Oh, yes, it is very funny. -- Scientific American
