I saw your Church of the Flying Spaghetti Monster website today.
Okay, it’s great to have a bit of a laugh, and I did when I read the bit about ‘our God having bigger balls than yours’ but I think you guys are taking it too far.
10 million people? Get real. No-one believes in that crap. Your only supporters are atheists, which means they don’t believe in a God.
Academic endorsements? You don’t need a PhD to understand God. Having a PhD does not mean that you can make judgements about God and religion, put them in a box and say “this is God”. No-one can do that.
Also, don’t you think that you might be offending some people? Openly discriminating another religion is not regarded as a decent thing to do. This is not the Crusades. Get with the times. We Christians don’t openly insult other religions on web pages, nor do they against us. There is nothing wrong with having a joke without poking fun at others.
Seriously, I think you guys are pathetic.
I’m not even going to try and counter your theories, because I don’t need to, they’re so stupid.
The reason I sent you this email was because I saw your hate mail page and thought I might contribute.
One last thing, to all you so-called ‘Christians’ out there posting hate-mail on this website, I don’t think you’re acting like a Christian if you threaten them with hell, or tell them God will punish them, because of the website.
You’re just as bad as the creators of the website.
Get a life, Mr. Henderson. Stop acting like a primary school kid.
You must be an AMerican, to come up with such crap.
If you want to actually be saved, read the real bible.
Please publish this on your hate mail page. Otherwise writing this email will have been in vain

Hi KaTka and Tessie - welcome to the ship.
.
“Why some people feel the need to bash it is beyond me.”
It’s innate I’m afraid. Well, in nearly 50% of the population it is.
.
@SatanIsBest - morning mate :D - How are things going you horny beast?
Always wanted to know how much a soul is worth? I was thinking of selling mine. Hell - I don’t use it.
What did you get for yours? I was thinking in the range of £40 for mine - about rite you reckon?
@KaTka - you sound quite nice. Too nice maybe for this world. I cannot share your statement, “With all respect towards you and your beliefs,” because I really can’t respect people, and when I say people I mean adults, who are thoughtful, intelligent, and well read, who still have beliefs in invisible all powerful dieties.
.
I think all religions are dangerous, they promote hatred, xenophobia and intolerance. Children should not, ever, be exposed to it. The world should ban it. Will that happen? Never…we all know how dangerous cigerettes are and there are still people fighting to smoke because they have been brainwashed into thinking it is their right. Religion has had many, many hundreds of thousands of years to infect and infest humanity and there will always be a ton of delusional crazies out there.
.
So continue to be nice, but take care about respecting someone for believing in myths. Because if a xian, muslim, hindu, or jew (etc) finds out that you do not believe what they believe, at best they will pity and hate you, at worst, they will murder you.
@IB - It is a sad state of affairs. There are some people who are better off when they can lean on their invisible freind (read addicts here). There seems to be a large segment of the US population that has trouble taking responsibility for its own actions. I am wondering if there is a correlation to the number of “religious” folk out there.
.
Iron Bess - Whoa. That’s… pretty extreme view. I see your point though, and I think that I’ll have to agree with most of it. Maybe I should explain what I meant by respecting, I meant that I respect people’s beliefs, but I don’t and most likely never will appreaciate religions featuring gods. Why, because if you believe in god, that god will most likely not like the other gods. Result: conflicts. I may respect singular teachings of a religion (for example “thou shalt not kill”), but not the whole religion.
.
So that’s what I meant. I respect people, I don’t respect gods who promote war and conflict. I know that world is cruel, and such utopia as a world without religion will never exist, but you just have to cope. Trying to stay as neutral as possible is just one way to do so.
Yes more gobshite from the church:

Jees! Can we declare an international “have sex with a condom” day?
Danni,
.
How about have sex with someone else using a Condom day (HSWSEUACD - Hus-Wus-You-A-Cud)
Just to avoid any confusion.
Today is hump day - so not time like the present.
Archbishop Chimoio says that abstention should be used.
Can you get that in tube form these days can’t you?
Off-topic, but interesting: after DPG’s clarifying of the futile difference between “I don’t believe there is a god”, “I believe there is no god” and “There is no god”, a xian on Itpog came up with this answer:
.
“Ok. I understand.
I was not talking about a religion’ God.
Thanks you for responding.”

So, apparently, some xians separate “religion’ Gods” from other gods?
HI JB,
.
Check out itpog, the thread on the creation museum:

I saved the page into a pdf btw, I suspect it may soon be deleted by a certain Mr. Mills.
@OEW - to be honest with you I don’t really believe that a large percent of the population is ‘leaning’ on their religion or god. What I think is that most people in first world countries have become so used to others doing the thinking for them. IE: media, politicians, tv, etc, that they really don’t spend too much time doing any actual thinking.
.
When I listen to the ‘water cooler gossip’ typically it is about what the latest blond, zooed on drugs, bimbo has done over the weekend. Did Britney cut her hair, is Paris getting out of jail, is Nicole too thin? Who in the 99 levels of the abyss gives one big flying rat’s ass? It scares me to think that there is a huge percent of people out there who doesn’t know who the leader of their own country is, let alone the nation’s closest to them. They can recite stats on baseball players or movies that some actress cum singer starred in, but they couldn’t tell you what the hot topic of discussion is for the next political election, let alone scientific discoveries, new novels or even issues going on for our children’s education.
.
People don’t lean on god, they don’t lean on religion, to me it seems they just have a check list in their mind and allow themselves to be controlled by whatever freak-ass, jerkoff out there who their mama and daddy raised them up believe.
.
Yeah the USA has a big population of fundy crazies, but so do at lot of other developed nations, including my Home and Native Land…And by crazies, I mean people who spend exorbitant amounts of energy doing anything but actually using their brains.

They must have the same problem as Dubya then: they were given the brains (some brains) but not the manual! We can’t even yell at them: “RTFM!” Nor “UYFB!”

RAmen
@ Iron Bess - RAmen to your most recent post! I was talking to my Mom last night on the phone and she started to tear off on some topic that was a waste of time and energy. I said “You know, one of the things about going to school along with everything else I do is that I no longer want to waste time on stuff that doesn’t matter. So, I have two things I actually need to talk to you about…” Just a minor example of *don’t waste my time on irrelevance!*
It’s really quite a crying shame that so many who preach their religion are completely and utterly unaware of its history.
They don’t know how it came to be.
For example, “Born Again Christians” look down on the Catholic church as not Christian. And yet it was the very same Roman Catholic Church that decreed what parts of the Bible would be canon, and what parts would be suppressed. Quote the Bible and pay homage to some guys who somewhere (France, I think) FOUR hundred years AFTER the beginning of the common era, sat down and decided what was the word of God and what wasn’t. Doesn’t really sound like word-of-God stuff to me.
Christianity — before the corporate machines and stylized churches got hold of it — was a beautiful religion that preached, ABOVE ALL THINGS, the pursuit of GNOSIS. That’s Greek for Knowledge.
So, I’m a Christian — I believe that to become the Christ (ascend into heaven), one must seek truth and wisdom through observation, discovery, reason, logic and knowledge. I do so with reverence for my fellow Humans, who seek the Christ in whatever why they choose (even if it is the confused way of the old and new testaments). Love.
It’s all about love. And pasta, of course.
Frankly, I think the universe is rather enjoying this bit of fun and farce.
@Rapt, Rowdiest Wench: I think you’re both right on. One thing about all this that cheers me up greatly is that the core beliefs of ALL legitimate religions agree. It is only the vicious and fanatical whackos - having hijacked the religion of whatever their cultural background happens to be - who insist that God/Allah/Yahweh is on their side. (I note that Buddhists, even though they have troubles of their own, are generally missing from the melee.) In that regard, refusing to let those f*****s distract you and waste your time is probably a good policy. BTW, have you ever noticed that evangelicals and used-car dealers both wear mustard-colored pants and patent leather shoes, and both tell you you better take their deal or lose out FOREVER???? LOFLMAO.

Lovely, how blind can one be? Very blind indeed…
Have they fixed the clock on this thing yet?
Yes. Good.
