this afternoon when I picked up some photos I had shot of a thunderstorm over Lake Superior two nights ago. This is one of the photos I took of the storm—I did NOT see this image of The Flying Spaghetti Monster until AFTER the film was developed at Wal-Mart! I SWEAR!!!

Okay, enough now, after all it is summer and the winter has been long. Oh FSM, warm noodleyness of the world, please hear my plea and make it snow somewhere else, perhaps over the Vatican or Mecca. Threads of B.L.R.? Hmmm… I’ve been to months of therapy and several sessions of transcendental meditation, and I still don’t know what, in the name of all that is good, B.L.R. was trying to say. I don’t know if I can go back there… My therapist assures me that it is alright to look into the past, but maybe the B.L.R. part should stay buried.

An elaborate spoof on Intelligent Design, The Gospel of the Flying Spaghetti Monster is neither too elaborate nor too spoofy to succeed in nailing the fallacies of ID. It's even wackier than Jonathan Swift's suggestion that the Irish eat their children as a way to keep them from being a burden, and it may offend just as many people, but Henderson, described elsewhere as a 25-year-old "out-of-work physics major," puts satire to the same serious use that Swift did. Oh, yes, it is very funny. -- Scientific American
