Clearly a result of the London Pirate Demonstration - A recent statement by the UK prime minister includes the following:

The Government is clear that creationism and intelligent design are not part of the science National Curriculum programmes of study and should not be taught as science.

You lot are obviously just Englishmen a long way from home and run your country accordingly. However the Yanks have gone off on a couple of very bad ideas here and there!

Some people believe that God actually spent 5 days on Yorkshire alone, knocked up the rest of England in half a day and the rest of the world in what was left over.

Hahahahahaha…I’d whisper that one if I were you :))
Seriously though our traditions are definately English/Irish and we still use a lot of the same English slang. But then when it comes to things like sport, oh take for example.. Cricket,(:p) we are totally different…we tend to win :))))

This God guy is a pretty shifty character. Go figure… I mean, he lets his own son get killed, takes a vacation on Yorkshire, messes with the rest of the world for two days, and now is talking to the president of the U.S. like they’re best pals and telling HIM how to run the world. Is God thinking of retiring or something?

    i have never played cricket
    It’s like baseball, right?

  10. 30 - June 23rd, 2007 at 3:57 am - Wench Beth Says:

I think it’s similar. Brits, confirmation?

  11. 31 - June 23rd, 2007 at 3:57 am - Wench Beth Says:

Of course baseball is the best sport on earth so cricket can’t be that far off!

Where I live soccer is definitely the sport of choice! (As it is in most other countries of the world.) Wonder why most of the U.S. is behind in this respect?

Baseball is like cricket, but you hold the bat pointing down and there is only one ‘base’ and two players are in at a time.
    .
Oh and I’ll get hung for this, Cricket is very very very BORING.
I’m really BORING. You can play for five days and it still ends in a draw.
It is incredibly, fantastically, mind numbingly DULL beyond imagination unless you’ve been there.

51/2 days. He knocked the rest of the Universe up on a wet Saturday afternoon. I imagine the Cricket was rained off.
    .
Cricket like baseball? Well, they both use a hard ball and a bat but that’s about it. I forget who said this but they described cricket as the only game that lasts 5 days and still ends up as a draw!
    .
    It’s not a game, it’s Cricket!

it is one of the failings that rub al hinz was speaking about earlier.
I think its probably because we invented a bunch of the other ball sports and so we have alot of choices
    .
also americans as a whole aren’t all that fond of running, another failing

It’s hanged! :D Hey, if you’ve ever been to a match you’d know it’s not about who’s winning on the pitch but who’s supporters can drink more beer! As demonstrated by the length of the plastic beer mug snakes formed in the crowd.
5 days of solid drinking! No wonder we lost the Empire :)

Purchase the Gospel

An elaborate spoof on Intelligent Design, The Gospel of the Flying Spaghetti Monster is neither too elaborate nor too spoofy to succeed in nailing the fallacies of ID. It's even wackier than Jonathan Swift's suggestion that the Irish eat their children as a way to keep them from being a burden, and it may offend just as many people, but Henderson, described elsewhere as a 25-year-old "out-of-work physics major," puts satire to the same serious use that Swift did. Oh, yes, it is very funny. -- Scientific American
