Some neighborhood council in Hampshire banned a man from flying the Jolly Roger at his son’s birthday party.
The article doesn’t mention if he was a Pastafarian, but I would not be surprised. I doubt this was an issue of religious discrimination, more likely just an uptight council. It sounds like he’ll get permission to fly the flag after filing for some permits, but if not, I suggest that he plays the religious discrimination card.
The article is here.

DPG,

I’ve responded to Jeff Mills:
.
http://www.inthepursuitofgod.com/forum/christian-faith-only/4207-how-talk-atheist-friends-30.html#post71392
.
It is deeply oppressive for him to forbid you from expressing your beliefs.
You’re not saying the Christians or even religious people are worthless. You’re saying you found religion to be worthless.
.
Many people claim that religion is a valuable part of their life, it is deeply discriminatory to try and suppress an opposing view like that.

Nice to see you join in at the itpog site.
@Alchemist
Which identity was blown? The one you used on the ‘How to talk to atheists’ never seemed too much out of place. Or was it in another thread? Btw, I’ll probably get up to 100 posts. The only sys admin loving I get is warning, not bannings. Once I get to 100 the url post fest will start big time. One that I’ll include was your ‘50 things to do during mass’ link.

Cap’n Caroline,
.
Try this for a hat:

.
I reckon this will look cute on a lady captain, but might be a bit petite for a gent.
.
I am a bit of a hat fan, and this one in wool felt is probably as good as it is going to get:
.
http://www.partysavers.co.uk/catalog/product_info.php?products_id=181
.
The only thing better than wool felt is rabbit felt.
.
Wool tends to keep its shape better but Rabbit is a finer finish.
.
It isn’t that easy to get rabbit felt but it is worth it if you can…
.
Thumper won’t mind I’m sure!

Well, it stopped raining for a couple of hours, long enough for me to get a few things planted. I got a new battery in my watch also. The swearing has calmed down a little. It has actually been a good day. I still reserve the frying pan option, though.

I wouldn’t know if someone said “frying pan” anywhere else on this site because there’s a serious lack of RECENT COMMENTS.

I have that exact Jolly Roger on my yacht and I fly it occasionally too, but only because im still waiting for the Church of the FSM to start selling pirate fish flags. Im could make one I suppose but Im far to lazy for that sort of thing.
Anyway, as I’ve ranted before, what kinda religion with pirates in it dos’nt sell pirate flags.

Ah but of course you cannot show a Jolly Roger at a party because it’s already reserved for much more important jobs, which I bet get the blessing of military priests too. From http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Jolly_roger : In World War II it became common practice for the submarines of the Royal Navy and Royal Australian Navy to fly the Jolly Roger on completion of a successful combat mission where some action had taken place, but as an indicator of bravado and stealth rather than of lawlessness. The Jolly Roger is now the emblem of the Royal Navy Submarine Service.[8]
The Jolly Roger was brought to the attention of a post World War II public when HMS Conqueror flew the Jolly Roger on her return from the Falklands War having sunk ARA General Belgrano. In May 1991 Oberon class submarines HMS Opossum and her sister HMS Otus returned to the submarine base HMS Dolphin in Gosport from patrol in the Persian Gulf flying Jolly Rogers, the only indication that they had been involved in alleged SAS and SBS reconnaissance operations[9]. In 1999 HMS Splendid participated in the Kosovo Conflict and became the first Royal Navy submarine to fire a cruise missile in anger. On her return to Faslane, on July 9, 1999, Splendid flew the Jolly Roger.
