More on the server issues

Things are still broken, I’m sorry. They’ll be fixed soon. Here’s what happened:

The Church of the FSM site lives on a dedicated server, hosted by one of the largest hosting companies in the US. We get a lot of traffic, and the site runs off database-driven dynamic publishing engine (nerds, read: wordpress/mysql). Whenever we are linked by a site like digg or reddit or boingboing, the server goes down. We were stable unless traffic was unusually high. We upgraded memory and tweaked the settings. That helped but didn’t fix the problems, the server still went down a couple times a month.

We reprovisioned the server, installed a newer OS, moved to a faster machine, but it’s not enough. We’re still bogged down.

So, we’re moving to a new hosting company that has built for us a very powerful server. We’re making the switch today or tomorrow and then things should be finally stable.

Thank you for bearing with me.

I’ve had my soul stolen twice also. I guess I don’t have to worry about its eternal damnation now, do I?

Hey! All the republican candidates for US President are about 20 miles from where I sit right now! The debate is going on, I guess. I couldn’t even stomach the Democratic candidates debating. There’s no way I can watch it. I should have at least gone to Manchester in a wench outfit and try to get on national television. Oh, well.

On the bright side, at least I don’t have to listen to Dubya debate. He’s on his way out!!! Yay!!!! He can’t steal another election because of the two-term limit on holding Presidential office. Yay!!!!

And, I agree chocolate is sensual. It’s like a drug.
    .
The best chocolate I’ve ever had was at a Godiva shop in Manhattan last summer. I and my two daughters were waiting in line to see J.K. Rowling, Stephen King, and John Irving at Radio City Music Hall. I saw the Godiva Shop across the street and sent my oldest daughter to get something for us. She came back with the most luscious lime truffle covered in dark chocolate. It was a life-changing event.

Yes, you are the lead soul. The soul-collecting God of Satire needs you to act as an assistant, or even a vice-Captain or vice-God. Or perhaps you’re a Demigod. Was one of your parents mortal and the other divine? In any case, you were the first soul to be collected; therefore, you’re the at the top of the List of Souls.

And about chocolate: Belgian chocolate can’t be beat, and Godiva isn’t even the best of it (by far, even…) Neuhaus, Callebaut, Côte d’Or, Corné Toison d’Or… start drooling, hahahahahahaha. I don’t have a soul anymore, but plenty of real chocolate!

Oh, and the same goes for beer. I recently changed my breweries top three (all of them brewing Geuze): Drie Fonteinen, Cantillon, Hanssens. Voilà! And on the side, because an other type of beer: Orval (one of the 6 Trappist beers). Re-voilà!!

An elaborate spoof on Intelligent Design, The Gospel of the Flying Spaghetti Monster is neither too elaborate nor too spoofy to succeed in nailing the fallacies of ID. It's even wackier than Jonathan Swift's suggestion that the Irish eat their children as a way to keep them from being a burden, and it may offend just as many people, but Henderson, described elsewhere as a 25-year-old "out-of-work physics major," puts satire to the same serious use that Swift did.
