More on the server issues

Things are still broken, I’m sorry. They’ll be fixed soon. Here’s what happened:

The Church of the FSM site lives on a dedicated server, hosted by one of the largest hosting companies in the US. We get a lot of traffic, and the site runs off database-driven dynamic publishing engine (nerds, read: wordpress/mysql). Whenever we are linked by a site like digg or reddit or boingboing, the server goes down. We were stable unless traffic was unusually high. We upgraded memory and tweaked the settings. That helped but didn’t fix the problems, the server still went down a couple times a month.

We reprovisioned the server, installed a newer OS, moved to a faster machine, but it’s not enough. We’re still bogged down.

So, we’re moving to a new hosting company that has built for us a very powerful server. We’re making the switch today or tomorrow and then things should be finally stable.

Thank you for bearing with me.

    Tee Hee.
My soul trap has captured 29 souls!
    Eat that Aristotle!

Don’t worry all souls will be kept in safe keeping a treated humanely.
And I certainly won’t let those fundies get hold of them!
Basically it’s a bit like Horcruxes.
Your soul is safer with me than in your own body.

    I have a black trilby. It’s cool.

To ۞… cool, that means I can’t die if you have one of my Horcruxes. Aristotle has two of them… now, what do I do with the other three? (One, of course, stays with me.) Ok, FSM’ers, three more of you have to adopt the soul-stealing site as your own so I can hide my remaining Horcruxes!

The 29th was mine! Couldn’t do much with it anyway, except attract doorknockers or so… Captain, I’m nominated n00b of the month again too!

And about chocolate: Belgian chocolate can’t be beat, and Godiva isn’t even the best of it (by far, even…) Neuhaus, Callebaut, Côte d’Or, Corné Toison d’Or… start drooling, hahahahahahaha. I don’t have a soul anymore, but plenty of real chocolate!
    .
Oh, and the same goes for beer. I recently changed my breweries top three (all of them brewing Geuze): Drie Fonteinen, Cantillon, Hanssens. Voilà! And on the side, because an other type of beer: Orval (one of the 6 Trappist beers). Re-voilà!!
    .
RAmen nevertheless, poor kiddies you all :)

The article isn’t complete, of course: the more Disciples I add, the more “interactive”stuff has to be added for each of them. The interaction is becoming difficult, but only one Disciple to go.

I tried to find out which were your contributions on the 2012 page, but it’s all a but fuzzy. And since I even don’t know a thing about those Olympics, nor about the logo…

^ If I click your link it takes me to some mind-something site. If I type in your link it takes me to BBC, but I can’t find a CoFSM article.

@ Mike - If you come back here (good luck, given that we have no Recent Comments), you should know that ۞ is using interesting-looking links to steal peoples souls! Quite the marketing campaign he’s got going! If you want to give your soul away and have it taken care of, click on Wench Beth’s site and Lilith and I will take good care of it for you!

Purchase the Gospel

An elaborate spoof on Intelligent Design, The Gospel of the Flying Spaghetti Monster is neither too elaborate nor too spoofy to succeed in nailing the fallacies of ID. It's even wackier than Jonathan Swift's suggestion that the Irish eat their children as a way to keep them from being a burden, and it may offend just as many people, but Henderson, described elsewhere as a 25-year-old "out-of-work physics major," puts satire to the same serious use that Swift did. Oh, yes, it is very funny. -- Scientific American
