The 4-Hour Workweek

4hourworkweek.jpg

I just read this book titled The 4-Hour Workweek by Tim Ferriss. It’s by far the best business/productivity book I’ve ever read. It’s all about cutting out the garbage that robs your time, and pursuing the things that matter.

I think maybe I liked it so much because I’ve been trying to avoid a “real job” so hard for the last couple years.

There’s a lot of really important, counter-intuitive ideas laid out in this book. Like, for instance: Busyness is a form of laziness to avoid doing the important things you need to do. I have days where I check my email 10+ times a day, and get nothing done.

If you’re interested in this kind of stuff, and I suspect a lot of Pastafarians are, check out Tim’s blog here. Or go buy the book here.

    @ Boarg - Wahahahaha!!!

@ Lilith - I think we need a new direction for the slogan! I thought of that one, and this will be a challenge!!

To Testing Point Design… that is awesome artwork and there’s no reason it shouldn’t have been posted immediately on this site. No one seems to know where Prophet Bobby’s head is nowadays, though, so don’t feel personally offended. You did a great job and you will be blessed by the FSM!

Thanks for the kind words, Beth. I’ve heard that about the Prophet, so I won’t take it personally. Thanks again!

It may have been related to Bobby’s laptop getting knicked. He said he had lost a good deal of FSM stuff when some rascal kidds took his laptop. Your pictures may have been among the lost items.

The artwork seems to get posted more often when there’s a shortage of hate-mail, you might have just sent it in during a busy week, I’m glad you brought the links to us though, it’s really cool

Welcome back to CoFSM. Check the link I posted a bit earlier on this thread, the one to the Irish Atheists website, it’s rather good. Nice list of quotes, good collection of videos, mostly from YouTube, library of relevant literature. Someone from Ireland should find something to like. And you might want to join up with the Irish version of the book pledge, see ‘Books for TDs’.

    Hi,

That was rather a long down-time! From what I’m picking up around the site it’s not that infrequent either?

I have a friend who runs a site with extremely high vols of traffic (happybirthdaytoyou.com) who for 9 yrs has used pair.com with I think NO downtime in the last 5 or 6. I know, not being a business, it may be you’ve got to go with a budget option but thought I’d let you know anyway.

I was thinking… (that’s all the smoke you see in the air ;)… a four-hour work week is not that outrageous and certainly not uncommon, because when you’re in upper management you delegate all the work to the people below you, and you end up having to do very little yourself.
    .
So… how do you skip directly to upper management without having to be a grunt for years??

Beth: start your own company. That way you’ll be right at the top.

  20. 120 - May 29th, 2007 at 4:40 pm - what to wear Says:

    Please help me!!!
Their is a brand new Creationist Museum and I have no idea what to wear to the grand opening.
I was debating between full pirate regalia and a something a little bit more subtle like the fsm tee shirt where the speghetti touches a baby

I am really torn on what to wear. I also think the meseum could be a great place to spread his word!!!! They had protesters this weekend and I did not even know.

Seriously though it is scary they have a 60000 ft2 meseum dedicated to this crap presented as science.

I live two hours away and if anybody ever wants to go with me I would love to go and make fun of the place.

Here is the website of the meseum it is scary

Purchase the Gospel

An elaborate spoof on Intelligent Design, The Gospel of the Flying Spaghetti Monster is neither too elaborate nor too spoofy to succeed in nailing the fallacies of ID. It's even wackier than Jonathan Swift's suggestion that the Irish eat their children as a way to keep them from being a burden, and it may offend just as many people, but Henderson, described elsewhere as a 25-year-old "out-of-work physics major," puts satire to the same serious use that Swift did. Oh, yes, it is very funny. -- Scientific American
