The 4-Hour Workweek

4hourworkweek.jpg

I just read this book titled The 4-Hour Workweek by Tim Ferriss. It’s by far the best business/productivity book I’ve ever read. It’s all about cutting out the garbage that robs your time, and pursuing the things that matter.

I think maybe I liked it so much because I’ve been trying to avoid a “real job” so hard for the last couple years.

There’s a lot of really important, counter-intuitive ideas laid out in this book. Like, for instance: Busyness is a form of laziness to avoid doing the important things you need to do. I have days where I check my email 10+ times a day, and get nothing done.

If you’re interested in this kind of stuff, and I suspect a lot of Pastafarians are, check out Tim’s blog here. Or go buy the book here.

@ BCA - I like your platform ideas! (No offense to Peter Popoff, who is also running for president!) I was kinda fishing to see if you were him but it appears not! (You never can tell when the regulars around here are playing one or two or six more people!) I will be voting Pastafarian! I’m fed up with politics as usual in this country.

@ WN - Shame on them! I didn’t think to click on the penguin link (shame on me!). Wench Beth needs to get after them with her pot of spagetti noodles!

@ WN - I am a bad Pastafarian!! *hangs head in shame* I have read the gospel and completely forgot about the penguins! Thanks for the reminder. :)))

If the story be true, maybe the FSM altered your memory. (;))

“I had a look that link and when I clicked on the Penquin within the article, I found no mention of His Noodlyness!”
    .
We’ll just have to edit it then. It needs correction!

Don’t know that I would be too good at that….plus I have a bit of a time shortage here.

To Bearded Clam Admirer… I second Rowdy’s thoughts! You have an excellent platform. I agree with you on all counts! You have my support as well, although I need to ask if you’d be willing to go for vice-president (Peter Popoff’s running mate)? I kinda promised Peter that I’d vote for him already.

@ WB - I love the idea of BCA being VP! If he’s willing. Are you willing, BCA?

  12. 72 Bearded Clam Admirer May 23rd, 2007 at 10:00 pm

Veep? The job nobody wants? Hmmm

  13. 73 Rowdier Wench May 23rd, 2007 at 10:14 pm

@ BCA - Oh dear. Wench Beth was going to run for the job (she and Dutch Pasta Guy almost came to a frying pan duel over the veep/campaign manager issue). She is willing to give it up to you if you want it. Keep in mind that this is the Pastafarian Party and it will be much different than usual! It was not meant as an insult, I promise!

    @Wench Nikkiee - It’s been “fixed.”

  15. 75 Wench Beth May 23rd, 2007 at 10:23 pm

No, no, BCA — the vice-president of the Pastafarian Party is extremely important!! You are the right hand man!! (Just look at B*sh and Ch*ney!! Sorry for using profanity there.) Besides, if you don’t accept the VP nomination then it’s going to have to be me or Alchemist… then we’re really talking trouble! (hee hee)

  16. 76 Wench Beth May 23rd, 2007 at 10:26 pm

Oops, I meant DPG, not Alchemist!! Sorry ’bout that!! Although… hmmm… if BCA doesn’t accept then Alchemist would certainly make a good VP… certain plants would be legalized immediately… wink, wink ;)

Incidendally, that paragraph had the worst spelling out of the entire article. I found only one spelling mistake, outside of that section.

It looks sooo much nicer now, doesn’t it?

  18. 78 Rowdier Wench May 23rd, 2007 at 10:30 pm

@ BCA - The torture is unbearable! You and Peter both running for president and I want to support both of you!! You are one of my favorite posters here, and I hope to heck you aren’t offended! I have to go now - I’ll be back tomorrow or Friday but I didn’t want to leave without saying - no offense meant!

  19. 79 Wench Beth May 23rd, 2007 at 10:31 pm

    Quite nice revisions, Aristotle!

  20. 80 Aristotle, God of Satire May 23rd, 2007 at 10:32 pm

And look at me, pointing out bad grammar when I can’t even manage to spell the first word in my post, “incidentally.”

Purchase the Gospel

An elaborate spoof on Intelligent Design, The Gospel of the Flying Spaghetti Monster is neither too elaborate nor too spoofy to succeed in nailing the fallacies of ID. It's even wackier than Jonathan Swift's suggestion that the Irish eat their children as a way to keep them from being a burden, and it may offend just as many people, but Henderson, described elsewhere as a 25-year-old "out-of-work physics major," puts satire to the same serious use that Swift did. Oh, yes, it is very funny. -- Scientific American
