The 4-Hour Workweek

4hourworkweek.jpg

I just read this book titled The 4-Hour Workweek by Tim Ferriss. It’s by far the best business/productivity book I’ve ever read. It’s all about cutting out the garbage that robs your time, and pursuing the things that matter.

I think maybe I liked it so much because I’ve been trying to avoid a “real job” so hard for the last couple years.

There’s a lot of really important, counter-intuitive ideas laid out in this book. Like, for instance: Busyness is a form of laziness to avoid doing the important things you need to do. I have days where I check my email 10+ times a day, and get nothing done.

If you’re interested in this kind of stuff, and I suspect a lot of Pastafarians are, check out Tim’s blog here. Or go buy the book here.

    RW,

Yes, I am a former Marine and probably the one to which you are referring. I can’t imagine there are so many Pastafarians named Josh who are former Marines on this site that you can’t keep track of them all. It’s too bad the Christian fundies got in bed with the GOP. I’d rather they formed their own party and got bent.

@ Josh - Welcome back!! (Unless you’ve been around and I’ve missed your posts? Possible considering I’m not here all the time, in spite of what Dread Wench thinks!! hahahaha!) My brother was a Marine for 8 years. I have so much respect for you guys!
    .
I agree with you about the fundies and the GOP. I am despondent over the whole thing. This nation is becoming so very polarized, it’s tragic. It will get uglier too.

BCA (my husband thought your name was very interesting, by the way) - Were you talking about the wife-swapping nutjob lady? What an absolute freak of nature.

  4. 44 Rowdier Wench May 23rd, 2007 at 6:38 pm

@ SaucyWench - Since he’s not talking about Ann Coulter, I have no idea who he means. I haven’t watch TV in so long I’m way out of the loop.

Ann Coulter….my dad likes her. Then again he’s Mister Super-Republican so there you go. (I really can’t figure out why. He’s the exact opposite of who you’d expect to be a Super-Republican. And yet he listens to radio talkshow hosts who think that Dora the Explorer show is a bad influence….)

Prophet Bobby’s check-the-email-ten-times-to-avoid-real-work sure strikes a bell. Maybe ’cause at this very second I should be working on a science project……eh. I’m graduating anyway.

@ IGK - Hiya! It’s hard to figure people out sometimes, don’t you think? And yeah, Bobby hit home with me too! Ouch!

hey thanks bobby my man, i’ll definitely check out this book. And to all of you nay-sayers (@suspicious, meow_mix), the rediculousness of the set 40 hour working week, along with that of the idea of intelligent design, is one of the basic ideologies of pastafarianism. I myself have this very day convinced my boss to pay my full wage for just 30 work hours per week.
    Bring on Friday!

@ noodle - Congrats! Are you one of those people who could sell ice to an eskimo?!? :))))

I have been proven wrong. With this many posts, this thread will not go to waste! I shall condone for my sins immediately.

Oh and while I’m here, when is the chat coming back? It was promised that it would be fixed awhile back and still no word on any progress. I am eagerly awaiting it’s return!

They dont need Ice, they have plenty of that around them.
What they really need is this pure, frozen water I have in the back of this truck! Not only does it keep you cool and shady in the long, bright, summer, but it also quenches your thirst!

I had a look that link and when I clicked on the Penquin within the article, I found no mention of His Noodlyness! To wit

    .
Now I distinctly remember these quotes, linked below, referencing the Penguin as being a the more than likely descendant of “The Midgit”.

What I want to know is:
How is such an oversight possible on the Uncylopedia Penguin article?

Purchase the Gospel

An elaborate spoof on Intelligent Design, The Gospel of the Flying Spaghetti Monster is neither too elaborate nor too spoofy to succeed in nailing the fallacies of ID. It's even wackier than Jonathan Swift's suggestion that the Irish eat their children as a way to keep them from being a burden, and it may offend just as many people, but Henderson, described elsewhere as a 25-year-old "out-of-work physics major," puts satire to the same serious use that Swift did. Oh, yes, it is very funny. -- Scientific American
