Someone broke into my apartment today

Someone broke in while we were gone for 30 minutes and stole a bunch of stuff. It could have been much worse, but these things I will miss:

  • IBM Thinkpad T43 Laptop - with a giant black pirate-fish decal on it. This had a LOT of FSM-related stuff that was in progress. I had a lot of stuff backed up, but it’s all older versions.
  • Nkon D200 DSLR Camera with Nikkor 18-200mm VR Lens. It was less than 2 weeks old. Any pictures taken with it will have my name and email in the exif metadata.

If anyone comes across the above items by some chance, let me know please. I have the serial numbers.
Remember to back up your work frequently, and keep the backup somewhere else.

Bastards! Let us pray for something to happen to them, like an onion falling on their heads. Or their car breaking down every time they turn the ignition key. Or for them to see the error of their way, return your stuff, and convert.

i believe this is a good thing

My theory (a bit far fetched):
pirates broke into the appartment to steal a computer to moniter thier stocks and shares to further thier financial situation to allow a strong revival in pirate activity in the next 2 years. And the camera, erm thats for…taking pictures of strippers??

Seconded WB’s police thing - over here you need a crime number if you are going to claim on insurance.
So what is number 3 bad thing going to be?

He says he’s a JW and they never hand out old leaflets (May 2005).
It sounds (to me, anyway) that these incidents could be related. The fact that your computer was taken only adds to my suspicions.

May I suggest checking Flickr for exif meta? I know that it can be viewed with most photos, maybe they can search the exif for you?

P.S. hope you have your receipts? RA-men

Purchase the Gospel

An elaborate spoof on Intelligent Design, The Gospel of the Flying Spaghetti Monster is neither too elaborate nor too spoofy to succeed in nailing the fallacies of ID. It's even wackier than Jonathan Swift's suggestion that the Irish eat their children as a way to keep them from being a burden, and it may offend just as many people, but Henderson, described elsewhere as a 25-year-old "out-of-work physics major," puts satire to the same serious use that Swift did. Oh, yes, it is very funny. -- Scientific American
