I have a question – how the hell does Aristotle know how many times he has posted?
(And why doesn’t he get a life? ;P ;) LOL!)
I suppose I ought to go and have a shower and get dressed – ah lazy Sunday mornings – shame about the kids running amok. *shrug*
    Have a nice day all!

Would you rather be safe or free?
    .
The question a clear choice between free and in danger and safe but confined.
Free and in danger would be something like walking in downtown LA at 1:00am.
Almost everyone (including myself) would elect to stay home.
    .
I say the answer is clear – safe.

Hey, I like to live dangerously a little bit – I’ve done Brixton late on a Saturday night, and all sorts of other dodgy things – luckily I have always been fine (although I completely ruined a pair of stockings walking home without shoes on from Old Compton Street in the rain at 3am)
I would rather have to opportunity to do dangerous things than be stuck being good all the time.
I am sure pirates are supposed to live dangerously ;)

    Booty,
    .
    I don’t disagree with you.
When my wife and I were first dating she lived off Cold Harbour Lane (very dodgey area between Brixton and Camberwell) so I’ve done my share of staggering around South London drunk at night.
    .
Look also at societies atttitude to travel (all forms) – risks accepted in exchange for freedom.
    .
My point is that although it is a trade-off when push comes to shove we ultimately pick safety.
    .
Society struggles perpetually to balance freedom and safety. Sometimes the freedom of one group in exchange for the safety of another.
    .
We continue to have a society and we continue, when the decisions get hardest, to pick safety.

Well, ultimately you are saying it is a life or death choice – n which case most people (especially atheists, I assume) would choose life, but if it is just a little risk, then a lot of times you will take in for the chance of more fun!
Ah Camberwell – remember it well – when was that? Could be we disturbed you with our drunken singing once or twice!

@Aristotle, re #9 – Micronesians, there is evidence they had settlments in southern Canada, but eventually returned to SE Asia. Also, Greek/and or Phonecians apparently traded with the Indians up in Michigan, traveling up the Mississippi River for the copper. Also, there is a species of grape in Virginia, previously known to grow only in the Mediteranian.

An elaborate spoof on Intelligent Design, The Gospel of the Flying Spaghetti Monster is neither too elaborate nor too spoofy to succeed in nailing the fallacies of ID. It's even wackier than Jonathan Swift's suggestion that the Irish eat their children as a way to keep them from being a burden, and it may offend just as many people, but Henderson, described elsewhere as a 25-year-old "out-of-work physics major," puts satire to the same serious use that Swift did. Oh, yes, it is very funny. -- Scientific American
