You Atheists think you have got it all figured out huh?

You Atheists think you have got it all figured out huh? So you THINK you know that there is no God so you make up this ridiculous fake religion. The Church of the Flying Spaghetti Monster? COME ON!! As if making fun of Christians for believing in God wasn’t bad enough you have to mock us by making up The Flying Spaghetti monster? Yeah, I know that an atheist made this crap up, because no one is stupid enough to actually believe Pasta is our Almighty God. This is totally wrong and whoever started this is seriously going to pay unless you repent. Because if you don’t, you and all your believers are all going to burn in HELL for eternity. So pick up a Bible, and READ IT!!

Sincerely,
A Strong Christian

could be wrong, but as far as ive been taught the bible seems to be stealing quite a lot from messoptamian religion
ex. the epic of gilgamesh with noahs arc and another with adam and eve that i cant remember the name of, generaly the same story anyways.
another thing is the bibles version of god is stealing from the greeks(Zeus) and as many people have pointed out it contradicts itself quite often. personnaly i think the bible is just a set of moral values, which are decent, but have out worn their usefullness with new technology and theories.

hey, now. Please don’t call him “damn christian”. I don’t care if you call him a “damn” anything else, but remember, we’re not here to make fun of people because of what they think. We’re only here to protest them teaching what they think and passing it off as science. There’s an important difference. I know a lot of christians, even athiest-hating christians, who are still great people. Pastafarianism has no arguement with Christianity, unless it tryes to force itself on others. It’s not our purpose to hate them for being christians.
    -PoU
PS- and by the way, telling him to “get a life” is about as lame as what he is saying to us. Thats really not helping.
PPS- also, we athiests do not have it all figured out. we’re still working on it. thats what science is really for ;)

“…hell is eternal separation from God.”
I don’t know how they figure that. If a person decides to be an atheist, they are consciously separating themselves from the concept of God. So why would eternal separation from that which we chose separation be a bad thing? The devils and demons with pitchforks and fiery nunchuks seem like the better persuader for ecclesiastic slackers like us. I’m just saying…

I am personally offended that someone decided to make up christianity to mock the flying spaghetti monster and unintelligent design.

I find your clearly ‘made up to irritate us’ Christian religion offensive to the FSM.

However, there is anecdotal evidence to support Christianity.

My sister became pregnant at 15 and insisted she’d never had sex with her boyfriend. He confirmed this. Therefore it IS possible to have virgin births! Thus prooving Mary and Josephs story is true also.

AND, i came home two weeks ago to find that my last four pack of Miller lites had disappeared and all that was left was a bottle of Evian Mineral Water. My housemate says he didnt drink my beer, therefore it must be a miracle.
This prooves that Jesus turning water to wine is possible if I have witnessed the beer turning into mineral water first hand.

I don’t wish to support Christianity with this , but hey guys, we have to agree it is compelling evidence to support their case! Possibly the most compelling evidence in support of christianity seen by man.

May the FSM forgive my moment of doubt….

Us pastafarians have nothing against Christianity. Some of us are even Christians (take me for example). This site was started as a reaction to using the teachings of Scientology as a possible theory of evolution in Science classes for high school kids, which you will probably agree is not a good idea.

Please do not feel offended, we don’t mean to laugh at religous people as a whole, only the ridiculous Church of Scientology.

    Kind regards,

    Wim

    .
Sounds like a very Dutch name. Always nice to meet (presumably) people from my country of birth. Although I’m a fraid I must say you’re making a mess of things in your post, not making the Dutch look good at all. It wasn’t Scientology but Intelligent Design against which this site was originally aimed. And the membership has broadened a great deal and now certainly includes many who do have a strong disapproval of Christianity, as well as several, if not most, other religions (take me for example). Someone said it very well on an earlier thread when he noted this website has helped many to come out of their non-religious closet. And I hope it will do so for many more to come. When you make your first post here you’re often welcomed by the regulars, you feel you are among like-minded, rational thinking people (even if we do enjoy filling up these threads mostly with complete BS). If you stick around you do make online friends, we have a nice ‘inner circle’ of people who keep in touch through the FSM disciples group. So three cheers for this place as a nice online meeting place for non-believers.
    .
We are an open-minded bunch btw, it’s certainly not a place just for atheists. You’re welcome to stick around too, if you don’t mind your beliefs being subjected to some rather valid questions and criticisms now and then.

Thanks to all of you for the input.
Yes, Beth already filtered out the angles bit. And I’ll put in the exact quote from the letter.
I know the sneeze-creation bit is not in the Gospel, but I seem to remember it from somewhere. And in the ID parodying tradition, it’s probably a good thing that some things don’t check out? Maybe I’ll put in the same disclaimer as in the Gospel: any errors are a test of the readers faith. That one is broad enough to be lawyer-proof probably.

    Wow, you’re right…

    (Deut 13:1-5)
1 If a prophet, or one who foretells by dreams, appears among you and announces to you a miraculous sign or wonder, 2 and if the sign or wonder of which he has spoken takes place, and he says, “Let us follow other gods” (gods you have not known) “and let us worship them,” 3 you must not listen to the words of that prophet or dreamer. The LORD your God is testing you to find out whether you love him with all your heart and with all your soul. 4 It is the LORD your God you must follow, and him you must revere. Keep his commands and obey him; serve him and hold fast to him. 5 That prophet or dreamer must be put to death, because he preached rebellion against the LORD your God, who brought you out of Egypt and redeemed you from the land of slavery; he has tried to turn you from the way the LORD your God commanded you to follow. You must purge the evil from among you.

This is not meant to be offensive, by any means, just something for you to think about. First off, all of you sound so stereotypical of Christians. It’s like those tornado victims that live in, oddly enough, tornado alley. For some reason, only the trashy folks end up on TV, screaming about how it sounded “just like a train”… Do you really think that every person affected by that tornado acts like that? Of course not, but all we ever see is those particular people. Personally, I think you should lead others to your beleifs by your actions… Not to say that I am, by any means, a “holy” person. Everyone messes up. Everyone sins. The Bible never tells you you can not sin, it simply tells you to try your best not to. That’s what “repent” really means. To realize you are wrong, and to try not to do that anymore. Here’s point two. There are two Testaments to the Bible, old and new. If you read them separately, they sound completely different. God in the old testament was vengeful, which is why people who read that portion alone get an inaccurate picture of who God is today. God in the new testament is loving, caring, still vengeful, but with just cause. Also, the rules changed between the two testaments. Some will say, “well, if God is perfect, then how could he change?” It’s definately a logical question, but its just as easy as you having a mood swing. Are you any different? No. Finally, and most importantly, science always seems to get thrown into the religeous argument. Athiests always make claim that Religion is just a fairy tale, stories of a fictional “god” told to us by our parents before bedtime. It’s called faith. You place your faith in God, that, despite the fact that you have no proof whatsoever that He exists, you beleive He does. My point is, though, that science is based on unproven precepts as well. Take for instance The Big Bang. It’s only a theory. Unable to be proven because we were not there to see it, and no evidence exists today that it occured. Just like none of us were there to see Christ crucified. Or God create the Earth. Or the creation of man. Anyway, I’ll end with that.

Going off of Jordan’s above statement and comments. Let me start out by saying i am neither a believer or a disbeliever. I am agnostic. I am currently in a humanities class and you guys all don’t seem to realize that there are more religions out there. Christianity may be the main one in the United States but people believe many different things. So when Jordan says that everyone above is being stereotypical he doesn’t point the finger back at himself. I am a little more atheist than anything else but i think i would want to study all religions before i say a thing about any of them. I think i have studied and thought about many different religions. A lot of them get interpreted in millions of different ways. Not all Christians that read the same bible will come out thinking the same things. So the theory of ID should definitely not be taught in schools with science and evolution. Evolution has been closely proven from everyones definition and concept of science. ID has no prof out there to do with science. That kind of stuff needs to be left in different classes. Unless u are going to teach every religion that someone comes up with then u can’t just pick and choose one. If u are saying that ID should be taught then you sound really ignorant. The right way for u to go against all of this is by saying not to teach evolution, which would also be stupid but it would be the better of the ways for you to go about it. Why would an atheist need to “repent” if they don’t believe in God? I have good morals and i don’t think there is any way for anyone to prove to me God exists, i am a good person because i want to be, not because of fear and “GOD”. Jordan says “Athiests always make claim that Religion is just a fairy tale, stories of a fictional “god” told to us by our parents before bedtime. It’s called faith. You place your faith in God, that, despite the fact that you have no proof whatsoever that He exists, you beleive He does. My point is, though, that science is based on unproven precepts as well. Take for instance The Big Bang. It’s only a theory. Unable to be proven because we were not there to see it, and no evidence exists today that it occured.” Faith means nothing, faith is a way of saying u believe something and hope its true. atleast atheists usually go toward the science end that actually shows stuff happening over time. Come on Adam and Eve is not prof neither is the virgin mary. grow up. So i grew up christian and i question that and don’t believe most of it. Science has a lot of concepts and things that go with today: chemistry, elements, atoms, and other things like that. These things make sense to teach. Argue for a class in a religion you want, not to add more to science that shouldn’t be there. Unless you come out with a teachable ID theory, that makes sense, than leave it alone and go and study a little and get back to me…..None of us where there even a short time ago either, its all hear-say….think before u talk, hear-say is like rumors, it gets changed person to person. science equations and evidence has been documented….the bible is not documentation, it can’t be redone to show again, it is written, there is no tangible unwritten thing, fossil, rock formation, data. Its all just stories that YOU have FAITH in…….Thanks for the time…..from a person that doesn’t know all the answers but doesn’t think that people think about every part of things, think about religion and faith, question it!!!!!

I LOVE all my fellow pastafarians, but I just COULDN’T let that statement stand!
    .
    (I’m anal, like that.)
    .
“Evidence” is precisely the difference between Science and Religion. There is PLENTY of evidence for theories like “The Big Bang” and “Evolution.”
    .
By the way, the word “theory” does NOT mean that we don’t know it to be true. It means that we don’t have a COMPLETE and TOTAL understanding of ALL aspects.
    .
You know what else is “just a theory?” GRAVITY! Just because we don’t have ALL the answers about gravity, doesn’t mean we are floating away!
    .
Science insists on calling concepts it doesn’t ENTIRELY understand “theories”, because science is absolutely DETERMINED not to make ANY claims to understand something that it doesn’t.
    .
That is JUST THE OPPOSITE of religion. Religion claims to understand things that it COULD NOT POSSIBLY know, all the time!
    .
Trust me. Science knows a hell of lot more about how the universe operates, than religion.
    .
    Don’t hate me!

They are talking with exactly the same MOUTH!! Are they TWIN ROBOTS from the BINARY STAR SYSTEMS of Old Testa-dementia, and New Testa-dementia?
    .
    Holy mood swings, Batman!!!
    .
    YAARRR!!!!
    .
PS Now, is that the “vengeful, which-is-why-people-who-read-that-portion-alone-and-get-an-inaccurate-picture-of-who-Batman-is-today” Batman?
    .
    or,
    .
the “loving, caring, still vengeful (I love that part), but with just cause” Batman?
    .
    Just asking

Ok well to defend myself…..first of all i was just showing the understanding side of myself….and trying to tell Jordan why he, in my opinion, is wrong. But the truth is that half the stuff i said was me being understanding…..i absolute do not believe in God because i think it is absolutely silly thing to believe in……i have had many debates about this very subject with many different people and if you straight up tell them they are ignorant and that you see no reasoning to what they are saying….they get mad and offended…..i definitely believe in the big bang theory and evolution and i understand what u guys are saying…..
TigerBoy: U went way to far by saying that about me and i think that having a discussion with u over this is pointless…bc its fighting and agreeing…..And ur the one throwing the mean words….u have to say things constructively and even when u do, its still not very nice….prove me wrong with facts like u did above….bc those i can respond to…..

    You are RIGHT, Andrea.
    .
    I apologize. I apologize. I apologize.
    .
I was trying to be funny. But, it was MEAN, and I shouldn’t have been making fun of you, or Jordan. That was UNCALLED FOR.
    .
I apologize to Jordan, as well.
    .
    Please forgive, PASTA PEOPLE!!!
    .
I am REALLY glad that you are a SEEKER OF TRUTH! It is SO HARD to sort through all the religious propaganda out there. You were probably raised with religious lies, just like I was. But, now, we have come to KNOW the TRUE NOODLE GLORY!!!!
    .

    :)

    .
    YAARRR!!!!
    .
PS Again, I am REALLY sorry.
    Don’t hate me, Andrea.

I have read the Bible several times, and each time I become even more convinced of the sheer stupidity of Christianity (although the main reason is to have something to counter freaking preaching bastards like yourself with). Here is an idea; how can anybody who doesn’t believe in Hell burn in it? Atheists are more pure than religious people, because you can’t sin if you don’t believe in it, yet those who do can. Such preaching s**t as what you espouse is one of the main reasons people hate established religions. Purge the world of fundamentalists, and religion will be something worth following. Well, except for Pastafarianism, which is always worth following now as it is. And admittedly, your hate-mail made me pick up my Gospel of the Flying Spaghetti Monster and read it, because I sure as heck don’t want to end up in a Hell of stale beer and VD-ridden strippers!

To the strong Christian, I am a christian and you learn in the bible not to judge others that only god can. You can not tell the creator of this site he is going to hell. That is judging him and that makes you just as bad. Anyone can see the humor in this site, you need to take the stick out your ass and laugh!

    @Me Myself and I
Welcome to the CoFSM. As a Christian you’ll find yourself in the minority, but don’t let that keep you away. We welcome those who think different too. Especially if they are prepared to engage in a bit of debate about their beliefs. If you like, please tell us why you are a Christian.

An elaborate spoof on Intelligent Design, The Gospel of the Flying Spaghetti Monster is neither too elaborate nor too spoofy to succeed in nailing the fallacies of ID. It's even wackier than Jonathan Swift's suggestion that the Irish eat their children as a way to keep them from being a burden, and it may offend just as many people, but Henderson, described elsewhere as a 25-year-old "out-of-work physics major," puts satire to the same serious use that Swift did. Oh, yes, it is very funny. -- Scientific American
