paris fsm sighting

I spotted this curious Flying Spaghetti Monster-like creature in Paris… It doesn’t have meatballs, but it sure has a pirate hat (maybe it’s a vegan version?)! Hope you like it :-).

    It’s FSM travelling icognito!

  2. 2 Wench Nikkiee Mar 19th, 2007 at 4:07 pm

    Yes…definitely think that is a pirate hat and probably right about the vegan version too. There are a few vegie Pirates around CoFSM

  3. 3 Jean Bart Mar 19th, 2007 at 4:17 pm

    Arrrgh, that be iNcognito, of course. Could be an international sign for veggie Pirates’ restaurants worldwide too… “Get It Here, Don’t Mind The Meatballs!”

  4. 4 LynkStar Mar 19th, 2007 at 4:21 pm

    It’s the FSM’s veggie cousin. He joined the Godly Veggie Pirate Navy at the age of 7.

    This lot loose in such a prolific wine-producing country in the world would be loads of fun!

    That FSM totally looks like he’s up to something. Shady.

  10. 10 Kristina Mar 19th, 2007 at 9:07 pm

    Praise be to the vegan FSM! Let us worship all forms in which He presents himself to us.

  11. 11 Wench Beth Mar 19th, 2007 at 10:54 pm

    He’s really cute. I guess the FSM, being all-powerful, can appear as a cutie any time He wants.

    Le monstre de spaghettis volant est partout, même dans le pays où le créationisme est le moins probable de s’installer.

  13. 13 Arthur Mar 20th, 2007 at 10:00 am

    I’m with Nick on the shady bit… has anyone checked him for a goatee? I imagine there’s an equivalent for the FSM to God and the Devil, and this character seems as likely a suspect as any…

    Ah, oui oui, St. Jimmy, le MSV est tres incroyable. Je suis intimide de son appendage nouille.

    I’d try good ole Aussie slang but…I don’t know any…we’re just soooo Americanised…I should be “Skippy the Bush Kangaroo” but instead I’m a god damned smart mouthed wabbit…*insert god damned smart mouthed wabbit*

    Was there another Batman on the site at some point? Someone asked me if I was the Batman who was imitating God. I have no idea what they were talking about…

    I was going to try “va te faire foutre” but wasn’t sure of the spelling - still not - apologies to anyone who holds the French language sacred - Alchemist has probably mauled it a bit :) meh :)

  30. 30 Iron gill Kidd Mar 20th, 2007 at 7:31 pm

    Gah, no more french! It reminds me of how I took it in class for five years and can barely say ‘hello’, ‘how are you’, and ‘my name is’. (Yeaah, not my particular specialty, french…)

    @Flower
    “Ooh, every time I see a post from Thumper my heart goes all a-flutter!”…don’t worry my stinky little love muffin…I have that effect on kill joys, fundies and rancid trolls everywhere…I’d never be nasty to you so therefore “fluttery” is not necessary…I’ve decided to add you to the FSM-mas card list…

    Spag Bog monster ran into me yesterday down in Australia, he didn’t last long…

    R.I.P Flying Spaghetti Monster

  35. 35 Wench Beth Mar 20th, 2007 at 9:00 pm

    No one has a problem with gay people here, so what’s your point, dipshit?

  36. 36 DutchPastaGuy Mar 21st, 2007 at 2:51 am

    Ludicrous post anyway. The FSM is timeless and therefore by definition immortal.

  37. 37 Storm Petrel Mar 21st, 2007 at 2:55 am

    So we wait a while for the FSM to be reborn/raise Itself from the dead, shouldn’t take long, just look at how quickly It created the world

  38. 38 Thumper â„¢ Mar 21st, 2007 at 4:41 am

    @Jingles is gay
    I’m guessing you’ve gotten onto poor ole Jingles ‘puter and played a funny joke now haven’t you??? Jingles may or may not be gay but he most certainly is a beer drinkin’, cutlass weildin’, ALF lovin’ outstandin’ specimen of Aussie manhood…you and your mates on the other hand look to me like a pack ‘a’ galahs…

  39. 39 Wench Nikkiee Mar 21st, 2007 at 5:01 am

    @Thumper
    I’ll second that! Oops…the bar is calling me back :)
    Catch you later

    I think those “miracle” observers should be called in! Did you notice if the monster was crying? I think I see some tears gleaming in its eyes! C’mon, you all can see them, right?

    .
    Nope, Varthonai asked you if you were the Batman he pretended to be God to. In other words, did you ever discuss something here with Varthonai/God? Some of you have, I haven’t (not my cup of tea, and it happened outside my mainpage-time). There’s only ONE real Batman here!

    FSM ama tutti! carnivori, vegetariani e pirati!
    che bello!

  43. 43 DutchPastaGuy Mar 23rd, 2007 at 6:11 am

    @Vera Fedele
    Not sure I catch all of that, but I believe you’re saying the FSM loves all of us, carnivores, vegetarians and pirates. Well indeed. All who open their heart to him can feel the warm embrace of His noodly appendages. Welcome to CoFSM, please hang around for a bit if you like.

  44. 44 Vera Fedele Mar 23rd, 2007 at 9:26 am

    sì! (FSM loves italians too!).

    And the Turks, too…they’re saying that evolutionary theory is the source of terrorism:

  47. 47 DutchPastaGuy Mar 26th, 2007 at 2:55 pm

    @Mike T
    Don’t worry, the story of creationist DVDs coming from Turkey has been around for a while. The French are wonderfully secular, few in France will buy into the rubbish.

    Although I would love it to have been the FSM, I’ll have to argue that that’s probably a Physalia physalis: http://www3.nationalgeographic.com/animals/invertebrates/portuguese-man-of-war.html … Maybe they’re the FSM’s aquatic priests!

Purchase the Gospel

An elaborate spoof on Intelligent Design, The Gospel of the Flying Spaghetti Monster is neither too elaborate nor too spoofy to succeed in nailing the fallacies of ID. It's even wackier than Jonathan Swift's suggestion that the Irish eat their children as a way to keep them from being a burden, and it may offend just as many people, but Henderson, described elsewhere as a 25-year-old "out-of-work physics major," puts satire to the same serious use that Swift did. Oh, yes, it is very funny. -- Scientific American
