paris fsm sighting

I spotted this curious Flying Spaghetti Monster-like creature in Paris… It doesn’t have meatballs, but it sure has a pirate hat (maybe it’s a vegan version?)! Hope you like it :-).

    @Batman Mar 20th, 2007 at 6:05 pm “Was there another Batman on the site at some point? Someone asked me if I was the Batman who was imitating God. I have no idea what they were talking about…”
    .
    Nope, Varthonai asked you if you were the Batman he pretended to be God to. In other words, did you ever discuss something here with Varthonai/God? Some of you have, I haven’t (not my cup of tea, and it happened outside my mainpage-time). There’s only ONE real Batman here!

    Not sure I catch all of that, but I believe you’re saying the FSM loves all of us, carnivores, vegetarians and pirates. Well indeed. All who open their heart to him can feel the warm embrace of His noodly appendages. Welcome to CoFSM, please hang around for a bit if you like.

    And the Turks, too…they’re saying that evolutionary theory is the source of terrorism:

    @Mike T
    Don’t worry, the story of creationist DVDs coming from Turkey has been around for a while. The French are wonderfully secular, few in France will buy into the rubbish.

    The way it hangs over one side makes it look more like a pirate beret.

    Although I would love it to have been the FSM, I’ll have to argue that that’s probably a Physalia physalis: http://www3.nationalgeographic.com/animals/invertebrates/portuguese-man-of-war.html … Maybe they’re the FSM’s aquatic priests!

Purchase the Gospel

An elaborate spoof on Intelligent Design, The Gospel of the Flying Spaghetti Monster is neither too elaborate nor too spoofy to succeed in nailing the fallacies of ID. It's even wackier than Jonathan Swift's suggestion that the Irish eat their children as a way to keep them from being a burden, and it may offend just as many people, but Henderson, described elsewhere as a 25-year-old "out-of-work physics major," puts satire to the same serious use that Swift did. Oh, yes, it is very funny. -- Scientific American
