    @Praying for us
    First, don’t pray for me. It bugs me when people say they are praying for me, it makes me feel like I am being forced into being an unwilling participant in their delusions.
    .
    Second, that is a truly appalling demonstration of propaganda. I find it incredibly callous and offensive that anyone would use images of human suffering and pain to promote a)a freakin’ music video, and b)their own religious belief’s agenda. It shows a lack of consideration for the people in those pictures, and a callousness to suggest that such occurences are the will of your “supreme God.”
    .
    Third, while I do agree with you that the world is in a terrible state and something must be done, I don’t think praying is really going to do the trick. I think relief efforts might be more effective. I think that electing responsible world leaders is important. I think America’s president stepping down and ceasing his “war on terror in the name of God” would be a great first step.
    .
    Lastly, if this is your view of the world and you believe the end days are near, I am reluctantly impressed that you are able to function as a human being, however nominally. What a pessimistic, overly dramatic, and doom-ish way of looking at things. Go have a beer, and lighten up a bit, and realize that if your God does exist and is responsible for these atrocities, then maybe he isn’t someone you should be looking up to.
    .
    Bloody hell, I’m irked now, and it is bedtime, so I can’t even stay here and continue to tell you what a poon I think you are. AND WHATEVER YOU DO, DON’T PRAY FOR ME!! Eeesh…

    @ Iron Gill Kidd & Batman

    You argue against it. I suggest reading a Ezekiel 38-39 to evaluate it yourself. I dont think i talked down to anyone, just suggested reading. It isn’t in your face. I know this site is not meant to be taken this seriously though i take exception to your arguments. I simply was sharing a view from a christian perspective. This site offers an opportunity to post comments so i am taking advantage to understand why one believes the bible is outdated or false doctrine.

    I spoke in terms of theology and offered images that help illustrate what i see in the bible, the format of the video was centered on images that help support the scripture provided. As FSM posters purport in most threads, there is an implication that unless you see physical evidence of something than don’t bother sharing.

    I shared with at elast scripture and a presentation no different than what some videos on MTV provide, except the images selected are public domain photo’s utilized in a manner that depicts violence in the world to create awareness.

    Most Americans are blind to events occuring overseas. We hear the same old garbage on TV and move on to our own thing. Notice how selective the media is on what is newsworthy than look up a news source overseas like the BBC or Israeli news.

    I am against war, but acknowledge it is necessary. Democrats and Republicans both have been in power if my history serves me well. No leader in power is for the average American, so to look to our leadership for the answer is futile. Just because the general view in the Senate/Congress is to pull out does not make that the best choice. The region is unstable and we have to stay the course. Our National Security is dependant upon it. Cant close the border because it isnt popular. So who do you vote into power to solve the American disaster abroad? You say responsible leaders.
    Im sorry i dont see one and have not seen one in a very long time.

    There is no foreseeable resolution so the outlook is gloomy. I dont sit at night spitting nails. It is what it is, but i have a hope in Jesus that is certain. God is not responsible for what mankind has done since the creation account in Genesis. God is patiently waiting but will end it soon. God has proven mankind cannot govern without divine leadership.

    From the time of Adam we have been over to human government until the Levitical laws were instituted. Man failed in all things because we are violent, incapable of holding the law. The current state of moral decay in the world is evidence of that.

    The state America has fallen under will leave us wondering when it all comes down on us, our failing economy and recession we are about to enter. Each person mired in debt past their eyeballs, government chipping away at personal liberty & freedom of speech particularly against christians. These rights infringe on your own. Net neutrality laws being proposed should be enough to worry free thinking Americans but most lazy Americans would rather play video games and pretend we will live like kings forever. The apathy and laziness in this country is bringing it down. WE outsource our jobs to exploit impoverished 3rd world countries. Education America is subpar and unions want more money.

    WE can all talk a good talk and say “vote more responsible leaders” or “we need to create more jobs” but politicians have been saying that for as long as politics have been around. Alot of talk and each generation gets worse and worse because all politicians have special interest groups backing them. These groups get kickbacks in the form of advancing their own agenda’s. Lobbyists & money rule the politicians and not one of them from Clinton to Mccain are worth their salt.

    The prophetic stage is set and we are waiting to see what happens next. At least be aware and read a few chapters before you argue and mock people. Evidence in Ezekiel 38-39 can be seen with a few clicks to credible news sources and it is pretty compelling.

    ok.. as requested i had a read of the whole Gog Magog thing… wow, you offer this up as an argument in favour of religion?… lets see (apologies for the long post. feel free to invoke the 3 scroll rule)
    .
    “…39:6 And I will send fire upon Magog and those who inhabit the coastlands in safety; and they will know that I am the LORD…” so basically i’ll wipe out the orince your enemy, and of course anyone who happens to be nearby, maybe living in coastal areas minding their own business. yep that omnipotence and forgiveness just shines through.
    .
    ” 39:7 My holy name I will make known in the midst of My people Israel; and I will not let My holy name be profaned any more And the nations will know that I am the LORD, the Holy One in Israel…” just a little ego problem here i think. thought he was above all that ego thing? besides what does it matter if they profane?
    .
    “…39:13 “Even all the people of the land will bury them; and it will be to their renown on the day that I (BF)glorify Myself,” declares the Lord GOD…” so here god is revelling in causing the death of thousands. People we are to believe he created, gave free will to, but didn’t bother looking after and then murdered because they didn’t fit into his plan. murdering bastard.
    .
    “…39:23 The nations will know that the house of Israel went into exile for their iniquity because they acted treacherously against Me, and I hid My face from them; so I gave them into the hand of their adversaries, and all of them fell by the sword…” so far from being the loving caring father type, their punishment for not following his every word (imagine that, it’s not like they had free will or anything that they might make the odd mistake with is it?) is to be punished for generations (what did the children do wrong again?) with poverty, starvation, enslavement and painful death. Yep that old forgiveness streak shines like a diamond in a pile of poo there.
    .
    Praying for You. if this is your god, and he does exist. (which obviously most rational beings doubt) then you can have the nasty, vengeful, egotistical bastard. I can’t see anything there of merit, in fact if he were human there’d be a war crimes trial for crimes against humanity and genocide.

  14. 254 kev3056 Mar 10th, 2007 at 9:36 am

    @Navigator
    Nice, if I had the patience to ever actually read part of the bible, i would have gotten those same conclusions from that part.
    @Praying
    You really shouldn’t be worried about the end of the world, after all, the afterlife is so much better right?

    @Praying For You
    I’m curious as to why you see war as necessary. Yes I agree that the world is travelling up Shit’s Creek very quickly, but to relate this to the passages you mentioned (without quoting–is this just a means of making people look it up so you can rest assured that you’ve made them read the bible?) has no more merit than to relate quantum logic to the tooth fairy. The possibility exists, but the unlikelihood highly outweighs it.

    @Praying for (anyone but myself, please)
    First of all, don’t tell me not to mock you. I will mock you if I bloody well please. Your fire and brimstone preachy attitude is exactly my problem with most organized religions today, and it is ludicrous. I will say as I please. Feel free to mock back, a sense of humor might demonstrate that you are not a completely lost cause, but don’t presume to tell me what to say or think.
    .
    I have noticed of late that while many religions rely on the followers guilt and shame to keep them in line, lately there has been a slight shift. With sex all over TV, and drinking more openly engaged in, and rich and famous and successful people “baring all” to the world, we live in a society that makes shame a rather obsolete concept. So religions have turned to fear. You are all worse than the terrorists, you know that? You preach of the end of days, which is basically preaching hopelessness. Yes, the world is becoming a more dangerous place, and yes I think something should be done about it, but religion keeps us all so divided that there is no group large enough or strong enough to really make a stand. And telling people all is hopeless and that we best get our repenting hats on and wait it out is certainly not the first step towards any sort of cohesive action.
    .
    This stupid post is all over the place, because you piss me the fuck off. Don’t you dare tell me all is hopeless! Don’t you fucking dare tell me that people are incapable of governing themselves, and showing compassion and kindness. Every person is more than capable of it. It is ignoranus’ like yourself that are responsible for the lack of tolerance, and the hate crimes, and websites like GodHatesFags, and you make me fucking sick. SICK!! Sit and watch footage of people suffering and dying all over the world… what occurs to you? Do you immediately try to find a way to help those in your immediate area? Do you go to the soup kitchens to hand out food to the hungry? Do you donate your time and money to charitable causes that help people lead better lives? NO, you sit in whatever cave it is that you are currently living in, and you throw up your hands and say “humanity is hopeless, best wait for God to come and take care of everything, and while I’m waiting I’ll do my best to instill this sense of hopelessness in others” People like YOU are part of the problem, you are incapable of any sort of positive action, instead you sit around being negative and defeatist IN THE NAME OF GOD!
    .
    Sorry for the language, but I’m pissed. I don’t know what rock you crawled out from under, but I suggest you crawl back under it and wait quietly for the end of the world, while the rest of try to live our lives based on hope and compassion. Fuck.

    @Batman
    *Slow clapping*
    *gets faster*
    *STANDING OVATION!!*
    You make good points, however its not hopelessness that is the problem, although it certainly is a part of it, the problem is Apathy. If he actually cared about what he saw when he watched people suffering all over the world, he would try and so something about it, or at least help out someone around him that was in need of it.
    .

  18. 258 Batman Mar 10th, 2007 at 10:14 am

    @kev3056
    Yeah, I was trying to say apathy, but to be honest I could not think of the word. Not going to lie, when I get mad, I lose the ability to argue as well as I would like. *sheepish grin* I even stutter sometimes when I am arguing with people. Not good…
    .
    Anyways, thanks! Apathy is the downfall of everything… and also the leading cause of hopelessness. If you are too apathetic to try and improve on a situation, the situation gets worse and worse, until it begins to seem hopeless.

  19. 259 Metallama Mar 10th, 2007 at 10:24 am

    Oh Noodlyness, I am so in the mood to rip on the great visionary “srv”. Unfortunately, it doesn’t take more than the IQ of a rusty doorknob to perish the average Christian’s comments on FSM.

    Though I would like to add that most fundamentalistic Christians who post here have a tendency to ridicule themselves. Ofcourse, that doesn’t make it any less fun to underline every bit of controversy regarding either their comments, or their religion.

    Now I’m hungry! Noodles, anyone?

  20. 260 SaucyWench Mar 10th, 2007 at 10:37 am

    @ Praying For You - I think praying is great. If it makes you feel better and makes you change your behavior in some way toward the betterment of all, wonderful! I really wonder about the true affect praying has on conditions here on Earth, though. Also, as you are aware, I’m sure, Christians are not the only believers who place faith in concentrating thought to affect change on this plane. I believe “As above, so below” is a concept from neo-Pagan, Earth-based religions. If it’s all the same to you, I’ll hug a tree at the vernal equinox and observe a moment of oneness with the cosmos. Pray for me if you must, but I’ll be blaspheming my way to inner peace, thank you very much.

An elaborate spoof on Intelligent Design, The Gospel of the Flying Spaghetti Monster is neither too elaborate nor too spoofy to succeed in nailing the fallacies of ID. It's even wackier than Jonathan Swift's suggestion that the Irish eat their children as a way to keep them from being a burden, and it may offend just as many people, but Henderson, described elsewhere as a 25-year-old "out-of-work physics major," puts satire to the same serious use that Swift did.
