Middle one’s my favorite…I shouldn’t give it to my highly Christian girlfriend, though. O.O

I’m a bit concerned that the middle one depicts a cat being brutalized.
    .
“Ships Cat” may not be the most high profile position but it’s actually a very important part of a well oiled pirate ships operational readiness.
    .
You get mice gnawing through the grog barrel and who ya gonna call?
    Arrrrrrramen.

@ Ships Cat – I have no idea why but it looked like a bear to me. So you are safe best I can tell. What color are you, BTW? I’m very fond of cats…really, no jokes implied. :)

“I’m very fond of cats…really, no jokes implied. :)” None taken.
I’m a tom cat with fluffy purple fur on one side and shaved on the other – been this way since the ships FSM-mas party.

FSM-mas? How do you celebrate that? Do enlighten.
That is a bear getting … um … killed. Not a cat.

Lets see…I’m trying to remember the FSM-mas party – got it! You dress up in your best regalia, hang a photo of his noodlestness on the wall, get drunk, get drunker and shave the cat after it passes out.

@ Ships Cat – LOL again! I’ve been hitting the whiskey-cano tonight and am thoroughly enjoying all of this! :)

@The FSM loves you – I think “Holiday” is more of a season than an event, and it sounds like the FSM-mas party was quite an event!

To make up for the rude remark I’ve got a joke:
    .
Bobby Henderson walks into a bar with a cat and an ostrich. Bobby buys a round, then the ostrich and then Bobby etc…all night. Eventually the barman says to Bobby, “whats wrong with that cat? It hasn’t bought a drink all night!” and Bobby replies, “A few years ago I discovered the FSM and brought it’s noodley goodness to the world…in return it granted me a wish.”
“What did you wish for”, the barmaan asked and Bobby replied, “a bird with long legs and a tight pussy!”…boom boom.
    .
    Ok – sorry about that.
    .
[Note any resemblance to Bobby Henderson or Ships Cat is purely coincidental]

Love the cards. The first one, though, looks suspiciously like a pair of hairy testicles. Or is that just me?

The FMS-mas comments got me thinking again. We really do need to start setting up local chapters of the CotFSM. We could get together periodically and have spaghetti dinners like the Catholics do (I wonder if they realize they’re worhsipping our god when they do that). I, for one, would love to go to the Olive Garden, or some other Italian restaurant, in full Pirate regalia with other Pastafarians for a night of beer and pasta. I say we press the Prophet Bobby to let us set up local chapters. If a school in our area started talking about teaching ID, we could show up too. What do you guys think?

  21. 21 - the spaghetti shaman - Feb 15th, 2007

That’s a great idea, but aren’t we a bit thin on the ground? I don’t know anyone around my way who is pastafarian. (Actually, I have no idea – are any of you guys from the East Midlands??)

  22. 22 - Josh the Pirate - Feb 15th, 2007

I live in South-East Virgnia, so I can’t imagine there’d be many Pastafarians around. But even if there’s only a few, I want to be the Holy Pirate and have loyal prostrate wenches…I mean, uh…I want to get together and have pasta and beer! If there’s ever a lawsuit against a board of education to have Unintelligent Design taught next to Intelligent Design, we need to have believers in UD, petitions ready to sign, etc. The Prophet Bobby adamantly claims the religion is for real, so let’s get some local chapters started and official memberships created.

I live in MD, i personally know three other Pastafarians and one of them knows two others. I think this going to an italian restruant in full pirate regalia is a GREAT idea. I will try and get us all together and do that someday, (only 17 though so no beer for me).

I live in Oklahoma – Baptist country. For those of you unfamiliar with that breed of insanity, thank the FSM! I can illustrate this perfectly – in my fair city it is illegal to drink beer on public property. I love the idea of getting together…right now, the only Pastafarians I know of here are me and my husband!

Norfolk, here. A pirate ship, while cool, seems a waste of parishoners’ money. We need to raise money for lawsuits, pamphlets, etc. I don’t know how many people we can convert with random pamphlets, but it’s probably more than with a pirate ship.

I live in New Mexico and I think I am the only Pastafarian in the state (due to the fact that the high temperature last summer was 106 F). I wish there were more of you around here! I love Josh the Pirate’s idea of setting up local chapters — but so far I’d have to be president, secretary and treasurer all myself :(

I know we’re a “little thin on the ground,” but that’s why we need to set up local chapters. TO WIN MORE CONVERTS! FSM fish on our cars and posting in here are going to get us more wenches, which is what this is all about, really. We need to make up flyers to hand/mail out and post them online so anyone can print. We need to walk the local malls in full pirate/wench regalia handing out flyers to kids. We need to crash Catholics’ spaghetti dinners and thank them for worshipping our god (with local news coverage, of course). Etc etc. I’m sure you guys are full of ideas too.

Aaaarr! We need a pirate ship so we can plunder. We also need one so we can give the pirates and wenches chores to do. Swab that deck! Scrape those barnacles! Raise the Jolly Roger, aplunderin’ we go. Aaaaaarrr! No, our mission is to get more pirates to stop global warming and to thank the all powerful Flying Spaghetti Monster for his noodly appendages. Without them we would all drift into space!

    @PP

I didn’t think I said anything to the contrary. I’m just saying that we need to do more to get the word out. Like canvas mall parking lots and put flyers in the windsheilds of cars that have Darwin Fish or Freedom From Religion bumper stickers. Those are the people most likely to join the CotFSM and I think a targeted approach like that would bring in a lot of converts.

The one good thing about Leicester is there actually is a pirate ship (well, a ship) that is used for worship (it’s a pub) which is perfect for pastafarians!

An elaborate spoof on Intelligent Design, The Gospel of the Flying Spaghetti Monster is neither too elaborate nor too spoofy to succeed in nailing the fallacies of ID. It's even wackier than Jonathan Swift's suggestion that the Irish eat their children as a way to keep them from being a burden, and it may offend just as many people, but Henderson, described elsewhere as a 25-year-old "out-of-work physics major," puts satire to the same serious use that Swift did. Oh, yes, it is very funny. -- Scientific American
