fsm crashes Flock of Dodos screening

I had to write you and tell you about the event we had here at my university (East Carolina University) last night. We had a screening of the new hit documentary “Flock of Dodos: The Intelligent Design / Evolution Circus” by Harvard-trained biologist-turned-filmmaker Randy Olson. Afterwards, there was a panel discussion that included Randy Olson, and faculty from biology, anthropology, geology(UNCW), and religios studies. Obviously, I felt that it was my duty to show up in full pirate regalia and hand out some propaganda.

It went really great! Our 750 seat theater was packed to the hilt. I met many fellow pastafarians, and think I converted quite a few more. When I asked an FSM based question of the panel, it was met with numerous rounds of applause and laughter. Afterwards some of the panelists, students, and faculty all went out for a beer. I countinued my evangelizing at the bar, and think I made a few more converts. I have to say that it was a great day for FSM!

I am attaching photos of my costume and me handing out brochures. Theres a photo with Randy Olson, our moderator Dr. Joe Luczkovich, and myself. Finally, I am including a photo of a random drunk girl molesting our noodly creator in a less than holy manner (I think he actually enjoyed it!)

The film was really great and hilarious. I definitely think pastafarians will enjoy it! The trailer can be viewed here: http://www.flockofdodos.com/ and you can see if there will be a screening near you. There will be screenings all over the country in the next month for Darwin Day. I would definitely reccomend everyone try and make it out to a screening, and don’t forget your pirate regalia!

Thanks Again,
Nick Jones

How to tell the difference between them, apart from lots of capitals and references to anal sex in the posts of the impersonator?

Hey, you pompous s/(.).(s)/$1r$2e/ (lets hope that works). Erm I mean DPG. You forgot some very important points ;) I feel that although your points were correct they were not suitable clear or simple either. I don’t follow biology so well. ;) ;)
    .
I do follow physics. Down to chuffing small levels.
    .
Sol, our sun, and all the other active stars are huge nuclear reactors. They primarily take the universes most abundant element (H) and turn it into He. He turns into (pick heavier element) etc. Due to the size of this reactor, extremely heavy and random elements are made in stars.
    .
When a star dies, typically, it expands as it starts eating ‘itself’, then collapses. The collapse process does two major things. It blasts out vast amounts of very random matter, and what’s left falls into itself to produce, for instance, a brown dwarf. The embers of the fire. Once the fire goes out it be a white dwarf (now strongly believed to be moon sized diamonds in some cases).
    .
NOTE: huge amounts of very random matter is thrown out. Remember, amino acids (err, help me biologists), are just a chain of matter. Okay, it’s special, but it is matter. Lots of stars are kicking out lots of matters. Black holes ‘burp’ matter/energy too, so far assumed once in a life, but very little is known of them. After all, you can’t see them.
    .
Here is a possibility. Also, the clinching one.
    .
They HAVE found an asteroid fragment which houses the building blocks of life (again, over to the biologists).

    I love el’reg.
    .
On evolution, they can be outside influence from said asteroids etc. So not always a closed system (evolution is*, but the asteroids ADD to evolution).
And, they have found the missing link. No, not GWB.

Arrogant ARSEhole mode over… Okay, a bit long too, but between us hey DPG…;)
    .
    Heathen, ;) clean-o-matic, wash-o-matic, dog-o-matic/dogmatic…
    .
@JC, you ARE intelligent (keep spelling it wrong, ha!). Remember, ’so what’ you haven’t been taught some of this. You use logic, and you listen and you learn. If anyone ever says you aren’t intelligent, tell them to piss off.
We have all had a fantastic discussion thanks to you, thank you. You are also damned patient ;)

I’ve read “Genome” by Matt Ridley. He’s a great author. That should be a cool lecture.
    .
Nick. I hope that if the BHA manage to get it filmed they might make it available. It’s worth a shot. Certainly an academic institution might stand a chance. I’ll e-mail them and find out.
    .
I agree re. Matt Ridley - try Nature via Nurture (I think he’s a much better author than Dawkins to be honest!)

True DPG. In fact Thumper use of “ass” in that post draws my doubt as to the authenticity of the posters name.

Purchase the Gospel

An elaborate spoof on Intelligent Design, The Gospel of the Flying Spaghetti Monster is neither too elaborate nor too spoofy to succeed in nailing the fallacies of ID. It's even wackier than Jonathan Swift's suggestion that the Irish eat their children as a way to keep them from being a burden, and it may offend just as many people, but Henderson, described elsewhere as a 25-year-old "out-of-work physics major," puts satire to the same serious use that Swift did. Oh, yes, it is very funny. -- Scientific American
