Get a bible…and read it throughly
Stop being stupid
God is our maker
leave that as it be, because it IS the truth
and to the comment above me, that was god hoping to help.
I feel for all of you who believe this idiotic belief.
and i hope you change sometime in your life so you can make it to heaven.

Alchemist, I’m sorry. Reading hundreds of posts has left my brain a bit addled. But, no. I understand you completely, and I would be a liar if I said I had never questioned those things. From the way you write, and the way you argue, I can tell that you’re probably older than me. That said, I’m very young. Maybe in a couple of years I’ll come around to your side of the table, but for now I go to church every Sunday because it is one of the requirements of the household I live in. Again, I am very sorry if I offended you. I’ve always had trouble with mis-quoting people.

Yeah. Sorry about that. There’s so many of you I’d love to meet IRL and I’m sure that goes for a lot of people. hehehe I’d love to meet Peter, although I think CNN would have to issue a warning first :).

The internet is great for bringing like minded individuals together. I think it’s wonderful. It still doesn’t come close to the real thing though!

    BlueDreamer – no need to apologise, seriously. One thing though. Don’t go to anyones side. Make up your own mind and do what you think is right! You’ll hate yourself if you don’t. PS I’m NOT old {huff} {g}

    “Um…….3 million years? 3.5 million?”
    Near enough! :)

I don’t personally have a problem with people believing in whatever they choose. I’m probably some sort of Pagan/Budhist cross or something. (it’s not something I think about)
I mostly believe in the here and now, I guess. What I do have a huge problem with though, is the religous crowds who state that their main aim is to indoctrinate every one to their beliefs and engineer social change to suit their own ends. Especially the Evangelical cults!

Thank you, Alchemist. It’s been a while since I’ve talked with a fair-minded person. Let’s just say that I live in a house that has been Catholic for more than seven generations. And I didn’t say you were old. I just said you were oldER than I am, which may not be old at all, as I am quite young……….As far as you know. ;)

Nikky, I live in a literal “cultural melting pot.” Whenever the missionaries come around, I pretend I’m not home. Besides, I think it would be totally boring if everybody believed the same thing. Who would you have exciting, heated debates with?

Hahaha – ” I just said you were oldER than I am”
Sorry for that, bit of scary thing for me, existential dread at the thought of turning 38 this year :(.
I tend to treat people in the same way they treat me. So; no problems. You live in a Catholic house? I don’t envy you, truly. Catholicism has been the cause of so much hatred in the past. I don’t know where you live but the IRA have really helped us in England to realise the poison that religion can generate.
You say you’re quite young and denigrate your intelligence. I wonder :) You can put a sentence together. You seem pretty bright to me!
    .
Like I said. Look at the evidence and make your own mind up. It’s your mind, your life – the only one you’ll get. Don’t waste it in fear!

BlueDreamer, never, ever stop questioning and reasoning. That is the core of learning. And I am old. Old, old, old. So old that when I was a child all we had to play with was rat feces and spent ashes. *sigh* It was a grueling life, but luckily, I survived long enough to encourage you to continue your personal exploration. To be a youth is not bad, to waste youth is inexcusable.

I don’t really have religous beliefs (aside from the FSM :). But I guess I do believe in Karma (what goes around comes around) as a way of treating others. Also, if believing in the inspiring power of nature is a religion, then I’m one of those too. The more that is explained/I learn about how nature came about/how it works, the more I am inspired.

An elaborate spoof on Intelligent Design, The Gospel of the Flying Spaghetti Monster is neither too elaborate nor too spoofy to succeed in nailing the fallacies of ID. It's even wackier than Jonathan Swift's suggestion that the Irish eat their children as a way to keep them from being a burden, and it may offend just as many people, but Henderson, described elsewhere as a 25-year-old "out-of-work physics major," puts satire to the same serious use that Swift did. Oh, yes, it is very funny. -- Scientific American
