My grandparents name (inherited down) isn’t too bad. I think it’s a kanda Polish version of “Smith or Jones”. Fairly common anyway, so I’m told. (*sniff* ;)
Only a couple of letters longer than Sebastian’s. I still can’t spell it off the top of my head though!

HAVE YOU CONSIDERED CELEBRATING FESTIVUS AS AN ALTERNATIVE TO CHRISTMAS? All that is required is an aluminum pole.

Have you considered crawling back under the rock from whence you came? Having said that, may you and yours have a festive Holiday Season.

Wow. I’m STILL Polish. I used to tell my teachers that ‘Kowalski’ meant “The Cattle are dying” after they butchered it up it up during roll call.
Kowalski is an all too cool Pirate name – actually ANY polish name is a cool pirate name.
May His Sauce soften my arrogance and ego.

Arg, me polish hearties. glad all ye scurvy dogs could make it.

@L’TUAE_42 yes, sebastian’s english is a lot better than some of the english we have had. The sad thing is, most (but not all, i will not generalise) of the people who spoke english worse than seb were fundies and english was the native language. shows what state the US is in doesn’t it. *sigh* glad i’m not american. am welsh :D and can speak a little welsh woo! It may seem that I, as a Welsh believer, am outnumbered by the polish believers among us. Well, i get the welsh share of the stripper factories and beer ;)

I think Schneidarr was trying to say a quote from GW himself… “Actually you forgot Poland” in a response to John Kerry’s accusation that other than the UK and the US, nobody is really in Iraq. It was during the debates. Both my grandfathers were holocaust victims, although not from Poland.

I’ll have to check with my mum for details, but my great-grandparents changed the spelling of their surname to get out of Poland somehow, when the st*t started to hit the fan. (so to speak)

Actually, that would have been well before WWII/holocaust. Must find out more about it!

I used to work with lots of Poles, on construction sites and down coal mines, all jolly fine fellows, oh….and their Polish vodka would render me speechless and if spilt on a table it would burn the varnish off! hic…..Ramen Brothers and Sisters of the Holy Sauce.

I’m under the impression, that for some of You being from Poland means, that we’re almost from Mars or Moon. We don’t also live in Siberia, anywhere else in Russia and not on the North Pole. It is not true. Poland lies between Germany and Lithuania, Belarus and Ukrainien. In the middle of Europe :)

It is sad to hear from You, that so many ancestors of You had died during the Holocaust. My family was no Jewish, but also had a lot of problems during the War. Thank God it’s history now and all we can do is to try make it never happen again.

    Kisses from Poland

Both my grandparents fought in the war (2 of course) on the Russian side, and Russia’s not in the middle of nowhere, in fact, you can find it quite easily; it’s the biggest country in Europe andAsia… Oh and I’m not a Jew

Hmm….my relatives were all over here in the US by the time WW2 came around, though I believe my mom’s mom had some cousins over in Poland and Romania who were killed (being Jews and all). Sadly I never got a chance to meet her; lots about that side of the family I don’t know.

Well, people will be human, and humans will be a lot of dumb idiots. I’m not sure how you can deny the Holocaust ever happened when there are still plenty of people alive today with the numbers on their arms…

Never mind Eurpoe or Asia, Russia’s pretty much the biggest country in the world. I think Nataly meant that Poland isn’t a really obscour(I already know I can’t spell, in English) place.
Who tries to claim that the Holocaust never happened?

I met an old Russian in a bar many years ago, he told me that he fought for the Red Army until the Germans invaded.
Then he joined the Waffen S.S. and fought with them until the Red Army gained the upper hand, whereupon he crossed the lines and enlisted in the Red Army a second time!
I have never forgotten his closing words….” The graveyards are full of dead heroes, but here am I sitting in this bar drinking good beer with you my friend, cheers.”

An elaborate spoof on Intelligent Design, The Gospel of the Flying Spaghetti Monster is neither too elaborate nor too spoofy to succeed in nailing the fallacies of ID. It's even wackier than Jonathan Swift's suggestion that the Irish eat their children as a way to keep them from being a burden, and it may offend just as many people, but Henderson, described elsewhere as a 25-year-old "out-of-work physics major," puts satire to the same serious use that Swift did. Oh, yes, it is very funny. -- Scientific American
