FSM is a horrible idea

Dear Mr. Henderson,

I have noticed that you have started this thing called Pastafarianism.  I
would like to start off the first of a long list of complaints, by simply
stating that that pun is horrible. It’s not even creative.  Way to be
original… not.  Second of all… you guys claim that Pirates are your
followers, and that nobody has ever killed anybody in the name of the FSM.
While… looking back on History I happen to find that the history of
Pirates is filled full of rape, murder, and pillaging.  This is probably the
point where you say “that’s what they want you to think” but this is also
the point where I point out that no noodly meat sac in the sky ever rewrote
history to say that Blackbeard was a cheery fellow who spread joy to others.
To think that some noodle thing in the sky rewrote history is just pure
ludacris.  Also, why is it a Spaghetti monster?  Don’t you find that a
little biased towards Italians.  I don’t appreciate your bias.  If you are
going to continue with your charade, please choose a God that represents
more people than just a minority of people in Europe.  Your idea for
intelligent design isn’t very well thought through.  I respect your idea to
mock the Kansas school board, but what I don’t respect is that you dragged
other people into this farce by stating you actually believe this nonsense.
Look at it, really look at it, and think to yourself if you really want
people to back these wildly imaginative ideas of yours.  If you think you
should… then it’s probably time you stop and consult your local therapist.
I’m not a Christian either, in fact I’m Aetheist.  My way of thinking is
that if there really was a God… why would he be so dumb as to make people
who actually believe a giant flying noodle made the earth?  In the long run,
I would appreciate it if you proclaimed this whole thing to be a farce so
that your horribly nerdy followers could get over themselves and go back to
having what little lives they had in the first place.  If you choose however
to keep up this ploy, I would have to ask that you make your God less biased
towards Pirates and Italians.

Thank You,
TheLaughingMan

The main thing that pisses me off about the F is the fact that I spent FOREVER writing it. A freind of mine did a similar speech that went into more detail about the religons, and he put on a pirate hat and eyepatch for the Pastafarian part. :)

Thats a good question, right now there is much debate about this in the States.
I think if I’m ever asked I’ll tell them that my mother taught me to never swear, and I don’t think I should go against my mothers wishes, and I’m pretty sure god wouldn’t want me to either!

There’s no need to lecture on being politically correct if you don’t know what the hell you’re talking about, Oh, and by the way- it was the CHINESE who invented pasta; Marco Polo brought it back to Italy. why is evolution a “theory?” and not a fact?

give me the short answer version. I don’t like reading the overflow of someone’s so called “intelligent intel” gathered from many bias books and authors as opposed to actual hands on scientific research.

Why then, is the concept of creator PROVEABLE through mathematics?

has anyone heard about this? please comment. remember. keep it short.

    @Cholo
A theory is a widely encompassing overall explaination, of how a number observations fit into the overall scheme of observed natural phenomena. You don’t prove a theory, but you may disprove it by produciing evidence that directly contradicts the theory. No such evidence has ever been produced over the past ~165yrs which contradicts the Theory of Evolution and much has been observed/gathered which supports it , resulting in it being consisered fact.
    .
ps If your referring to the mathematics I think you are (German magazine), best you do a little more research as to the integrety of those figures.
The Talkorigins website discusses this in detail (NB Note the plageurized site version “True Origins” set up to con creationists and unaware others)
Can’t find to specific link at present. Do your own search. But that mathematical probability has been well and truely discredited.

“why is evolution a “theory?” and not a fact?”
    -
There is also a “theory” of gravity. The strength of a theory is derived from its supporting evidence and its explanatory power. Like the theory of gravity, evolution has overwhelming supporting evidence and explanatory power.
    -
“Why then, is the concept of creator PROVEABLE through mathematics?”
    -
The short answer is that the concept of a creator cannot be proved mathematically.
    -
“I don’t like reading the overflow of someone’s so called “intelligent intel” gathered from many bias books and authors as opposed to actual hands on scientific research.”
    -
Neither do I. So, until you have some “hands on” scientific research to support your position perhaps you should stop posting.

Technicaly, most everything is just a theory. While many things have OVERWHELMING evidence, the majority of it is not actualy 100%-for-sure proven. If you think about it. Wow, i just hurt my own brain. IT BURNS!

Yes, exactly right. As Nikky was saying, science progresses by falsification. Nothing can be proven, only falsified. With every experiment that fails to falsify a theory the theory gains support. As there has not been a single study that has falsified the basic predictions of evolutionary theory it has gained overwhelming support. Thus, like the theory of gravity, its acceptance in the scientific community is essentially unanimous.

Have you looked at the BBC forum generated by the Truth is Science, Professor Andrew McIntosh ( A professor at Leeds University) publivally contesting that the second law of thermodynamics denies the possibilty of evolution? That discussion has pretty well been
done, so it’s gone on to evolution in general now. There is a “Creationist Appologist”
over there talking the same way as leucine about “horizontal evolution= microevolution”
ect. Sounds a lot like her/him or one of his/her bible school buddies.
Forum takes a while to load and is moderated, so posts don’t appear instantly.
But if you feel like getting your teeth into something, you might enjoy it. I have from time to time. :)

I am sick of listening to religious retards and their hate of Pastafarianism. Firstly I think that it makes alot more sense than the idea of God and a guy in a nappy called Jesus wandering round healing people. Secondly the idea of Jesus is laughable as no-one can come back from the dead. He was stabbed repeatedly and nailed to a cross on a hill at a time when there was no real health care and some how this ‘messiah’ returned from the grave. I dont go on christian websites and leave comments about me not believing this crap. Dont try to force your religious ideas upon us you complaining sack of crap.

And saying that we’re biased to a small European minority is like saying God is biased to Jews. And even the Jews have been known to pillage and kill others in the past.

But you don’t care. Your a wannabe-atheist. You wouldn’t be looking for religion if you were a true atheist. Now bugger off.

Actually, as with other religions, different cultures display their deity in different ways. It’s true that the Flying Spaghetti Monster is Eurocentric, specifically the province of a boot shaped country on the Mediterranean. But if you look in Southeast Asia, for example, the FSM is historically pictured as a mass of rice noodles with two Won Tons. So you can see that it’s not Eurocentric at all. It’s just that this website is produced by somebody of European descent.

WOW! this really starts looking like a full-blown religion. One dumm comment triggering such a massive militant response. You really DO care, guys, don’t you?

Ok, I might be doing the same, if I was American. That Kansas Board phenomenon is a shame, and it clearly indicates that the education level in the USA is miserably low. I wouldn’t blame it on Bush’s engagement in Iraq, though. The Board members have been subjected to education long before anybody in America could spell ‘Irak’ properly.

Back to the main topic, though. I am a non-believer, but I can contribute:

sprite admits: “fsm approach to intelligent design is not very well thought through.”
It doesn’t have to. It’s not a philosophy, it’s a religion, a Revelation. Whatever the Prophet says, is TRVTH. And you are lucky enough to have him available at your fingertips, you can ask questions, and get TRUE answers. Beware of thinking, though, and eliminate false followers, pretending Belief. They just give you all a bad name, make you look like a bunch of sceptics. Repent, sprite.

To all of you: with all respect due, haven’t it occurred to you, that the Prophet might be withhelding part of the Revelation? I bet he has a reason to do it, but I think that the cult is already mature enough to face the unpleasant truth as well. Like there is day and night, light and darkness, virtue and sin, ice-cream and espresso, there must be FSM and… ??? There must be a reason for Noodles manifesting as late as 2000 years ago (if I remember well), and then in one place only, and there must be a potent Power behind all those evil attacks on the Truth. Salt-free Organic Salad? Diet Coke in plastic bottle? I don’t know, but surely starch-rich FSM is not fuly responsible for existence of such demons as Aspartame.

And there must be Something causing my browser to hang for 10 seconds every time I try to scroll the page. Like… couldn’t you try and make it a bit more orthodox? Imagine a pot full of one loooong noodle. It’s unmanageable. I hope the Prophet can hear me.

An elaborate spoof on Intelligent Design, The Gospel of the Flying Spaghetti Monster is neither too elaborate nor too spoofy to succeed in nailing the fallacies of ID. It's even wackier than Jonathan Swift's suggestion that the Irish eat their children as a way to keep them from being a burden, and it may offend just as many people, but Henderson, described elsewhere as a 25-year-old "out-of-work physics major," puts satire to the same serious use that Swift did.
