Basic Straw-man Fallacy… They put up this stupid straw-man that nobody in their right mind would believe in(Pastafarian Religon) and then falliciously equate it to a real belief(Intelligent Design) that is supported by many scientists, in an attempt to refute that belief.

Ha HA! I have the 700th post!
To all - I just want to say that I’m glad to be back at my little, safe computer and the websites it allows me to access. I just returned from a weekend at home visiting family and friends. I won’t go into the sordid details, but it involved (among other disturbing things) two very young-looking “elders” from the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, aging anal-retentive parents, documented moose sightings, and watching one of my dearest friends wince in fresh pain from the ineptitude and extreme self-centeredness of her ex-husband and her current husband. We laughed and laughed at the absurdity of it all in retaliation. Thank goodness these major holidays don’t happen very often, or I’d lose it completely. Please know that in a very real way this Pastafarian community helps me cope and gives me a sense of belonging and purpose. Isn’t that what a religion is supposed to help us provide for ourselves? Thank you. I feel much better. Now I can go deal with my 16 year-old daughter who is having a meltdown because she has to write a paper about the similarities between Mccarthyism and the Salem witch trials. Cover me, I’m going in.
@Wench Nikkiee
I am not holding my breath. I doubt that Mr. Michael Martin will ever reply to my post. He has made a lot of outlandish claims and he needs to back them up with some evidence if he is to be believed.

@moochie
I think we are on the same wavelength.

@Jon888
Totally agree with you. Applying Occam’s razor means that we should accept the most parsimonious explanation for the available evidence. Even though the magical being requires fewer assumptions there is no evidence that such a being exists. Conversely, there is strong evidence that evolution occurs and thus evolution is the most parsimonious explanation for the observed patterns in nature. The simplest explanation for the screen saver would be that it just spontaneously came into being without any intervention. Then we don’t even need to make the assumption that there is or was a magical being. However, that explanation is not parsimonious because to make it we have to ignore all of the evidence that its existence was caused by something.
The YECs are obviously more retarded than the IDiots. While not a staple part of my normal diet, but I must stock up on packet finger food and popcorn in anticipation of the showdown between the two. That would keep us stocked up with humorous anecdotes for months/years to come.

-SaucyWench, welcome back, and be sure’n tell your 16 year-old daughter another similaritie is that Salem burned a lot of witches to get rid of them and Paul Mccarthy will have to burn a lot of money on lawers to get rid of his.

@ Penne, music to my ears!
OK, my show was a rerun so I added another chapter,enjoy.
@Wench Nikkiee:
you forget, ID is and was never anything more than a sham philosophy. the people behind ID are christians (and essentially creationists) who are not going to argue with the Young Earth creationists because they know that fundamentally they’re pushing the same garbage. as fun as it would be to turn them upon one another, it’s not going to happen. ID is nothing more than a mildly politically acceptable stepping stone to getting YEC into schools.

Actually, the IDeists of the DI abide by most of evolutionary theory, including the 4.6 billion year old earth. It is the concept of macroevolution they have the biggest problem with because they say it would disprove the existence of their god if it were true. Of course we understand that evolution makes no such claim about origins. The YECs don’t want to be assocciated with IDeism in any shape or form because it usurps their young earth claim. I agree with Nikkiee, it would be quite a show.
Hi Mad John, H.morans. I was going on the derogatory language dr. martins used towards the IDiots in some of his posts. It sounded like the YECs are taking them on.
RAmen
would be nice if it were to happen, i’ll agree with you on that.
BTW Do the YECs propose 10,000 or 6,0000 year old earth. I keep seeing both these figures in different places?
Age of the earth depends on which YEC you talk to. They can’t seem to agree on that.
Some follow the calculations of Bishop Usher that the earth began on October 23, 4004 B.C. at around 9 AM. I kid you not. Others use the old Jewish callender which stands at around 7204 years, but don’t quote me on that. But they all rely on biblical texts.
I am so going to take up their “hybridization” and gene simularity hypotheses in the near future. I’ve just started a break and this last week has been hell. Especially watching the dokta post all that crap and being too busy to respond. In the end though I was glad to watch him post all the YECs crap. The YECs hybridization premises seem to be their central argument against gene simularity being a result of evolution. ( does make it clearer why leucine started going on about hybridization…in molecular biology that term is used in reguard to probing DNA sequences) Still haven’t read it all properly and it is a bit difficult to get my head around exactly what they are trying to say. Their premises appear to be so far outside of all the scientific research and findings, reguarding Hox genes and other conserved sequences that make up part of some genes, thus far reported and accepted. Somehow they don’t seem to be aware that it has been accepted for sometime now, by the mainstream science, that the gene is the unit upon which natural selection pressures act. Mind you I have studied Botany, an area where hybrydization is common, so I am am sure I can point out their falllacies.
Then again, maybe I’d just be happy if they go along spouting their hybridization ideas and showing themselves for the tunnel visioned, ignorant idiots they truely are. Just like many of the rest of those conspiring scientists!

“calculations of Bishop Usher that the earth began on October 23, 4004 B.C. at around 9 AM.”
I’ll definately have to look up on that, it sounds interesting as well as hilarious.
I’m glad you are up to taking that on. It’s way out of my realm of expertise. I’m mostly a field guy and don’t have the time to delve into those specifics. My field season is essentially over for the year but I’ve got a load of reports to finish. And I won’t get paid until the reports have been submitted.

What are you doing in particular right now?
-Wench Nikkiee,it wouldn’t matter even if you did point it all out to them step by step,they,like Dr.Demento up there ,are so brain washed and sure that everyone else is wrong that they would never belive you.They would simply write it all off and spew the same nonsenseical rubbish at you again and again,they can’t help it,it’s all they know,they brains have been so worped by the constant bible boombardment that they simple can’t process anything eles-it dose not compute:>
