Basic Straw-man Fallacy… They put up this stupid straw-man that nobody in their right mind would believe in(Pastafarian Religon) and then falliciously equate it to a real belief(Intelligent Design) that is supported by many scientists, in an attempt to refute that belief.

Anna. You’re not a skeptic are you? It’s wrong to think. Good to meet ya
@Dr MMartins, Phd, MMD, FFh, GHD, RN, LLC,
I guess debating where you can’t win is a bit demoralizing, eh? Almost like not being able to find your way around your cancerous cell studies? Hard not to be a god. If you were good you would have been able to make those experiments work and maybe have something published. But, no. Nothing. All of your studies seem to have been for naught. Nothing established new, nothing published. Nothing. Did this lead to your breakdown? With your immeasurably high self-esteem, how did not being able to fit the pieces together feel? I bet it didn’t feel good. I bet you started looking for other explanations — looking for solutions that eluded you. Suddenly, it appeared. A face in a cheese sandwich! It was Jesus in all His glory. Yes, now everything fit, everything was okay. And, your impotency was ended! All glory to God!
Hey you guys…..
Don’t be knock’n the Doc!
I emailed him about a job, and he hooked me up!
I don’t have to pick grapes anymore.
Now I’m a door to door bible salesman! I wear clean clothes and everything!
Straight commission, I have the potential of up to $175.00 per week!
WOO HOO!!!
Thank you Jesus! Thank you Doc!
@Dr. Martin,
You bring up very un-Christian feelings in me. And, yes, I’ve done enough research to be satisfied that I’m not a Christian. I’m good, thanks. In fact, you just put the final nail in my Christianity coffin, baby! Good work. I’m sure Jesus is proud.
Doc. You haven’t responded to e-mail post. Why?
-@Penne - damn, damn, damn. He’s winning isn’t he?-No,not unless you count us being blown away by hurrican force hot-air.-A christian in three weeks?I think not,I was a christian for twenty years and now I know better ,maybe someday you will too.And your not the only one who’s read the bible and read about the life of Christ,in fact, that’s why I’m no longer a “Christian”. I think that Christ was a good man with great ideas, but do I think he was the son of god? Well, I feel pretty sure only Mary knows for certian but I’ll ask BLR next time she’s on and see if she can shed some light. My problem with you so called belivers is that you say your Christ’s followers but you do not often practice what you preach.Christ didn’t want people to hate each other but christians have a long disgusting histroy of hatered and intolerance towards their fellow man,Christ did not belive everything he was told by his religious leaders and did not go along with what was accepted,he thought for himself and encouraged others to do the same, and to rise up against what they thought was wrong. He knew that inorder for mankind to survive and thrive we had to move forward and change with the woorld around us. Just because you have an education and apperantly think you are VERY smart, doesn’t mean that something that doesn’t add up for you won’t add up for someone down the road . Thanks to people who used their brains and didn’t quit and say”GOD DID IT!” when things didn’t add up,we have come along way and changed and grown with the world around us and yes,for the better! In the US right now it is people like yourself who refuse to open your eyes and see the world’s problems for what they are, saying things like’globle warming doesn’t exist, or it’s not really a problem and God will take care of us if we belive in him.’-bull,that’s what that is . Jesus would knock your stall over buddy, we made this mess and we can clean it up, if we try. It’s time we stopped looking to god for answers and magic and got off our asses and sorted it all out for ourselves. I sincerly hope for your sake you go back to work and take another look at that problem of yours, and if it still doesn’t add up try looking at it another way.Wouldn’t it be much better to overcome it then just write it off as one of god’s mysteries?
You can email the Doc yourself at, mmartinyale@yahoo.com Perhaps he overlooked your post?
He’s a busy Doc you must realize.
BTW, wanna buy a Bible?
Dear Dr. Quack- I mean, Dr. Mike,
.
I too have studied all options. I opened my mind to all ideas. In fact, I don’t take just one point of view. I take out what ever fills in the blanks best. For example:
.
:THE BEGINNING:
1.)The big bang was the transfer of energy and matter from one 2D ‘brane’ to our own ‘Brane’ via a brane-collision. (string theory)
2.)We live in a universe that is just a single pathway of events, each event having an infinite number of outcomes, and every outcome has a universe (Many worlds interpretation)
3.)The origin of all ‘branes’, and thus, matter and energy? I’ll settle for creation by an omnipotent being, like FSM, or Q (’cause he’s cooler than God)
4.) Earth was created by the compression of dust and gas in a disk that formed around the sun, that later became the solar system (General Earth Origins)
5.) The moon was made by a collision between proto-Earth, and a mars-sized planetesimal. (Theia Theory)
.
:CREATION OF LIFE:
1.) Life was created when pre-organic compounds were jolted by lightning 4 billion years ago [This was recreated in a lab some time ago, according to my science books]
2.)These prokaryotes (sic?) absorbed one another, becoming organelles and such.
3.)When DNA mutated, many branches of species were created, but the strand best biologically ‘equipped’ survived.
4.)These branches eventually led to larger species, reptiles, etc
5.) The best evidence for this are proto-humans, only those best ‘equipped’ survived their environment (humans can quickly adapt to new climates)
6)DNA is prime evidence for evolution. It has shown it can replicate, mutate, store data that makes us alive, all while being just a lowly molecule (a complex one at that)
.
:CONSCIOUSNESS:
1) Our own consciousness is a soul. We could create AI, but it would not be as efficient as a human consciousness. (personal belief)
2) When we die, we are resurrected as another human. (Buddhism, others)
3) Karma. What goes around comes around.
4) Souls are interconnected. We just don’t know how.
5) You are resurrected in another ‘quantum’ or ‘parallel universe’, which can explain past lives.
.
:RELIGIONS, ETC:
1)No religion is right. All religions are wrong. Parallel universes can explain this.
2)A religion that conforms to science is a good religion (Pastafarian). A religion that attempts to influence science is not good (Christianity, esp. Fundies). Religions that avoid, or can’t be proven by science, are good. (Buddhism and Diests, I think)
3)With out the bible, what grounds would ID and YEC have? If Darwin never existed, however, someone still would have stood up and said, “Hey, maybe we EVOLVED from something?”
4)Could there be omnipotent beings (like Q, a species that gained omnipotence through scientific advancement) in the universe that have no bearing on our existence?
5)Evolution may not explain every little thing currently, but if we gain the scientific capabilities, we will find evidence for those blanks.
.
OK, herr Doktor, some questions:
1)Where would you be if Jesus, a real man, but one with questionable origins, never existed? Who would your savior be?
2)If the bible is a series of stories made to provide theological points, than what real basis does it have as truth? And don’t respond to this question like, “But it isn’t, it’s fact” as that response totally blows the purpose
3) What if god is really Q from star trek?
4) Wasn’t Jesus Jewish, but his followers were Christian?
5) Why do you believe in that Young earth Claptrap?
6) Doesn’t Q have as much of a chance of existing as God?
7) Why did God create the Dinosaurs?
8) What if God is laughing at your futileness of trying to ’show us the light’ when we prefer our pasta filled darkness?
9) Could god create a rock so heavy, that He couldn’t lift it?
10) Would this make me more open minded than you?
.
END
.
PS: Why aren’t dinosaurs mentioned in the bible? Oh, wait! They weren’t discovered yet! Silly me!
Thanks Swabbies. He puts Yale in his e-mail? Fuck - that is sad
Hey Penne. Here’s a good one. I signed J’s letter and put my name on there as a contact.
.
If you ever want to chat outside of the church, and this goes for all, I’ll be there. I think that is what makes us different - people who give a damn about people.

Bravo, Alchemist! What Dr. Martin fails to understand is that all his credentials mean nothing to me. I have credentials, too. Mine are not as impressive as others’, but they allow me to earn a pretty good living until I become independently wealthy, or the Rapture happens, or whichever comes first. What does matter to me is that what I believe is irrelevant to all the Pastafarians out there so far. Nobody has asked, and that’s a good thing because I don’t have a good answer. I think Pastafarians understand that I am ok being where I am at, even if it is poorly defined. I like being understood and listened to instead of told what to believe as if I don’t exist as an individual. I assume that I’m not alone in most of these sentiments. RAmen
@ SaucyWench, Bravo to you too!
I don’t have many credentials myself. Heck, I’m just a lowly grape picker LOL!
What I do have though is a lot common sense, like you. And all the book learnin’ in the world can’t top that! Which, I think, like you, is the reason I’m here. All hail the Noodly one!
And,
RAmen!
SaucyWench - I promise to always listen to what you have to say.
.
I might argue with you in the future but I hope it will be friend to friend.
.
There are far too few people in this world who give a shit about others. I hope I do, but sometimes I wonder.
.
Saucy. I asked J to never tell this. I had a massive breakdown a couple of years ago and am still trying to get over it. People like you restore my faith in humanity.
.
You are never alone.

-TRIX,good post,I have long agreed with many of thoes ideas(as they make sense) but I don’t belive that all religions are wrong.I think most all of them started out very right and may still have good lessons to teach, but they have for the most part lost their way because of people like Phyco doc^up there who just take religion and themselves way too seriously.
night folks - it’s 0415 here and I’m buggered - Anne, I don’t think even iv caffeine would help me now! Enjoy
Whoops! I meant, “No religion is right, No religion is wrong.” sorry
Credentials….hah……big whoop, if you ask me. Does a high school diploma count for anything?? (Assuming that I don’t flunk my senior year or anything, I’m pretty sure I’ll at least end up with THAT.)
-
The whole ‘3-week garuntee’ thing does sound tempting…but I’m gonna have to pass. See, I’ve done exactly what you said, doc….asked the questons and did the exploring. Funny how that led me to a different answer then you, huh? Stop assuming you know everything. You’ll find out when you croak whether or not you were right. (And if you ARE right, then I will be extremly unhappy with the Big Man upstairs.)
-
“What if god is really Q from star trek?”–You have no idea how happy that would make me. Q kicks ass.
Concerning, Herr Doktor Mikey, Tommy Dewar said it best. “The less a man has to say the more words he uses in saying it.”
I think he’s practicing here. I’m certainly not inclined to help him out with his “debate” or “argument”. In fact he seems completely ignorant of what those words mean since they usually imply two way communication.
I’d prefer for him to continue going around spouting his scientific god references to everyone, all the while believing he has it all sewn up. Give them enough rope!

I am so getting a t-shirt with “I am a smug assclown member of the evolutionary science conspiracy”
Got more work on tonight.
Catch you guys later.
