sadly pathetic

I found this hate-comment left in response to the fsm protest in london post:

Not a religious message, but just a comment on how truly, astoundingly, sadly pathetic you are. If you’ve got a problem with creationism, then why not attack it in a vaguely sensible way, with intellectual criticism? All you’re doing is offending people, and providing money for a guy who can’t be bothered getting off his arse to get a job, so comes up with this instead. Just pathetic.

“and providing money for a guy who can’t be bothered getting off his arse to get a job”

Welcome to the modern world. It’s probably the dream of every man alive to be able to middle finger his boss and go home and not be bothered to get off one’s arse to get a job.

It’s called: “what’s the point, I’m making someone else richer, kill me now”

But hey, if you think it’s pathetic, keep your 9 to 5 and don’t forget to go to church on Sunday. Also please make sure you children know that
    1) jesus is for real.
    2) santa is not real, that’s just a superstition.
But don’t mention both in the same sentence, it could trigger frowning and worse: thinking.

“What I am saying is that his background in chemistry in no way equips him to make sound desicions about religion, and he thinks it does.”
I’d agree if we were talking Theology - an academic subject, and one very different to chemistry. But were not; were talking religion, a concept which by definition is open to all.
As a masters/honours degree graduate, and a prospective PhD, you can be pretty certain that he’s proficient at logical and rational thought. If that doesn’t make him qualified to have an opinion, or make ’sound decisions’ on religion when billions of morons apparently are then I don’t know what would!

    OMFSM.
    Who is this faghetti guy?
and by the way, do you have a PHD in Chemistry? hmm?
I am a firm believer in “shut up if you don’t know”‘ theory. Have you heard of it? Faghetti..let me break it down…if you don’t have a phd in chemistry, don’t knock those that do.
stop bringing down my FSM beer volcano buzz!
    really…

Also, i am not pathetic… I don’t get fleeced for hundreds of thousands of dollars to build a huge worship centre, i spend my money on helping people. Bob does have a job..of sorts…he is our prophet. didn’t you get the memo?
And further more, I am not committing heinous acts in the name of my beliefs, there is no war currently being fought on his noodly behalf, except the carb no carb debate, but no one has died over it…
People who come here for the right reasons are not pathetic, they are enlightened and not satisfied with the beliefs of the masses.
    pathetic? I think not.
My hat is off to you Bob…thank you for your work.

We are attacking ID with intellectual critism, or haven’t you read all these posts? We’re just having a blast with it as well, and the funny stuff attracts way more people than a research sounding thing would. And how dare you insult our prophet?! His courage and creative geious has started a movement, allowing fellow pastafarians to come outof the dark after so long. Finally, Faghettini, he wasn’t using the Ph.D to imply he was an authority on this subject, but rather that he was not one of the illiterate noobs who send hate mail to this site.

Don’t you just love it when a christian has the gall to criticize anyone’s religion for making money. Christian churches exist by fleecing the flock.

We started out trying sense and reason. For some reason it didn’t work. I postulate that there is a correlation here but am too polite to state it.

“It’s not accurate to say that FSM attracts intelligent followers by its nature. Genuinely intelligent people don’t have time for the joke…”
Actually, I think it’s the truly intelligent who realize humor is one of (if not the) most important things in life. If you can’t laugh, why bother living?

  9. 29 Nowtheworldhasmeaning Oct 23rd, 2006 at 3:45 pm

Basically you have to laugh or you’d spend all your time crying!
    .
If religion is so important then why don’t you defend it is a … what was your words… vaguely sensible way. So far I have yet to hear anything that I would not have said as a 12 year old.

All these super religeons need to stop fiddling with each other before preaching about sins etc. Get a fucking grip and smell the coffee. They’re not real, they’re not coming, and theve done nothing to impress anybody in shit knows how long.

since you appear totally ignorant of sensible and intelligent argument, read books written by Victor J. Stenger. FSM is for pathetic people like you who lacks enough intelligence to comprehend Stenger, you idiot!

  12. 32 RAT Oct 23rd, 2006 at 10:48 pm

Dumpling, who is that directed at? I am pathetic (either sadly pathetic or just pathetic - not sure which).

May you be touched by His Noodley Appendage!

  13. 33 Dumpling Oct 23rd, 2006 at 10:56 pm

Sorry, RAT, it was directed at whoever wrote the essary “sadly pathetic”

  14. 34 Boarg Oct 24th, 2006 at 3:59 am

Hi, Davey. Here’s a wee attempt at a verse and chorus.

Oh praised be His Noodly Greatness,
    His divine Pastafarian Tasteness,
To warm pirate seas from lands so frigid,
Find we strippers and beer, by the hand of a midget,
Sing Arrr! Sing Arrr! Sing Arrr!

  15. 35 One Eyed Jack Oct 24th, 2006 at 4:30 am

How about we just steal (a very piratish thing to do) the Veggie Tales’ song, “Pirates Who Don’t Do Anything”. I find something very poetic about stealing a song from Veggie Tales for the FSM.

    Pathetic??
    Don’t repress my culture, man.
Seriously, I’m wounded…Hurt my God and you hurt me.
If you want intelligent criticism of your religion it is VERY easy to find. I at least expect that you apply the same standard when you criticise mine.

  17. 37 Don Lardini Oct 24th, 2006 at 6:07 am

    Faghettini.
Use the healing sauce, applied liberally to the affected area (your own meatballs) divine resolution should be swift and impart a delicious tomatoey aroma to your dealings and sexual encounters over the coming days.

“If you’ve got a problem with creationism, then why not attack it in a vaguely sensible way, with intellectual criticism?”
Yes intellectual criticism works so well with those who want to teach faith in our school. If things like mere intellectual criticism and scientific evidence worked ID would just go away like it should.

  19. 39 Scientific-Christianspouter Oct 25th, 2006 at 2:11 am

Come on, pastafarians! Play fair and pick a harder target to satirize. The Christians who choose to believe Intelligent Design have a lot more courage than you, because they force themselves to believe in something despite overwhelming evidence to the contrary. They deserve respect for the sheer act of will they put out to have faith. I think you’re secretly uncomfortable with your own religious beliefs, so you ridicule their difficult-to-hold faith because it threatens your own (easy to believe) scientific views. Pathetic - it’s like uncomfortable adolescents who make fun of their parents in an attempt to be cool. Grow up and learn to be tolerant!

  20. 40 One Eyed Jack Oct 25th, 2006 at 4:22 am

What, you think it doesn’t take courage to believe in the FSM? I am hurt and insulted that question my religion and belittle it! How dare you even question my religion! The only proper response would be to burn you at the stake as a heretic… yes, that should do nicely.

Purchase the Gospel

An elaborate spoof on Intelligent Design, The Gospel of the Flying Spaghetti Monster is neither too elaborate nor too spoofy to succeed in nailing the fallacies of ID. It's even wackier than Jonathan Swift's suggestion that the Irish eat their children as a way to keep them from being a burden, and it may offend just as many people, but Henderson, described elsewhere as a 25-year-old "out-of-work physics major," puts satire to the same serious use that Swift did. Oh, yes, it is very funny. -- Scientific American
