Translation

Published September 29th, 2006 by Bobby Henderson

The Church of the FSM has gone fully international – the website is now available in English, German, Spanish, French, Italian, Portugese, Japanese, Korean, and Chinese.

I’m still working the bugs out, but you can translate any page by clicking the appropriate flag on the top of the sidebar to your right.

    eh bobby….

The translation in Chinese is not right at all.
For example, it translated your name in the end “-bobby” as soccer..

It sounded like it was put through babelfish.
In general…the sentences can’t be read at all for they didn’t make sense….

These computer translations are completely crap and make this very serious religion a laughing stock. May the FSM descend upon you and allow to speak in tongues properly.

”May the FSM descend upon you and allow to speak in tongues properly”: now that IS cool. I hope Bobby’s gonna do something kwik about this chinese translation. Seeing how they treat even google, looks like they need serious educating. May the FSM descend upon them and … smother the recalcitrants in pasta, for example?

Well done on the new site, looks very professional Bob. Keep up the good work.
On a different note entirely I’d like to bring your attention to this film which although not directly related, still brings attention to a disturbing trend in education and religion.

    It’s called ‘Jesus Camp’

    Regarding the Spanish translation:

“Monstruo de Espagueti Volador” is more appropiate.

¡Salve el Gran Monstruo de Espagueti Volador!

Hail the Great Flying Spaguetti Monster!

  6. pastaman says:

    Lo sabia!…
Rodrigo, si vives en méxico checa el foro en reuniones.

  7. Wu says:

Just to make it count, Chinese “translation” can’t be understood at all. Starting from the headline: Church-every week-fly-weird-beast. I think it should be Feixing lamian mogui jiaotang (飞行拉面魔鬼教堂) but I’m no native speaker… Anyway, hope you fix it soon.

  8. Leon says:

拉麵 is ramen (hand stretched noodles) and spaghettiis 義大利麵 or 通心麵. 魔鬼 is devil, and not monster. (monster=怪獸). 教堂 usually refers to the physical building of the church, so instead, 教會 would be more proper.

I think it should be 飛天義大利麵怪獸, for (FSM)
or 飛天通心麵怪獸, either one would work.

so, the church of Flying spaghetti monster would be 飛天義大利麵怪獸教會
