I have actually met someone who clains to be a satanist at a party once, to be fair it was a very tame party so I will not be joining the Satanic religion any time soon.

Seriously though the guy was nice, he worked for a charity and spent a lot of time in the 3rd world helping out with the AIDs epidemic (at huge personnel risk). which he informed me was heavily linked to his religion, when I asked how he told me that they Satanism is all about being hedonistic, and helping people give him huge pleasure, he had no real other motivation for doing it and therefore followed satanism.

Your Satanist friend sounds like a bullshitter. I know those kids too. They are rebellious. They are a product of a society where life is too easy, just like the anorexics, the bulemics, and the goths. They argue that once they are free of Christianity, they can concentrate on making the world a better place. Its an excuse for their rebelliousness, which is empty and unnecessary. Anyone who says that Satanism is their motivation for doing good deeds is full of shit. They are either lying to themselves, or lying to you.
Christianity isn’t some yoke or obstacle that holds people back. And Christian charitable organizations, for the most part, are not there to force feed Christianity to people in the developing world.
