September 19th is International Talk Like a Pirate Day.
This is important for a number of reasons, but for Pastafarians it provides a convenient source of pirate-behavior data to substantiate the Pirates Vs. Temperature correlation which serves as a keystone of our religion. We expect to see a considerable drop in temperature worldwide on Tuesday the 19th, due to the widespread pirate activity taking place.
I will be collecting quantitative temperature data via the interwebs, but if you have anecdotal (or specious) evidence of unseasonably cold weather, please describe it for us as a comment to this post.
Also, if you’ve done anything amazingly piratey today, please leave a comment about it. We all need to do our part to reverse Global Warming.
You can expect a thorough report of my findings on Wednesday or Thursday.

YARRR, it be a cold day in hell, mateys! By “Hell” I mean the lubberous land of Phoenix Arizona, where temperatures are takin’ a turn for the unseasonably cool and ye old national weather service is predicting an “early autumn and winter” for us.
Yarrr harrr!

Ahoy Mateys!
I am a telecomm technician who, for reasons that don’t need exploring at this juncture, has a homemade sock monkey who rides shotgun with me. His name is Corky, and as we’re driving around, we’re both wearing bandanas. I’ve also changed my company voicemail to begin with a “YARRRRR!” and wish everyone a happy Int’l Talk Like a Pirate Day. I could very possibly get fired for this, but if anyone tries to screw me, I’m gonna sue for religious discrimination.

By merely uttering “Avast ye scurvy dog” in one e-mail today, I have brought down the temperature in Tampa from a steamy 90 to a brisk…88. Can there be any more convincing evidence that More Pirates = Lower Temperatures? And that we are all touched by His Noodly Appendage?!?

Arrr! I be bringin’ some anecdotal evidence for the relation between pirates an’ global temperature. This mornin’ dawned warm an’ humid here in Virginia, but since me mateys ‘n’ me we’ve been talkin’ like pirates this afternoon, methinks I detect a bit o’ chill in the air at the office. So like many Christians o’ my acquaintance, I cannot offer a shred o’ proof, but I don’t be needin’ any – I’ve had me own personal experience o’ pirate-induced coolin’. Avast, me hearties! An’ cursed be the scurvy knave who says any diferent!

Yar! I spread news of the holiday over the internet and have been telling people at school all day. I even cursed the scurvy landlubbers that cut me off on the freeway in pirate talk. Here in Detroit, we have a fair sailin’ wind and temperatures that make me shiver my timbers.
Incidentally, my school’s logo is a sail.

I hate to rain on your parade but it was 83 degrees today. Unusually high for this season, though, I must add in, it was 87 degrees yesterday so there was a noticeable drop. However, our average temperature for this time is around 70 degrees. Scientists are telling us this is due to a shift in the winds so as the wind now comes from the eastern deserts instead of from the ocean to the west (What they’re calling a “Santa Anaâ€). I postulate that San Diego is just not involved enough in talk like a pirate day or we would be seeing drastically lower temperatures. I urge you all to please talk like a pirate. You are making Him angry and he is punishing San Diego with high temperatures. I sincerely apologize for not talking like a pirate myself in this message, but I feel my point will be more accepted by the general public if I refrain from talking like a pirate. Argg, fight global warming. Pillage and plunder!

Avast, me hearties, here in the capital of the New World- Washington, DC- I fear it is not as cold as it might be. With the all scurvy pirates in the Capitol, the heat they generate has raised the temperature. May his noodly appendage touch their blackdog hearts on this holiest of days. Raise a bottle of rum to the FSM.

I share with ye, my pirate bretherin of the FSM, a bit of a conversation I had with me First Mate.
me: When yer mascot be a goat, matey, a single mast be right an’ proper says I. Much more ‘d be too much fer the bleatin’ bugger.
Matey: L I be most grateful at the moment that I be finished with me last bit o’ grog not less than a minute ago. Else I’d be wasting the tea that I brewed. (It must have slipped me mind to mention that me mum gave me a teapot to use while I’m away from me hearth and home)
Me: Tis no small task, t’ fire the nasal cannons o’ the likes of you. Har har.

Today in Scottsdale Arizona the typical high is 98 degrees however for some ‘unexplained’ reason today the high is only 92. (src. weather.com)
This to me, a pastafarian, is undeniable proof that the increased pirate activity on this fine day are helping reduce global warming.
Cheers,
Ben

Today I was walking around when I felt a sudden chill. I never have felt cold in this hellaciously (spelling is sort of a hit or miss thing for me) hot city known as atlanta. Then I noticed a girl walking by in pirate attire. To be honest, given her hotness, the fact that she was a pirate is the only possible explanation of how cold it felt around her.

Hello from Connecticut! It does feel pretty cool here right now, but balmy (great word, right???). I wanted to report some pirate-activity here today. At my daughter’s elementary school they celebrated “Talk Like a Pirate Day” by having the kids talk like pirates and make pirate swords and eye patches. It was very cute and my 5-year old has been saying “Argh” all evening! :-) On a side note, I am a high school biology teacher and I would NEVER work in a school that even hinted at having me teach anything about ID. I am more Darwinism than FSMism but hey, this is my first day at the site so maybe there’s hope for me yet! — Kim

Last night, here in southern Florida (on the south shore of Lake Ocheechobee) it dropped down to 72f last night. When I got up this mornig, it was so cold that I had to stick a finge up my ass and yell, “Snow Snake” just to get a piss hard on…felt like a true Pirate….

Here in southern Onatrio, it is usually in the mid to low 20’s (celsius) in september, however, it has been unseasonably cold today, with a high of 17, and tomroow is supposed to be 13. It has been discussed that it may be from all the new pastafarians in my area, through spreading the word at my school

Bobby, I just thought I’d alert you–
I just had the most horrid experience on this most holy of days.
My son just came in from school in Salem, Oregon, and he
said a whole troop of pirates marched into his Spanish class,
dressed in piratey garb and “yarrrrrrghing” all over the place,
then began to discuss the “history” of Int’l Talk Like a Pirate
Day, saying it originatated in Haiti! of all places, never once
mentioned its relationship to global warming, and never even
MENTIONING the FSM! I’m in such a state of shock that not
one “Yarrrrrrgh!” can I utter!
Were you aware of this dangerous heresy? I have now
schooled him in the correct doctrine, but as a fellow
Pastafarian, can I sue the school for so defaming our
great religion? Shit, that’s almost like Intelligent Design–
Teach our kids falsely about FSMism without even saying
a word about Noodley Appendages, global warming, or beer
volcanos.
And HAITI? In your own state, dude. You oughta do
something about this before it gets outta hand.

Ahoy Mateys! I went to school today wearing pirate clothes and the British Navy of religion, or the school, took me hat and bandana. I talked to the principal and she is going to tell the school board to check out the website and see if its a real religion. Oi, If it is, me and a few others will be able to wear out pirate clothing, every friday, and significantly, decrease the tempatures here in Kansas City Matey ;D

Ahoy there!
It’s 68 F in NORTH CAROLINA with a low of 55 expected!
Tonight we’re watchin’ Cap’n Sparrow, and delightin’ in it.
I’ll share the recipe for the grog we be swillin;
2 c apple cider
1 whole allspice
5 grinds nutmeg
cinnamon stick
Boil it up, shut it off. Stir it with a wooden paddle. Pour in it a mug with a good helpin’ of Cap’n Morgans or other SPICED Rum!
Yo ho ho, it’s Captain Grog!
(and I’m usin’ a Jack Skellington mug in honor of his appearance as a pirate in James and the Giant Peach)
I am also MOST delighted to report that our FSM car stick-ons arrived today! I ordered them just one business day ago!! USPS has apparently been touched by his noodly appendage for the occasion!
