Talk like a pirate day

September 19th is International Talk Like a Pirate Day.

This is important for a number of reasons, but for Pastafarians it provides a convenient source of pirate-behavior data to substantiate the Pirates Vs. Temperature correlation which serves as a keystone of our religion. We expect to see a considerable drop in temperature worldwide on Tuesday the 19th, due to the widespread pirate activity taking place.

I will be collecting quantitative temperature data via the interwebs, but if you have anecdotal (or specious) evidence of unseasonably cold weather, please describe it for us as a comment to this post.

Also, if you’ve done anything amazingly piratey today, please leave a comment about it. We all need to do our part to reverse Global Warming.

You can expect a thorough report of my findings on Wednesday or Thursday.

As a Flying Spaghetti Monsterist, I felt it was my duty to spread the piratey message, especially on this most sacred of days. We’ve formed a small raiding party in school to re-enact the traditions of our forefathers. Also, pillaging is fun.

Note: Yaarage has reached unprecedented proportions, as have pirate songs.

    Yaar!

I’ll post a roster of people who I’ve introduced the Pirate-Global Warming theory too. My friend Dom (Pirate Lazybones)has come up with a particularly logical solution:

If we bring back pirates, they’ll need pirate ships. As pirate ships make less pollution than other modern forms of travel, as more people become pirates there will be less pollution, and the rate of increase of global warming will decrease! It’s pirate-tastic!

    Yours in pasta,
    Cap’n Gorilocks and Pirate Lazybones.

I be Harry, from Australia matey. We be having cold weather today, unlike yesterday which be 30 degrees celsius, today be only 21 degrees celcius and rain. Thank ye pirates for the cold weather me says. We and me maties went to school in pirate clothes today to show the true piratey spirit. It be a pity that we be going to a Christian school, and we be getting detentions for it.

This be me favourite day of the year it be! People that no not of FSMism celebrate our religion with us whilst noing it not, they do! I shall spend the day at work answering the phone with a good “AVAST YE MATEY! DECLARE YERSELF OR I’LL RUN YA THROU WITH ME PAPERMATEY! TIM THE CABIN BOY BE A SPEAKIN! HOW CAN I PILAGE YE?!”

I wanna know how long I can go before someone actually responds in a piarate voice!

    BTW:
    1. Fifteen men on a dead man’s chest
Yo ho ho and a bottle of rum
Drink and the devil had done for the rest
Yo ho ho and a bottle of rum.
The mate was fixed by the bosun’s pike
The bosun brained with a marlinspike
And cookey’s throat was marked belike
    It had been gripped by fingers ten;
And there they lay, all good dead men
Like break o’day in a boozing ken
Yo ho ho and a bottle of rum.

    2. Fifteen men of the whole ship’s list
Yo ho ho and a bottle of rum!
Dead and be damned and the rest gone whist!
Yo ho ho and a bottle of rum!
The skipper lay with his nob in gore
Where the scullion’s axe his cheek had shore
And the scullion he was stabbed times four
And there they lay, and the soggy skies
    Dripped down in up-staring eyes
In murk sunset and foul sunrise
Yo ho ho and a bottle of rum.

    3. Fifteen men of ‘em stiff and stark
Yo ho ho and a bottle of rum!
Ten of the crew had the murder mark!
Yo ho ho and a bottle of rum!
Twas a cutlass swipe or an ounce of lead
Or a yawing hole in a battered head
And the scuppers’ glut with a rotting red
And there they lay, aye, damn my eyes
    Looking up at paradise
    All souls bound just contrawise
Yo ho ho and a bottle of rum.

    4. Fifteen men of ‘em good and true
Yo ho ho and a bottle of rum!
Ev’ry man jack could ha’ sailed with Old Pew,
Yo ho ho and a bottle of rum!
There was chest on chest of Spanish gold
With a ton of plate in the middle hold
And the cabins riot of stuff untold,
And they lay there that took the plum
With sightless glare and their lips struck dumb
While we shared all by the rule of thumb,
Yo ho ho and a bottle of rum!

    5. More was seen through a sternlight screen
Yo ho ho and a bottle of rum
Chartings undoubt where a woman had been
Yo ho ho and a bottle of rum.
‘Twas a flimsy shift on a bunker cot
With a dirk slit sheer through the bosom spot
And the lace stiff dry in a purplish blot
Oh was she wench or some shudderin’ maid
That dared the knife and took the blade
By God! she had stuff for a plucky jade
Yo ho ho and a bottle of rum.

    6. Fifteen men on a dead man’s chest
Yo ho ho and a bottle of rum
Drink and the devil had done for the rest
Yo ho ho and a bottle of rum.
We wrapped ‘em all in a mains’l tight
With twice ten turns of a hawser’s bight
And we heaved ‘em over and out of sight,
    With a Yo-Heave-Ho! and a fare-you-well
And a sudden plunge in the sullen swell
Ten fathoms deep on the road to hell,
Yo ho ho and a bottle of rum!

Living in Texas the average temperature is about 87 degrees (F). While waking up this morning dressing in my usual pirate atire and deciding which eye I should wear my eye patch on, I noticed an unusal drop in temprature outside. Cheaking my gage to note if any piarte movement is about, to my delight It read 66. Thank you to all Pastafarians who care about the Pirate civilization, and global warming.

It is my duty to inform all of you participating in this piratey nonsense of the facts. Today in Arkansas where I live, it was 57 degrees F. A few days ago, it was in the upper 80’s. If you pirates don’t stop carrying on and pillaging and plundering, you might just start another Ice Age. You pirates won’t have anywhere to sail if the oceans freeze up. I implore you, stop the pirattitude before it gets too cold.

An elaborate spoof on Intelligent Design, The Gospel of the Flying Spaghetti Monster is neither too elaborate nor too spoofy to succeed in nailing the fallacies of ID. It's even wackier than Jonathan Swift's suggestion that the Irish eat their children as a way to keep them from being a burden, and it may offend just as many people, but Henderson, described elsewhere as a 25-year-old "out-of-work physics major," puts satire to the same serious use that Swift did. Oh, yes, it is very funny. -- Scientific American
