I wouldn’t want to be you when you stand before God

I wouldn’t want to be you when you stand before God.

If you are right, and evolution is the only answer, then we will all just be dirt-food when we die. But if you are wrong, and the intelligent design people are right and there is a God, then you’ll be in a tough spot.

By the way, did you ever read what the Kansas School Board had proposed? It doesn’t sound like it from your letter.

““Boys and girls,” Ham said. If a teacher so much as mentions evolution, or the Big Bang, or an era when dinosaurs ruled the Earth, “you put your hand up and you say, ‘Excuse me, were you there?’ Can you remember that?” The children roared their assent. “Sometimes people will answer, ‘No, but you weren’t there either,’ ” Ham told them. “Then you say, ‘No, I wasn’t, but I know someone who was, and I have his book about the history of the world.’ ” He waved his Bible in the air. “Who’s the only one who’s always been there?” Ham asked. “God!” the boys and girls shouted. “Who’s the only one who knows everything?” “God!” “So who should you always trust, God or the scientists?” The children answered with a thundering: “God!””–………am I the only one getting the image of a Hitler Youth rally?

I don’t recall reading anything abbout an FSM hell. FSM will probably just say, “Now that your dead, we can leave al that nonsense behind. Come on in and have a beer.” The new arrival would have eternity to hang out with happy new friends while kicking himself for having been such an idiot in life.

No there is a hell. It like heaven but the beer is sour and the strippers have VD. But its not that bad, after a few beer you wont notice and your already dead! Come on sour beer is better than eternal damnation.

    J,

If you’re reading Ken Ham, I trust you have been to AIG’s website. I check it weekly for a good laugh and cry. Did you see that they are building an AIG Creation Museum? The museum will promote the young Earth view. I believe they’re building it in Kentucky, just south of Cincinnati, Ohio. That’s about a five hour drive for me. When it’s finished, I’m going to have to get some friends together and go visit it, though I might have to get drunk to survive it.

i wonder how many scientists will sponsor the creation museum. probably 1% (the intelligent design losers). how many rednecks to support it, a lot. what will be the proof of creation that doesn’t attack evolution. it will probably all attack evolution. so typical of creationists

Hey, do you think it’s possible that ID AND FSM is incorrect and that evolution AND a loving god who was capable of creating a universe with natural laws to maintain it IS correct or at least possible? Don’t mix being a good Christian with supporting the fake -science of ID, THAT’S offensive!

what you refer to is theistic evolution – the notion that the evolutionary process was set in motion by god, who either guided the outcome towards humanity, or simply sat back and saw what came up.
    .
this is a perfectly valid view of the universe, it just means that a great deal of what is in the bible could in no way be considered historical fact. if you believe the bible is a book of theological metaphors and fables, that is also equally valid. but there is no scientific evidence for the existence of a god, so you are still going on faith alone in this perspective. i’m not insulting you for seeing the world this way – i’m merely outlining how your opinion appears to an atheist.

Hopefully it’s not that bad, because I may have under-tipped the odd stripper or two when I was young and foolish.

Whoa, Sk8erboy, I am staying away from your website. Sounds scary! Are there links to the Hitler Youth movement in there? I just want to see how we have progressed as a civilization in the last 60 years.

I agree with Marc and Peter. Whoo…..scarey!
But since we have complete freedom of speech on our site, as well as millions if not thousands of Pastafarians, we could always pick up the issues and have our own little debate, if we chose to. Not too hard. Thanks for the idea Sk8ter bob.

So if we (as Pastafarians) are right, good for us, if we are wrong and christianity is right- isn’t God meant to love us all- and surely he will prefer someone who thinks for himself over someone who believes for the potential rewards, and if we are both wrong we get the same fate. Pascals wager needs to think again.

Haven’t you heard, God prefers an athiest? Anyway, there not being a God doesn’t mean we are going to be worm food. For centuries people have theorized and – well, I think – terrorized people with the thoughts of this eternal soul going to hell, heck they’ve only been theorizing that we have souls. We don’t know that we have souls, and if we have souls why can’t other creatures of the planet? Because we were supposedly created in gods image? BS. If god loves all his creatures, I’m pretty darn sure he would give other creatures souls, besides us. And there is no seperate heaven, if that is the case.

Our souls could be bound to the earth or venture into the cosmos, I’d personally like to dance on Saturn’s rings. If we are souls free to wander, that’s what I plan to do. Or we could just rot in the ground if you prefer to be so absolute in your beliefs and not open your mind the slightest bit. Fine. There are so many different religions, who says yours is right? Who says its right for everyone on the whole fucking planet? Not I.

If I were to worry about God’s judgement of me when I die, it would be based on whether I’d lived a moral life based on the information available.

But, the evidence implies that you only get one life, and even if it didn’t, there’s no excuse for wasting the life you have.

An elaborate spoof on Intelligent Design, The Gospel of the Flying Spaghetti Monster is neither too elaborate nor too spoofy to succeed in nailing the fallacies of ID. It's even wackier than Jonathan Swift's suggestion that the Irish eat their children as a way to keep them from being a burden, and it may offend just as many people, but Henderson, described elsewhere as a 25-year-old "out-of-work physics major," puts satire to the same serious use that Swift did. Oh, yes, it is very funny. -- Scientific American
