I was just wanting to offer to you all a couple of books that I believe would be very helpful and insightful, because it seems that not many people taking part in this page have done any REAL research. I am truly not trying to be offensive in any way. I have a lot of compassion for people who have not really delved into the facts deep enough, and so are confused. These books are:
“Answers to Tough Questions: Skeptics ask about the Christian Faith†(By: Josh McDowell and Don Stewart)
(And/Or “Evidence That Demands a Verdict†(By Josh McDowell)
and “Who is This Jesus, Is He Risen?: Examining the Truth About Jesus†(By: D. James Kennedy, Ph.D. with Jerry Newcombe) — which can be gotten from: Coral Ridge Ministries
P.O. Box 40
Fort Lauderdale, Fl
33302
I truly hope, because I really care about each individual, that you all will really read these books…because I know it will be difficult to even pick one of them up due to lack of desire to find the real truth — and maybe even due to fear of finding the real truth (for some people). There have been prominent men who have delved into the research to the greatest extents in order to get all the facts — only to find out who Jesus really is, that he really lived, and that he really rose again — and those men who were determined to tear down the Christian faith ended up developing an intimate relationship with Jesus Christ instead.
What I am saying here, is that these facts definitely make it something to at least seriously look in to. I am not talking about a superficial glance that is guarded by many preconceived notions from the GetGo…I am talking about an actual intellectual LookSee.
In conclusion, may God’s blessing be with each and every one of you…including the misguided “Christians†whom I saw left comments on this page before..I am sure some of you really meant well, but it is not the true way of Christ.
The real important thing is to find out who Christ REALLY is, but if you want to..in the meantime.. check out answersingenesis.org.
Love to all of my brothers and sisters in Christ.

Your consideration and concern is appreciated. Science and God are not at odds, despite the best efforts of most Christians, it seems. May you be touched by His Noodly Appendage.
So do these bocks extoling the wonders of christianity explain the Spanish Inquisistion. I thought not. Until christianity gets honest about its history and maybe even apologises….well you understand.
Well…Your statements were incredibly arrogant and bigoted, but not nearly as much so as most of your religious persuassion. More importantly, you actually managed to state them with at least a superficial air of civility, which was indeed refreshing.
I am actually touched by the repondse. For once someone is not condeming, rathering offering another path. I should think more Christians should be like this.
I venture that many agonostics and atheists have read more on religion than most christians, muslims (insert your religion here). Most major religions at one time in their history prohibitted their followers from owning or reading their own religious texts. Some still do. Most prohibitted their followers from learning about other religions or the secular world. Some still do. Apparently our creator gave us the ability to think, but would prefer we not use it.
So, I will likely read some of the books you recommed. I wonder what you read that doesn’t simply reinforce what you already believe. Do you ever read books offering different religious viewpoints that aren’t written by christian authors with an agenda?
“Sometimes,” said Captain Ramen, one day, to his crew, “Facts are called ‘facts’ because they are not factual. Thus, what some may call ‘facts’ are in fact, complete bulllshit. Yes, it is true that we are Pirates, and are His Chosen People, but some people may call it a fact that we are bound to a place called ‘Hell’” To which, his crew each downed a goblet of pasta, for their bowls had been cast overboard in joyus celebration of a bounty of the Golden Pasta Plate. “But,” said Capt. Ramen, “Would these people know it as fact that their ’savior’ was himself, pastafarian?” On the plate was an inscription, that said, “On this plate, Christ ate his last spaghetti supper.” The boat was on a mission from the FSM, to find DaVinci’s studies for the Last Spaghetti Supper, and to prove to the world the Way of His Noodliness. The boat was soon lost at sea while the crew was finishing communion with Three Days of Drinking, as tradition mandated. Pastafarians, however; are wise in the Ways of Changing Anythign for the Better, and the three days were reduced to One, but feel like Three Days, as the FSM changes perception of time whenever His Chosen People could benefit.
wantnig? is that written right?
You are ALL wrong. The christian and all of you Pastafarians are wrong. The TRUE GOD is THOR, GOD OF THUNDER. Without him you will all be lost.
Sorry dudes, but that’s THE TRUTH. Why can’t you just see it? Dang.
OH MY GOODNESS! I just converted. Thank you so much for the recommendation, they’ve truly changed my perspective…
…..Nope. I was wrong. Nevermind. The only life changing books I’ve ever read were by Tom Robbins, and he’s a nut. (My fellow Pastafarians should definitely check him out, though, he’s right up your proverbial alley!)
You along with a good portion of the rest of the haters obviously don’t recognize this as a bit of a parody or rather the stating of a point, which is that no matter what you believe, critics abound.
Ok…so here is one giant flaw with YOURS…you think that all of these people are insightful to your God’s purpose, but from what I understand, we as humans aren’t supposed to know his purpose, just know him and love and worship him so that we may ascend to heaven and finally know his purpose when we have left this ‘mortal coil’, so what makes you think that these humans, however learned they may seem and however many books they have published…how can you, being a Christian, believe that these mere humans have insight to God’s will and furthermore call it ‘truth’?
What any religion, or the science behind evolution for that matter, is based off of are theories and beyond that: theoretical evidence….what these people have have written is theories based on evidence…and what amazes me is how the science in evolution is ignored when so many Christians acknowledge so many other forms of science and recognize what it has done and continues to do and they see that what science does is a true process, but many refuse to acknowledge any evidence that evolution is taking place…how does one eat a cake but refuse to acknowledge that it was made…and that a drawn-out process with specific ingredients was involved.
Sorry for the long-windedness
RAmen.
Its wonderful that you’ve been so polite. Its so much better than what’s USUALLY on here. At any rate, I’d like to make the point that I am a confirmed Catholic, but understand what this whole thing is about. To push your beliefs onto ANYONE else is wrong, which is why I have a HUGE problem with trying to convince someone else to convert. Quite frankly, its none of my business, and if I live with the conviction that all human beings are equal, and should be treated with fairness and respect, then I am living my religion.
That said, you should check out other major religions. Most of them have a concept of 3 gods in one person that I personally find fascinating, which is why i’m pretty sure all major religions are actually just one religion that split apart based on language barriers and cultural concepts. Its also another reason I believe trying to convert another person is wrong. Their beliefs are just as valid as yours.
That said, keep your religion out of the schools I pay taxes for, unless you want to put the FSM in there, which makes just as much sense. Long live pastafarians.
rAMEN.
Sorry, you lost me at “D. James Kennedy, PHD”. The man is a liar and a scoundrel: A minion of Boy-ar-Dee.
Noodlers:
With Parmesan cheese I anoint you. May the noodly apendage touch us all.
Amen.
There were come comments made earlier about titles… what’s wrong with titles? Hell, some of us Pastafarian Discordians have a list of titles that could fill up a small book…
And I truly care about you. Your patronizing tone and thou-art-an-ugly-stain upon-ones-shoe tone of voice trouble my pastafarian heart. Does it not say SHUT THE a!@@# UP! I don’t like your tone and I do not need these other texts to understand the Bible (a thumping good read even though it has various continuity and logic errors- but what can you expect from a 2000 year old carpenter). And I somehow doubt you’ve read OUR religous texts or any other for that matter.
you cant exactly call reading works of fiction research. there is absolutely nothing scientific involved in writing a book about faith and how jesus rose from the dead. there is an infinitely greater amount of evidence to support evolution than there is to support accounts of jesus’s resurrection or miracles. just because there is a really old book about it doesnt mean it’s true. if i wrote a book this week about Bob the Savior and how he made miracles and floated around the world healing people and planting money trees, it wouldnt mean that 2500 years from now my book is suddenly undisputable evidence that bob really did such things (which he obviously didn’t because only the FSM can do that). get your head out of your ass.
Pennhigh, your kind faith will save you while your false christians writhe under the watchful eyes of the Archfiends. you may not achieve Noodly Heaven, but paradise shall be yours!
I suggest you read “Illusions: The Adventures of a Reluctant Messiah” by Richard Bach. It’s the story of a biplane pilot who encounters a Messiah who has quit the job of being a Messiah. The pilot becomes a student, learning how to awaken to the Messiah within him. The basic point of the book is that we are all our own Messiahs, and that when the “throngs and masses” start to worship any one person instead of acknowledging their own IS-given abilities, things get ugly. I suppose the book might make a findamentalist Christian foam at the mouth because of its “blasphemy,” but reading the book had a profound effect on me and choices I have made in my life. The Bible, however, did nothing for me. Zip. Nada. Nyet. And, might I add, that when I went to a Pentecostal Church service in the spirit of open-minded spiritual sampling, I was freaked out. They were just bat-guano loony, and more than a bit frightening.
Actually, I don’t suggest you read “Illusions.” I think I’ll just read it again and become one with my inner Messiah again.
Men like to rise above but if they forget the Lord, they will rise and fall.
Forget the Lord? I can’t forget what I never knew in the first place. I can remember the “lord” within, however. To me, it’s the same thing.
