I was just wanting to offer to you all

Hello All!

I was just wanting to offer to you all a couple of books that I believe would be very helpful and insightful, because it seems that not many people taking part in this page have done any REAL research. I am truly not trying to be offensive in any way. I have a lot of compassion for people who have not really delved into the facts deep enough, and so are confused. These books are:

“Answers to Tough Questions: Skeptics ask about the Christian Faith” (By: Josh McDowell and Don Stewart)

(And/Or “Evidence That Demands a Verdict” (By Josh McDowell)

and “Who is This Jesus, Is He Risen?: Examining the Truth About Jesus” (By: D. James Kennedy, Ph.D. with Jerry Newcombe) — which can be gotten from: Coral Ridge Ministries
P.O. Box 40
Fort Lauderdale, Fl
33302

I truly hope, because I really care about each individual, that you all will really read these books…because I know it will be difficult to even pick one of them up due to lack of desire to find the real truth — and maybe even due to fear of finding the real truth (for some people). There have been prominent men who have delved into the research to the greatest extents in order to get all the facts — only to find out who Jesus really is, that he really lived, and that he really rose again — and those men who were determined to tear down the Christian faith ended up developing an intimate relationship with Jesus Christ instead.

What I am saying here, is that these facts definitely make it something to at least seriously look in to. I am not talking about a superficial glance that is guarded by many preconceived notions from the GetGo…I am talking about an actual intellectual LookSee.

In conclusion, may God’s blessing be with each and every one of you…including the misguided “Christians” whom I saw left comments on this page before..I am sure some of you really meant well, but it is not the true way of Christ.

The real important thing is to find out who Christ REALLY is, but if you want to..in the meantime.. check out answersingenesis.org.

Love to all of my brothers and sisters in Christ.
-Pennhigh

Have you read the Gospel yet? If you have yet to read the gospel, do not come on this site suggesting texts we should read without reading our own!

May his Noodliness have mercy on your black soul, Pennhigh.

Pennhigh… definitely give “The Origins of Consciousness in the Breakdown of the Bicameral Mind” by Julian Jaynes a try. You’ll not likely find any greater truths there than you’ve found already, but give it an actual intellectual LookSee. ;)

And a small question if I may… have you delved into the texts of any other religions? There is truth reflected in all the ways that humans relate with their god(s), and many paths to God.

A politely worded contrast to the straight hate mail, and appreciated! The other small question in my mind says, Is the Bible not enough to find out who Christ REALLY is? If one is willing to seek the truth in the Bible, why does one need the interpretations of men, be they books or websites?

I strongly suggest that you pick up a copy of the gospel of the FSM. Many prominent christians have tried to tear down the pastafarainism faith but end up developing a close relationship with the FSM instead. Unless of course, you are afraid to find out about the truth. After all, there is plenty of proof in the form of text to prove the FSM. Yes, He really existed, really created the world, and created the skeptism I sense in you, as a test for you to overcome. So, do you want to continue living in lies, or do u want to seek the truth?

I do like the lack of threats, swearing, and general homophobia. I will look into those titles if you promise to look into ‘Siddhartha’ by Herman Hesse, ‘The Alchemist’ by Paulo Coelho, and ‘The Monkey Wrench Gang’ by by Edward Abbey.

    Peace

Pennhigh, Christian is as Christian does. Your efforts would be better spend getting proclaimed Christians to behave in a decent manner. See if you can get them to adhere to the teachings of Christ and stop wishing death, pain and misery on those of other religions. See if you can get them to actually read the Bible. See if you an get them to stop tarnishing the name of Christ. One you’ve acomplished that then you can concern yourself with the rest of us.
Last note. Assuming that anyone who isn’t a declared Christian is simply ignorant of the teachings of the church is pretty damned arrogant.

A christian such as this comes about seldom in my area. I might just read the books, but keep in mind I’ve also read the bible (several additions), the mein kampf, the gospel of the flying spaghetti monster, the necronomicon, the Hitchhiker’s Guide (written by an atheist), and a wiccan book whose title escapes me at the moment. I’ve even been able to appreciate the irony of having my copy of Farenheit 451 confiscated during school. Right now I’m trying to get ahold of the koran, because I’m curious to see what all the hype is about.

I like exposing myself to as many different beliefs as possible, whether they be religious or more down to earth interpretations of our emotions, nature, culture, and anything else that makes me curious because it really does expand my mind. It doesn’t mean that I’m going to align my ways of thinking with whatever is set in text, it just means I’m aware of other ways of looking at it all. To deny someone any book, regardless of its content, seems like such a waste. That’s what is so great about Pastafarianism; it was made to present choices.

Now, I understand the humor involved, but there is an unspoken point to it. Maybe that’s too deep for a few of you who I know just like the idea of claiming that your god is a complex-carbohydrate deity and wearing full pirate regilia (albeit quite awesome regardless). Still, that’s why I like it so much, there are so many choices.
I’m going to read those books, but keep in mind I like the idea of following a religion that isn’t against homosexuals, is based on empiracal evidence (or lack of, in some cases), and could accept the idea that maybe this god of theirs was very drunk when the world was created.

    Ramen.

haha … the FSM does not need to be researched. he just is. try having a little thing called “faith.”

The zealots broke Christianity. If they want to fix it they should focus on that, not on tearing down other religions.

Thanks for the offer, but no thanks. You are correct in your assumption that I might not read your suggested books because of a lack of desire, yet it is not a lack of desire for the truth. Everything is relative, even truth. You may have found what is true to you, and that’s great. What is true for me is different. To me, there is no ultimate truth because everything is in flux. What is true right now might now be true in ten minutes. It’s all in my perception, not necessarily what actually is. It’s not unlike the Uncertainty Principle, which states that if one can pinpoint the velocity of a particular particle, it’s position at any one moment becomes more difficult to determine. I’m not a physicist, but I think that’s the general idea. Just when I grab onto one thought that seems like it might be “truth”, a multitude of other questions emerge to challenge that truth.

I suppose I should read your list so I can adhere to my belief that I should not criticize what I do not understand. I just don’t want to. Your assertion that I am confused because I don’t have enough or the correct information is erroneous. I’m not confused about what I believe.

“i got some books for you too:

    Ahahahahaha! Guide references are awesome.

Oh, and back on the actual topic:

It doesn’t matter how many questions you try to answer. We will always come up with more, and we will come up with explanations that deny religion, and eventually we will figure out where in our psychology the belief in God springs from, because God is a human invention.

  17. 17 collin Sep 16th, 2006 at 9:58 pm

While I don’t much care for your religion, it’s nice to see that you’re not all bloodthirsty over-zealous crusaders.

  18. 18 Steven J Sep 16th, 2006 at 10:07 pm

I think it’s hilarious that there are people who take this site seriously enough to write hate-mail to it. =P Especially when there is more historical proof AGAINST the validity of Christianity (time the religion emerged, where the symbols came from, that most of the holidays are ripped-off versions of other PAGAN religions…) than there is FOR it. Yet they’re the ones freaking out and telling Bobby that he’s going to hell for making a perfectly legitimate PROTEST SITE (As in, freedom of speech and freedom of religion.) I mean, sure- if he was handing out cups of Ketchup saying “The blood of the spaghetti-monster” I could see some kind of relevance to the complaints- but y’all are just being babies.

  19. 19 mfantom Sep 17th, 2006 at 4:39 am

    oh oh oh!!!

We should totally do that “blood of the Spaghetti Monster” thing that Steven J says….

I wanted to get these books and found them on amazon but the shipping was expensive. I mean I know you can get detailed thorough proof based documents for:

-Evidence That Demands a Verdict, Volume 1: Historical Evidences for the Christian Faith (Evidence That Demands a Verdict) (Paperback)………. 0.41

-Answers to Tough Questions Skeptics Ask About the Christian Faith (Mass Market Paperback)……………………………………………………….1.83

-Who Is This Jesus: Is He Risen? (Paperback)……………4.99 (talk about expensive crap!)

But who would have thought the shipping would be more expensive than the books??? Oh well.. Guess I’s jus gonna remain ignrant.

Maybe I have a friend who already owns them. I need a good outrage.

  20. 20 Steve Bowen Sep 17th, 2006 at 7:18 am

I have absolutely no interest at all in reading any of these books. Since they apparently deal with Christianity, they must be, by necessity, ultimately based on the Bible. The Bible is a fundamentally flawed work. As such, any work based upon it must also be flawed.

An elaborate spoof on Intelligent Design, The Gospel of the Flying Spaghetti Monster is neither too elaborate nor too spoofy to succeed in nailing the fallacies of ID. It's even wackier than Jonathan Swift's suggestion that the Irish eat their children as a way to keep them from being a burden, and it may offend just as many people, but Henderson, described elsewhere as a 25-year-old "out-of-work physics major," puts satire to the same serious use that Swift did. Oh, yes, it is very funny. -- Scientific American
