The trend in all these e-mails seems to be that they assume we agree that Christ existed and that God is real. I believe I speak for every FSM adherant when I say that we do not; so it’s hardly convincing.

This is why FSM is so much more believable. No one has ever *seen* God, or even a part of *God* — but pasta is everywhere! Whenever I see a box of angle hair or rigatoni, I know that I am in the presence of His Grace.

Okay the Jesus thing I kind of expected – the soldier thing was a little odd.
The soldiers are dying for our freedom, yes? Freedom as in, oh, I dunno, the freedom to believe in the Flying Spaghetti Monster if we want to? Your point therefore becomes null by means of your own “logic”. What do you think, that the soldiers are returning Jesus’ favor or something?

See, the fact of the matter is, those of us who believe in God know that he is real, and the spaghetti monster is fake. And those of you who believe the spaghetti monster is real know it is fake, but you also know that God is real. So you can keep clowning around all you want, but those facts are certain.

So, no one has ever seen God, huh? Look at the stars in the sky, the whales in the ocean, or the sun setting in the west. Do you think some “big bang” made that, or a spaghetti monster made that? No, moron, it was God. Only God has the power to create such things. As for your idiotic “pasta is everywhere”, umm, dumbass, HUMANS make pasta.

re: Tyler.
The sun setting, and the stars in the sky do not prove the existance of god. It leans more towards proving the big-bang theory.
“If you don’t support the war, you don’t yada yada yada…”
How utterly typical of the neo-con machismo attitude. My tax dollars pay for those troops (including you, I presume), thus supporting them. I do not, however, support the dunderheaded decisions that lead us there, and keep us there. Smilin` George can say “everything;s okay, stay the course” `till he leaves office in 2.5 years, but his poll numbers say that americans are not that gullible.

Not supporting the war equals not supporting the troops?
That is the biggest load I’ve ever heard in my entire life. Just because I (or anyone else) for that matter, doesn’t agree with the policy of this government does NOT, in any way, mean that I do not support my troops. They had no say in where they were going, and they didn’t choose to fight in the war. They were ordered to by the government. And if they signed on after we were already there, then I can respect that because they are out there fighting for something they believe in. I hope they all return home alive and well, and I wish no ill will upon anyone who would put his country before himself. I love and respect those who have the courage to fight, and am proud of the sacrifice they make, BUT that does not mean I have to agree with the war they are fighting. Just like Tyler protects my freedom of speech, I protect his, he can believe and think whatever he wants, and fight for this country. Just because I don’t agree with it, doesn’t mean I don’t support his right to do so.
So, do you get it shithead? Just because I don’t agree with what the U.S. is doing doesn’t mean I hate the troops/ don’t support the troops/ am a terrorist/ letting the terrorists win, etc.
And I’m sorry if you think we’re mocking your almighty god, but you come on this page and post statements mocking OUR almighty God. As a defender of free speech, you can say whatever you want, but please do not chastise us for doing something you yourself do.

If we point out how all religeons are flawed and that a flying spaghetti monster would make more sense, that means we need to grow up? As a former soldier (disabled vet), I feel compelled to acknowledge a flaw in the original argument. Among the freedoms soldiers have died to both protect and advance, is the freedom of religion. As unpopular as it may be, this vital freedom includes the fundamental right to believe whatever you choose, including non-belief.
Furthermore, what is especially troubling to me is that, more often than not, those people who invoke “soldiers died for you right to…” and thusly appropriate my years of service as a rallying point for their personal beliefs, have themselves never served in the military.

Yay! Random ‘My religion eats your religion or lack-thereof!’ arguments!
You know, it was Humans who created all forms of religion, great or not-so-much. They’re the ones who chose to see the world as the product of some super-intelligent, mega-powerful being. Flying Spaghetti Monster created the universe?! God created the universe?! Allah did?! (Ok, i’m not sure on the Allah part ’cause I don’t know anything about what his followers believe in.) There is only one difference, one actually exists.
I support the troops, however I have yet to see any “freedom fighting” in Iraq. Terrorists that blow themselves up in the middle of a market have nothing to do with defending my and everyone elses freedom. I support the troops, I dont support the actions of the government.

I always find these kind of comments which invoke the guilt attempt “Jesus died for you” amusing. Soo, we all have free will, but the roman soldiers had to nail Jesus up, because your God had to get killed by humans for you?
Wait, let’s fall back to that point. You had this wonderful living god wandering around, he got nailed up by some unbelievers, and you make the nailing a central part of your religion?

As Ghandi said “I like your Christ, but I don’t like your Christians: they are so unlike your Christ.”
Christ said love thy neighbour and died so people would follow his teachings. Your actions, and the actions of the majority of the “Christian” community, imply that you only care about being right. His teachings seem to mean nothing to you.

Actually, there are several. Christ died for my sins. The army dies for my freedom. My mom died for my childbirth. My would-be twin was aborted for my life. My sister jumped in front of a truck to save me. My dad took a bullet for me. An FBI agent was tortured o death and never revealed my location. Ronald Reagan died because I wished him to. My friend, Bruce, dyed his pubes for me. I started a cult and over 24 families drank the punch and died for me. Several baby cows died for my veal cutlets last night. Those baby cows’ moms died for the chair I’m sitting in. A horse died for the glue I sniffed last night. Several cats were killed to grease up the strings on my violin. A few deer have died purely for my entertainment.
So yeah… you can’t count.

What about the Buddhists? Are they wrong for believing in another God? What about the Hindus? Hell, the Aztecs? they didn’t know any better, either.
What makes one religion right over the others?
Here’s one: What if Christianity was the wrong religon? what if another religion was right all along, but Christians converted those believers? We would be screwed then, now wouldn’t we?

@Fluge – Please learn what a parody is.
Now my rant:
I was raised in a Catholic house, and nowadays ask myself, why do these people use Christ as the example of today’s Christian thought??
Bluntly put, Christ’s (the historic figure, independently of wether he was divine or not) philosophy as we heard it is: “try not to be an a$$hole and help others when you can” how horrible that those who “follow” his teaching act totally opposite to that. Think of the Crusades, Witch Hunting, etc.
Also, I support my troops, I wish those guys were HERE protecting us and out of the unnecessary danger a megalomaniac government puts them in.
Read some Chomsky, how the propaganda creates arguments impossible to argue against like “Support our Troops”. How in the world can I express my support to the men and women in uniform without also supporting a warmongering and violent agenda? ANY opinion along those lines instantly is tagged as hippie, pinko liberal or worst, traitor.

And why should we take your word for it little boy? It is so juvenile to use the oldest insult in the book of “…because she was with me last night” Oh smack down! I didnt know we were on an internet version of “Yo Mamma” perhaps if you could create a proper sentence, and a better vocabulary, then maybe you could actually create an insult that could hurt us. How old are you? 10? Watch it your mom might see what you are typing.

First of all, how can you dismiss a list like that because “none of them is a “defining force”" (oh, and I’d need an explanation of exactly what that is, thanks)? Secondly, what proof do you have that he’s making any of that up? It’s unlikely, but stranger things have happened. Oh, and lastly, claiming that you commited sodomy (hmn, isn’t that a sin in your religion?) with the mother of anyone you met a few minutes ago online not only establishes yourself as immature and an idiot, it also disqualifies yourself for any semi-intelligent argument. It’s worse than Godwin’s Law.

Hello, Bobby & Commentators
I am both a Biochemist and a Christian, and I found your site funny and shocking.
(1)I do not believe my fellow Christians should worry about this website, because Jesus taught us as Christians to love our neighbors like we love ourselves, so why do you threat this man (Bobby) with hate ~ it is Jesus who is truth and it is he who will judge. FSM is not real.
(2)I feel that science and faith do not conflict each other. It is men who confict with each other. Science makes observations and proves if they are true or not true. Evidence has proven that the earth is not the center of the galaxy like first suggested by the church (men), and that life has evolved, …Darwin’s finches… (Amphibians evolved into Reptiles evolved into Birds) these are not just the “devil’s hoaxes”. The Holy Bible never said that man didn’t evolve from chimpanzes, it says that God created everything in the universe ~ so why didn’t he create space and the components of atoms… and those atoms joined together to form molecules, and those molecules formed together to form cells, and thus life, and that life evolved untill Adam & Eve were created… the universe is so complex and intrinsic, this is not an accident. What about the part in the bible that says man was created in 6 days, and on the 7th God rested? How can this be if Scientists say that from Carbon Dating that the earth is actually billions of years old, and we have evidence of dinosaur fossils. Does it not say in the New Testament that one day of God is not the same as one day to man.
But, beloved, be not ignorant
of this one thing, that one day is with the Lord as a thousand years, and a thousand years as one day
~ 2 Peter, Chapter 3 – Verse 8
Christians practice faith. Scientists practice science. Science and Christianity does not conflict. Men conflict, because faith is not science.
(3) FSM is an propaganda attempt to debacle primarly Intelligent Design which I agree is not science, however FSM does go overboard in targeting Christianity ~ when it should focus on teaching people that ID should not be taught in the class room, as an alternative to evolution.

Tim, you have very good points. Thank you for being one of the few people that we have to look to as the voice of Christian reason, rather than Christian threats.
I agree with your first two points, however, the third point I might be able to help clarify a bit. As far as I can see, the FSM never originally targeted Christainity, but it was soon targeted after Mr. Henderson recieved so much hatemail from the more single-minded ones. And so many of the users insult Christianity because mostly the Christians we see around here think like the man in “Your god is a homo” post. If only there were more mature Christians like you around here, then I think that we would not in general target them so much, if at all.
Thank you for coming and proving that there are good Christains out there who arent obsessed with judging us all and “playing God” by sentencing us all to hell.

Um, for the person who wasted all that time putting up all the starting lines for each state should know something. When they wrote the word “god” they meant to emcompass all gods in all religions-not just the Christian God, therefore FSM was mentioned because FSM is the god of the pastafarians.
I have a serious question, if we’re all so misguided and FSM is so stupid then why do you waste your time sending in hate mail?

Ah, this is so that they look as if they “care” so that they score bonus points for the afterlife, or at least thats what they claim. Really it just shows that they really dont care about others at all that they cant just leave them be.

You people need to seriously take a step back and do some thinking about the whole premise of this site and it’s ideology.
I am a SSgt in the USMC and it is people’s right to say what they want. I am currently waiting to be deployed for my second tour in Iraq and I find this site refreshing. I know that deep down the people creating this site do not hate me, they simply do not agree the mission I am ordered to undertake. I respect their opinions, despite not standing on the same side of the sand line. It is your right, as Americans, to have opinions and to speak them. Let’s stop being ignorant and distastful and, frankly, childish about the whole “support” / “not support” our troops business. This site is about disagreeing with the topic of religion being taught in schools.
I happen to agree with what these people say on this topic. Intelligent Design is Creationism, regardless of what you call it. If it can be regarded as a science then so should the theory of the FSM. The point being made is this, FSM is as much bullshit as Intelligent Design. But, when religion is pressed into the heads of people from childhood it is very hard to avoid being brainwashed. If you look back in history– recent history–people have done some absolutly atrocious acts simply because it was the social norm… Example: Nazi’s and the Holocaust. Obviously the senseless murder of millions was wrong on every level but when the extremists gain power terrible things can happen.
Allowing one religious idea to be taught, regardless of whatever name you give it, is just the beginning. Intelligent Design is Creationism and it has no place in Public Schools. But, if the ultra idiotic right has its way? Soon that little thing called the constitution will be of little meaning, it might as well be toilet paper.
