Wonder why we have sucessfully used flies, worms and rats (mainly) for biomedical research into diseases and come up with a better and often a new understanding of these as well as successfull treatments (cures)? The reason these organisms are used (other than the fact we don’t get a lot of humans volnteering to be guinea pigs) is based on an understanding of evolutionary relationships between these different organisms and humans.
