But you’re still dead wrong.
To start with, you have cleverly implied an argument without ever saying it outloud. This is a very effective strategy, because no one can really disagree with your argument if it hasn’t been said yet. But I am going to say it outloud here, so I can point out what’s wrong with it.
Your logic simplifies down to 3 points.
Given 1–There is about as much scientific evidence that mankind was created by a Spaghetti Monster as that mankind was created by the Christian God. I’ll agree with you here.
Given 2–Everyone can see it’s rediculous to believe mankind was actually created by Spaghetti. I’ll agree with you here too.
Conclusion–Therefore, everyone should be able to see it’s just as rediculous to believe mankind was created by the Christian God. Wrong.
You forgot to look at why no one believes mankind was created by Spaghetti. It’s not for lack of scientific evidence, it’s for lack of theological evidence. Mankind has amassed a great amount of theological writings and thoughts, which point to several different creator gods. Which ones are most credible isn’t an issue at the moment. But none of them point to Spaghetti as creator, so of course no one is truly going to believe they were created by Spaghetti (however much they might pretend at political rallies).
So then, why should the scientific evidence for ID be any more compelling than the scientific evidence for FSM? The answer is…its not! Rather, the scientific evidence for ID doesn’t point to any specific creator, but just to a creator in general. So FSM could use exactly the same physical evidence as ID does with no problems. The fact that it will still be unbelievable is due to theology, not science.
(I haven’t addressed what exactly the evidence actually says, because thats a different topic entirely. I couldn’t fit a good look at it into this Email without losing your attention real fast. This Email is specifically designed to cover the FSM argument, not any scientific arguments.) Directly or indirectly your humor is directed against The Creator and Sustainer of life! This might not be reality to you now, but stay as you are and you will someday stand before Him and feel the awesome weight of your actions. Whether conscious of this fact, or simply creating this website for harmless, humoristic fun, you are influencing lives to treat heartfelt eternal matters as worthless and lighthearted.
Better yet, ask Jesus to help you to see the Reality of His death and His payment on the cross for your faithlessness, so that you may pass from death to life by receiving His grace (unmerited favor). The bible teaches that you are already dead, in your transgressions and sins and physically existing only by His grace and authority. When your time expires and He withholds your breath, the state of your soul at that time will determine whether you join Him or go to a godless eternity. This is spiritual reality and a wise, prudent person would be respectful enough to leave it alone. Stay as you are and these words will become part of your eternal memory.
These words are said in love. We will be praying for you. To us, your website is a plea to pray for you. You place yourself in a spiritually dangerous place when mocking the things of God, even when done in meaningless humor. The bible says, ‘It is a fearful thing to fall into the hands of the living God’. To Christians He is a Father and The Lord of Love. To heathens, all those who do not accept Jesus as Lord and Savior of their lives, He will be the Righteous Judge who will in the day of judgment reveal their worthless years spent on earth. The scripture also says that it would have been better for that person to have never been born because the sad fact is that they will spend time and eternity absent from the presence of such a loving God.
Hell was created originally for rebellious angels. Humans who wind up there do so because of their choices made in life. Pride alone caused Satan to be cast out of his heavenly highly exalted position. When pride entered into his heart he believed he could usurp God’s authority. This same pride of life and willful disobedience causes many a soul to join eternally with the master of deception. This is the just reward for those who lack faith and spurn the gift God gave to us, freely. The gift of His Son, Jesus who is the only one who can change the destiny of every man’s soul.

Know what makes me sick about Graham’s response? Personally I am not very religious, I will state that up front. However, I have no problem with people believing whatever they want to believe in. Again, as people have stated on here, this site is satire of the type of aggressive religious parties who like to push their beliefs on others, and try to force others to see their “perfect” and “correct” vision of how to live life. I could care less whether someone believes in the things I believe. Why is that so hard to do?
The scary thing too, is the basis of Graham’s religious devotion apears to be fear. I fully support people trying ot live their lives to be good people and help others — whether that is a religious association or not — and I believe that trying ot be a good person is a good goal. Unfortunately, many people take the view Graham does, and acts out of fear of wrath from a god who although supposedly unconditional loves everyone, has the menace to send someone to a grisly “eternity” in “hell” for either not believing or not following his strict guidelines.
Faith can be a great thing. I know many people who’s faith helps them in hard times, and in good times helps them shine as a person. But I don’t here them preach about fearing god’s judgement — i hear them simply talk about wanting to help others and to live what they believe to be a good life. These are not the people pushing for ID in schools. These are not the people trying to interfere with Gay marriage. These are not the people trying to make converts out of everyone. They are happy to talk if interested, but they are not gonna try and trap you into some theological argument. They are the people who give faith and religion a good name. It is people like Graham who give it a bad one.

Eloquent, but the message is clear. Jesus is the only answer. Everyone else is wrong. Forget the Buddha. Forget the teachings of Guru Nanak. Muhammad who? My question is how can anyone who follows Jesus’ doctrine of compassion comfortably sit in heaven knowing that anyone was burning in hell? The only arguement I can see here is ‘a lot of stuff has been written about God, so it must be true!’ Well a lot of stuff has been written on Sherlock Holmes, Tarzan, and Superman, so be that logic they must be real.
FUMELO; I applaud your words. Organized religion has fahsioned its own Spaghetti God, which uses a middleman to be a servant of their own human interests. They are opposed to and have attempted to silence every Scientific method used for rational thinking. Science has done more for mankind in the past 100 years than Christianity has for the past 2,000 years. Christian theology is not only opposed to scientific spirit, it’s opposed to all forms of rational thinking. Now, we are leaving the next generation with the horror of global warming and almost 13 billion people dwelling on spaceship earth. Science must be taken seriously and NCLB funding should spend billions to increase the understanding of the scientific method in grades K-12. I, unfortunately was rasied a catholic, and honestly I hate it. I went to a catholic school for 10 years, and for 9 out of the 10 years, i did’t believe a thing that was said.
I have been looking around for a long time for something fun to believe in, and I’m begining to think that I found something that makes sense to my abstract mind.
I want to again thank you for making such a believeable and fun religion, it’s truly great!!!

So, let me get this straight, this benevolent loving God declares everyone who will ever exist in this world, but hasn’t even been born yet a sinner because Adam and Eve - who God just created in his image - and who had no sense of right or wrong when they ate from the tree of knowledge (what king of tree is that?) So they learned to tell the difference between right and wrong, although such ability would seem to be a desirable trait in the eyes of a deity so hung up on behevior patterns. And wow, what a tremendous henious crime in the first place, trying to aquire a little knowledge!!! So now God, having branded all humankind (who he created) born-sinners, now condems them all to death and is now required, according to Christian mythology, to repent of his hasty curses and come to earth as a specimen of his own creation who is really God but only looks like his son, but who is really him, and cause himself (son) himself to be put to a hideous death, in order to redeem humanity from the condemnation which he himself imposed on it!! God then promised everlasting life to his murders, in heaven with him if they believed they had killed him - in hell if they refused to believe it. If you dont believe all of this hook line and sinker without any supporting evidence then God will roast you in a fiery hell for all eternity, but dont ever forget - God loves you! Whew! Huh?? Say What? Monty Python and Mel Brooks combined couldnt make up such a ridiculous story line!!!!

The great things about Pastafarianism is the rejection of dogma and that this is the only religion based on empirical evidence. We will defend ourselves when attacked, but reserve the right to change our beliefs based on new evidence or as a greater understanding of the status quo comes to light.

I also agree with him that “it’s not for lack of scientific evidence, it’s for lack of theological evidence†that people don’t believe in the great FSM. So basically what the other “established†religions have over the CoFSM is time. They have amassed a body of theological evidence (not exactly sure what that means but I like it!) over time. We are already way ahead of Joe Smith and the early Mormon church and in time the CoFSM will have amassed a large volume of “theological evidenceâ€
